Madison just bought a new outfit and was admiring it in her bedroom mirror. She heard footsteps and turned around. "You do realize those jeans make your hips look huge." Ellen, her mother, slurred. "Adie always knew the right clothes to buy, and well, she was more slender than you are." Madison quickly left the room. She knew better than to argue with her drunk mother. When Ellen was drunk she turned into a hateful, mean person. Madison was tired of living with her, she wanted to be a normal teenager. She wanted to be able to have friends and go out places. Madison went to the dining room where her father was working on a case.
"Dad, I need to talk with you" She said, her voice shakey.
"what is it?"
"well I really would like to ... well i, I want to go out with friends." She finally said. She begged and pleaded for several more minutes.
Frederick stood up and hugged his daughter. "I understand honey, I will.." and then he heard his wife come into the room. "No way!" his tone changed, "You can not go out! After all we went through with your sister! No, now go to your room!"
Madison was crushed.
Madison never felt so betrayed. She always felt her father would stick up for her. She ran out of the room while her mom yelled, "and go wash off that makeup, you look like a floozy!" And then Ellen poured herself another glass of wine. Madison went up to her room and got ready for bed, making sure to get all her make up off. She knew her mom would check on her, so that makeup had to come off. Madison looked at her reflection in the mirror, "Why doesnt she love me? Why does she think im ugly?" Madison thought. Madison knew she was pretty, luckily her mother's harsh words didnt ruin her self esteem. But, Madison desperatly wanted a different life. Towards the end of the week Madison came home from school. It was the last day of her senior year, she was done high school!
She heard her parents argueing in the foyer. She stood outside the front door but she couldnt hear them well.
"It is final!" Frederick comanded. "We cant keep it this way!"
"But, If something would.." Ellen began. "But it wont!" Frederick interupted.
"Hi Mom. Hi Dad. Is everything okay?"
Ellen stood still.
"Oh fine, honey. Everyone, lets go to the den. We need to talk." Frederick said in a fake happy tone. Madison was nervous. What was going on? "Your mother and I have been talking. And I, uhh I mean, we think you are unhappy. We want you to have a great & fullfilling life." Frederick spoke, "We are.. ..sending you off to college in a month."
Madison was startled. She couldn't believe it!
madison was very emotional. She was so excited to go to college. She was even more happy to know her father really did care about her. "Now Madison, collge isnt going to be what you are use to. " He said softly. "I want you to grow and learn. Once you start college you wont have maids. You wont have all the luxeries you have here."
Madison was a bit shocked. She never thought of life with out the things she is use to. But, she knew life with out her drunken mother and life with friends would be great!
Over the next few weeks Madison spent a lot of time on the computer. She knew everything about the college she was attending and met some students at the college's chat room. She was so excited, and very nervous. The day had finally come. The maid's packed up all of Madisons things and brought them out for the taxi driver to get. Everyone, besides Ellen, was thrilled for Madison. They aved bye as Ellen sobbed. Madison got into the taxi and waved goodbye to her family. "This is the start of a great life!"

This does happen in real life also and it's to bad the person acting out just doesn't realize they are taking from their life and others around them and not adding to it all the things that are deserved like , happiness, love and caring. With the mother crying when she is leaving it looks like she may have realized what she has been doing. At least I hope so. Good story. Cheers, \:\)
