Welcome to The Sims 2 Downloads Archive!
As this appears to be one of your first visits to our downloads pages let us briefly explain the quickest and easiest way for you to get the Sims 2 Custom Content that you see here, into your own game.
We have several options for downloading content from this website. As a beginner you should concentrate on using just the .sims2pack file option (the middle of the 3 download buttons below each creation). Click this and choose “Save As” to save the file on your PC. Any location will do, either your desktop so you can quickly find it, or a dedicated folder so that you keep your Sims files in once place. Once downloaded, open the file to see the familiar Sims 2 game installer pop up and install that creation into your game. You will be told that the install was successful and the creation is now ready to use in your game!
Often, objects are clones of existing items in the game. They will not show up as new items in buy mode but will show as a color alternative, just like paintings do. If you have downloaded a batch of objects, try clicking on items in buy mode and check out all the new color alternatives you have for them. This should be all you need to know to start using Sims 2 downloads, but if you want to know about other options for bigger batches of downloads or more control, click the tab below.
Our Different Download Options
As well as the Sims2Pack files, you can download your creations in .zip files for you to extract yourself (only for people used to handling files on their PC and want better control of their .package files).
Subscribers to the site have two further features. One is the TSR Installation Wizard which takes individual or batches of creations and installs them into your game automatically in the background. You can also use the Wizard to see which creations you have installed into your game and can just as easily remove them from the game. This is probably the easiest process for managing Custom Content in your game!
The second Subscriber feature is the Download basket, allowing you to browse the site adding up to 200 files to your basket as you go, so no interruptions while you "shop". Then you can install all of the items in one large batch using any of the download processes already explained. A great power feature for those users hungry for lots of new content in their game!
More detailed help on using the content from this site can be found under the Helpcenter Tab in the top right corner of the site.
Sorting and Searching Content
With such a huge database of creations you need good filters to find the content you are looking for, and luckily you have them here!
• Type Tabs: These tabs are at the top of the database page and show either subscriber of free content, or all mixed together.
• Released: Once you become a frequent visitor you might like to only view recent submissions, which can be selected here.
• Artist Level: Display items from everyone, only Featured Artists or retired FA's, only Select Artists or only user submissions. The default though, is to view all.
• Featured Creations: Checking this box will display only the very best creations at the site as selected by our editors.
• Skip Set Items: This excludes the multiple items that make up part of a set, excluding things like multiple recolors of a new mesh.
• Only my Expansion Packs: Display only creations compatible with the Expansion Packs you have, you can edit that in My TSR (Edit your preferences).
• Sort By: Sort items based on publish date or the amount of downloads they have.
Once you've made your choices among the above options (you can choose several combinations) - click "Show Results". You will find the sort and search options on the right hand side of the downloads screen.
Submitting Your Own Work
If you are playing the game you are already creating Custom Content in the form of Lots and Sims. You might also be enjoying making your own walls, floors and clothes using the EA Tools Homecrafter and Bodyshop, or more advanced creations with other third party tools.
Why not submit your work to The Sims Resource to share it with other Sims players and to build your own profile page and enhance your presence in our Sims game community?
Simply click the Submit link at the very top of every page on the site and follow the simple process to add your work. Once approved it will be published and stored in our archive for players to use now and way into the future. You will get feedback for your creations in the form of download counts, thanks and comments, It’s very rewarding to contribute to this community so jump in and take part today!

Place this lot on a low coastal road: for example the coastal road in Bluewater Village (by the retail park). The road should be 8-10 steps above the sea level to get the sea just below the entrance steps – but Sims can walk in the sea! Some new custom neighbourhoods provide this feature, so experiment with them - for example, for this set, Newhaven Seaside Village by simplysim78 has much the same road height, whereas Pickle Bay by Hazy13 will let a little water flood the entrance area (but you may like that!).
This building uses CycloneSue's invisible driveway, which is a recolor. For this to work in Seasons, you’ll need the Seasons PATCH from Maxis! Find the patch here: http://thesims2.ea.com/update/?pid=Help_patches
Please notice that this item needs 1 extra mesh to install properly - listed here under Requirements and Dependencies. Install the mesh before installing the building. If you can download the mesh or have it already you should have no trouble installing with the Maxis default installer ("The Sims2 Bodyshop Package Installer"). But if you do have any problem getting them, please download the Sims2Pack Clean Installer, which is available free here at TSR (go Frontpage > Content > Programs and it's on the first page).
The Clean Installer is much more effective than the Maxis default at installing custom content, and should allow you to install the meshes automatically with the house.

Place these lots on a low coastal road: for example the coastal road in Bluewater Village (by the retail park). The road should be 8-10 steps above the sea level to get the sea filling the harbour. Some new custom neighbourhoods provide this feature so experiment with them - for example, for this Rimini set, Pickle Bay by Hazy13 has the right road height, whereas simplysim78's Newhaven leaves the sea lower, only partly filling the harbour. But you may like this low-tide effect!
