Thankyou everyone for reading my story *hugs* Hope you all enjoy the next chapter "Well? Well what?" I said slightly aggravated.
"Shall I start at the beginning?" He questioned.
"Might be a good place to start." "Well you do realise that we live in a small town? I saw you come in to the cafe thing yesterday and I knew who you were immediately" I sat blankly staring at him. "I've never met you" I replied more confused than angry now. "I've heard you mentioned before, like I said small town now stop interrupting me so I can explain"
"You remember the waitress?" I nodded.
"Well She's my aunt" "Okay...." I trailed off, strange crazy-ness must run in the family I thought to myself.
"What?" he asked confused.
"Nothing. Continue" He started the car and reversed onto the road.
"Might as well do two things at once" He smiled. "A few minutes after you left your dad came into the cafe. He looked worried. He came and sat at the counter and asked if any one had seen you, he was very descriptave and I knew he was talking about you."
"Have you seen my daughter by any chance? She ran away last night I'm pretty sure" I turned around and listened to what he was saying. "I saw her" I told him. "She left just a few minutes before you came in" "Which way did she go?" He asked. "You know if she's run away, you're probably the last person she wants to see" The expression on his face changed and he looked annoyed. I came out from behind the counter and he stood up. "What do you suggest young man?" He asked me just as my aunt walked over to see what was going on. "I could find her? I'm sure I could" I offered. "And then what?" he asked. I thought for a while "I'll bring her home" I stated flatly. "Thanks but no thanks" he said politely. "I'm serious, I can do it trust me" He then looked at my aunt, she nodded. "I suppose it can't hurt, make sure she calls me when you get to her"" He noticed I was silent. "I don't know why but I feel I should apologize" He told me. "No it's fine, but why would you offer to come after me?"
"Because....I don't know"
"So your going to try and convince me not to go and see my mother now?" "Nope"
"But you promised my dad that you would bring me home"
"I didn't specify when" He smiled a huge grin. "So tell me a bit about yourself"
"There's not much to tell" I admitted.
"I'm sure there's something, hmmm favourite colour? Favourite number?" "Okay...ummm let's say...purple? And umm.....8 you?" He thought for a while.
"Hmmm..." He looked at my hair "Favourite colour's red, and number ummm 2" The car ride was full of much more boring conversation, it dragged out till the sun started to set. We drove past a motel another motel at about 6:30 maybe. We had stopped for lunch that day but that was at midday so now I was ravenous.
"Do you want to get a room here?" he asked.
"Sure, it looks as good as any other" I smiled. He got out of the car and into the office to pay for a room, leaving me alone for a moment with my thoughts. I sat there by myself, and was happy with some peace, I closed my eyes and sunk into the chair resting the back of my head on the soft head-rest. I was tired from driving all day, I started thinking about Michael. A smile creeped across my face. I was startled when Michael hopped in the car and slammed the door.
"I didn't scare you did I?" Michael said a smile crossing his face.
"No. Did you get a room?"
"Yeah, but do you want to get something to eat first?"
"Sure, where to?" We drove around for a while until we found a nice small restaurant. We walked in and took a seat, and tried to decide what we would order. I couldn't help but ask, it had been plagueing my mind ALL day. "Do you like me?" I asked as we waited for our food to arrive. He was a bit shell shocked by my forwardness. But he got himself together. "Of course I like you Nicole" He smiled.
"Like really like me?" I knew it was a stupid question to ask, it just came out, I tried to put the words back in my mouth, turn back time and never ask the question. I didn't want to know the answer. He extended his arm and put his fingers through mine. I felt like I was going to pass out I was sure I had gone bright red. He pulled his hands away when the waitress came by with our meals. He then changed the subject. "If we leave tomorrow at the same time we left this morning, we'll be there by tomorrow night"
"Really??" I was excited and completely terrified at the same time. My mother that I hadn't seen in 11-12 years. Would she even recognize me? Michael noticed how silent I was being.
"What are you thinking about?" a huh? was all I managed to say. "You're so quiet"
"Oh sorry I was thinking" He rolled his eyes at me but I ignored him and finished my chicken. We arrived back at the motel a little after 8, Michael went straight in saw the couch and started to jump on it. I just stood there staring at him.
"Come on it's fun"
"I'm not jumping on the couch" But he grabbed my arm and pulled me up with him. "Why are we jumping on the couch?" I asked mid laughter.
"I felt like it" he smiled. I jumped up and did a flip mid-air, Michael was shocked. And I'm glad that I didn't make a complete fool of myself by landing face first on the floor, I did a perfect flip. "Alright alright I have to stop now" trying to catch my breath, Michael stopped too and sat next to me. "You look tired" he said as he put his arm around me. What was I doing?? I moved under his arm and he smiled. "I really like you" he told me. I turned to face him he leaned in to kiss me........but I pulled away at the last second. "I've got to go and have a shower" I said quickly and left to the bathroom. I decided to have a bath instead, which gave me more time to think. Why did I pull away? I puzzled my mind. I like him, he likes me, what's the problem? I concluded my thoughts with 'it was moving too fast' but it was just a kiss, well it would have been. I made up my mind that I would apologize as soon as I got out of the bathroom, I just hoped another opportunity like the one before would present itself again. I walked out of the bathroom to find him again asleep on the couch with the lights on. I walked over to him. "Hey sleepy head"
"Hmmmph" He sat up. "What?"
"I'm sorry"
"It's fine don't worry about it, just go to bed and get some sleep"
"That couch can't be very comfortable" I told him.
"Well you know it's better than the floor" he smiled.
"You can sleep in the bed if you like"
"Okay...." He said unsure. I hopped into bed and he followed. I turned off the lamp beside me and we both fell asleep within seconds.
