"I just want to wait until Jake gets home before we head out"
"Why?" then the door swung open. "Hey your home finally, I was starting to get worried" I sprung up off the couch. "What happened?? Look at your face!"
"It's just a bruise, stupid guy sucker punched me" he laughed. "You didn't have to do that" Abbey said. "Well I have to look out for my little cousin don't I?"
They both laughed. "Alright we better get going, lots of bridal shopping to do"
"Well don't spend all my hard earned money" Jake smiled.
"Of course I will" I smiled ear to ear "cya tonight" I stood staring at myself in the mirror, after trying on, it must have been over 20 different dresses I had found one that I loved. One that I could see myself walking down the aisle in, one I could see myself marrying Jake in.
"Abbey! I think I've chosen one!" I yelled across the store. "What do you think?" I asked excitedely. "It looks amazing Nicole. I still can't beleive your going to marry my cousin!"
"I know! It's so surreal" I turned around to have another look at the dress.
"I'm going to be Mrs. Daleson!!"
"I know!!" Abbey squealed.
"Do you think the tiara is a bit much?"
"Not at all! It's sets the whole look off" "Can I help you?" asked the sweet old lady that owned the store.
"I think I'll take this dress" I said twirling around in it. "Umm excuse me miss, sorry to interrupt but I'm in a hurry, I came to pick up for Brenigan?" said a man from behind the old lady. "Oh yes yes yes, I'll get that for you, excuse me miss?"
"Jones, for the moment" we both laughed. Then she left to get the man's clothes. "Did you see how good looking that guy was?" Abbey asked me excitedely. I didn't think he was good looking, a bit dorky if you ask me but I wasn't about to say that to Abbey. "OOo yeah, he was good looking, you should go talk to him" I smiled.
"I can't go and talk to him"
"Why not?"
"Because he's a guy, and he's in a bridal shop, so he's probably getting married"
"You never know" I smiled again. Then we heard the old lady from across the room "Pick up was for best man suit? I'll just go look in the back again"
"See he's the best man!"
"Well I'm still not going to talk to him"
"Alright, alright, I'm going to go and get changed" I left to the change rooms while Abbey went and sat down on the only place to sit. She was sitting there for a while then who else would come over to her? "Can I sit here?" he asked nearly choking on his words, he was so nervous. "s-s-sure" Abbey stuttered. "So your getting married?" he asked hoping she wasn't. "Oh me? No, I'm just shopping with my friend, she's the one that's getting married, what about you? Are you getting married?" he laughed "Me? I'm definately not getting married, I'm just here picking up my best man suit, my sister's the one that's getting married" he smiled. "Oh" Abbey said with a hint of hope in her voice. I then walked out of the dressing rooms and saw them talking, so I listened in.
"Would you like to uhh go ummm out some time?" he asked and again nearling choking on his words with nervousness. Abbey ummed and uhhed for a while then I stepped in.
"Your not going to take her to Mcdonalds?" I asked.
"No..ahh ma'am" I nearly laughed, that was the first time someone had called me ma'am, it was so weird. "Well then she'd love to go" I told him and Abbey smiled and nodded in agreement.
"Come on Abbey, we got to get going"
"Alright" she said slowly. She gave him her number and I payed for my dress. Then we left. We started to walk home, but then I remembered we were out of OJ at home so we started walking towards the grocery store. But we both stopped dead in our tracks, when we saw who's car was out the front of the store.
"Do you think he knows yet?" Abbey asked me.
"I haven't told him" I said still shocked to see Michael's car.
"You know we don't really need the OJ we can just go home without it if you like" Abbey suggested.
"No, it'll be fine, how about you go home and I'll get the milk and meet you back there" "Alright then, I'll see you back home, good luck, cya"
"cya Abbey" we hugged and she left. I stood watching Abbey leave, then I decided to have a look in his car, to see if it was his car. I peered in through the window and there was no doubt in my mind that it was Michael's. I walked up to the front door of the grocery store, took a big breath and walked in. And who was right in front of the OJ? Michael! I headed over to the oranges, maybe I'll just make some fresh OJ? I was trying to be as inconspicuous as possible, that was until, I tripped on an orange that was on the floor, and smacked onto the floor face first. It was pretty hard to remain inconspicuous after that. And guess who decided to come over? "Hey are you alright?" he asked in his dreamy voice. "Uhh yeah, I just umm wacked my head a little hard" I said trying to remain balanced and not fall over a second time. I felt like such an idiot, and he just stood there staring at me! "I'm married" I blurted out without thinking "I mean, I'm engaged....to Jake"
"Oh" he said, that was all he said! Oh, oh isn't even a sentence.
"Was that a good oh, or a bad oh?" I asked.
"Uhh, that was a surprised oh"
"....okay...." I didn't know what to say, what could I say? I managed to think of something though. "How long have you been in town?" "Uhh just a couple of days, I just got an apartment near here" he told me.
"Oh" was all I could say.
"Was that a good oh? Or a bad oh?" we both laughed. "It was a...surprised oh" I smiled.
"So Jake? huh?"
"Yep" there was an extremely awkward silence. "Uhh I better get going" I told him and tried to leave as quickly as possible. I walked past him. "Wait!" He grabbed my arm an pulled me towards him. I kissed his soft, tender lips.
"You can't marry Jake"
"What!??!?" I was still surprised and shocked by the sudden kiss. It was all still trying to register, what was happening. Then it caught up "Why not?"
"Because I love you, I'm sorry for being so stupid, and leaving, I should never have left"
"No, I was the stupid one, I forced you to leave" he kissed me again. What am I doing? I'm engaged!! I thought, but only for a second. As much as I tried to deny it, I was still in love with Michael. "Where's Nicole? I thought you said she was only a minute behind you?" Jake enquired.
"I thought she was too, she must be held up somewhere" "I don't understand it, I told her I was making dinner tonight and everything"
"Yeah, I know, she'll probably be home any minute" Abbey tried to reassure him. For once in my life all my worries had ceased, I was content and happy as I fell asleep next to Michael.
