I walked back inside after Michael left, I regretted what I had said, I didn't mean it. I needed someone to talk to, but as I came into the room I couldn't find Abbey, she was gone. "Where's Abbey?" I questioned whilst looking around the room, and trying to not burst into tears in front of Jake. "She went out to get some garlic bread and drinks or something" He said as he turned around. "Hey, are you alright?" I tried to say 'I'm fine' but all I could manage was the 'I' sound and then I burst into tears. "Hey it's alright" Jake told me trying to comfort me. But I was too upset. After a few minutes of me sobbing Jake finally asked "What happened??" what, like he didn't hear the big argument I just had with Michael. "M-M-Michael broke up with me" I wailed. "Or I-I-I broke up-p with h-him" I stopped crying for a moment, trying to remember which. But it didn't matter. I wiped the hot wet tears from my cheeks and started frantically looking for the tissue-box. Why can you never find the tissue box when you need it?? I always see it lying around, but when I need it it's vanished! I was looking everywhere for it. And the search was helping me take my mind off of Michael. I was starting to get frustrated trying to find it though. I was looking under the cushions, and behind the fridge. It wasn't until I started looking under the pot plants that Jake grabbed my arm to stop me. "Hey calm down, I'll find it for you" he said in a soothing voice. I don't know what it was, and don't know why it happened. But there was a quietness after he told me he would look for the tissue-box, and and I-I-I I kissed him! I love Michael but I kissed Jake!! He kissed me back.....but that's beside the point! I kissed him! "Jake I-I-I" I didn't have to finish my sentence because who else to walk in the door at precisely the right moment, Abbey. I walked quickly to her, grabbed her arm which made her drop her bags and dragged her with me. "Geez what are you in such a rush about?? You nearly took my arm off"
"....sorry I-I"
"Did something happen?? Where's Michael?? Did something happen with Michael??" "We....broke up...I think" I was silent.
"You think?"
"No, we did, we....broke up" tears started to well up in my eyes. Abbey was silent for a while, then her face lit up, if she were a cartoon she would have had that light bulb above her head flashing.
"You know what this calls for?" She said smiling. "No, what?"
"Chocolate FONDU!!" She said smiling. She always knew how to cheer me up.
"There's something else I have to tell you" I told her as she sprung up and started heading for the fondu. "What?"
"I....I...It's so rediculous, I....I kissed Jake" "What?? How??? Why??? WHEN???" The look on her face was priceless, if I wasn't so miserable I would have absolutely cacked up laughing.
"Just before....is there anyway you could make the fondu and bring it in here? So I don't have to go out there"
"Why?"
"Because Jake's out there....and I kind of kissed him and ran....I just don't want to go out there, can you please?"
"Yeah sure" It had been a couple of days since Michael and I broke up, and I was having a wonderful time wallowing in self-pity. I quit my job and have been filling my days with lots of tv and sleeping. I was having a wonderful dream filled with chocolate fountains and strawberry oompa loompas, when I heard the door slam shut. It woke me instantly and I realised who it must be. Ever since we kissed I've been avoiding Jake, and until now I had been most successful. He came and sat down next to me, I tried to think of an excuse any excuse to get out of there. "Oh my, look at the time I have to--"
"You don't have to go anywhere, you've been avoiding me, why?"
"I really have to....go shopping yes I'm meeting.....Abbey there" I tried to tell him but I don't think I sounded too convincing.
 "Nicole?"
"Yes..." I turned to him slowly.
"Do you want to go and get some coffee or something? Or dinner?"
"Dinner?" I asked confused, he caught me off guard. "I suppose?"
"Great! How about now?"
"Uhh yeah now's a good a time as any.....I suppose" I started feeling guilty about going to get coffee with him, but it was just coffee it wasn't like I was marrying him or anything, and I wasn't even with Michael anymore I don't know it just seemed too soon or something. "So...." I started the conversation.
"Yeah so..." I hated conversations that started like that, because then there's a really awkward silence, while you both try to think of something to say.
"Okay, Nicole I-I really like you"
"I really like me too" I smiled. "Sorry couldn't resist"
"I'm serious, I'd really like to uhh go like on a date with you sometime"
"Aren't we kind of like on a date now?"
"I suppose you could look at it that way, you know I've always liked you especially when you kissed me at that picnic at Abbey's house" he smiled.
"Kissed you? You kissed me"
"Well you kissed me back" he smiled. He touched my hand and held it in his. My heart fluttered. We started talking, and I was laughing and having a really good time. Until I looked past Jake, and saw Michael standing there watching us. The look in his eyes, the hurt on his face was unbearable. He turned around and walked out of the door as quickly as he could.
"I'll be right back." I told Jake, and got up as fast as I could and ran out the door after him. I ran after Michael, and stood infront of him stopping him from leaving.
"What are you doing here?"
"Nothing, I'm leaving."
"You don't return my calls then you just show up?"
"I saw you go in the cafe, I went in to talk to you, but you already had company"
"What do you want to talk to me about?"
"It doesn't matter now, why don't you be a good little girl and go back to your boyfriend" he said, hostility rising in his voice. I didn't have anything to say to that, what he said hurt, really hurt.
"Get out of here Michael, you jerk!" "Well I am, I'm leaving with my Aunt, she offered I accepted, you'll never see me again! And I'm glad I don't have to ever see you again. "Have a nice life with Jake" he said as he walked off. "I will!!!" I yelled out at him, attracting the attention of nearly the entire town.
