I love the hobby of keeping fish, as many here in Australia do. If you are are also a hobbyist here in Oz then this is an issue that concerns you.
For those who dont know Biosecurity Australia has released a report suggesting batch testing be undertaken on a large number of fish imported to the country. There are a number of serious errors in the report, however current legislation precludes any appeals based on scientific merit. If the testing goes ahead the price of most Cichlids, Gouramis, Livebearers and Bettas will increase significantly, pushing the price of these fish beyond the reach of most hobbyists.The petition is private so your name wont pop up in a google search.
