This has happened to me many times - not sure why, but I've learned to just redownload and it usually works.

If you have World Adventures, you can use the food cash register and you will then have a Sims working there. I'm not sure if this is correct, but I think all you have to do is hit Ctr Shift C, type in buyDebug, Enter and it will give you a question mark sign in your buy mode. Then check electronics section to see if the cash registers show up there. If anyone else knows for sure how to do this, please correct my instructions. Thanks.
