Marissa and Logan Carter are one of the sweetest couples you can ever meet in Pleasantview. They met while in college.
Lanngston and London. Lanngston is the eldest of the two. Although he was not their first child (they adopted Leela 6 years earlier) , he was their first born child. Named after Logan's great-grandfather, Lanngston was an eager baby. He loved sitting in his father's lap or just singing songs with Leela. London on the other hand was the opposite. He was a rambuctious baby. Fiesty and always climbing on things. Lanngston was the calmer of the two boys. He was born with a heart condition that made it difficult for him to be as active as other children. Marissa was always very protective of him and how much he played. London again was just the opposite. He was everything Lanngston wanted to be. Wild and energetic. It was as if he took up for the both of them. The boys were heavy competitors. Always betting each other that one can do it better than the other. They bet who could win running. Lanngston being the eldest and stronger of the two always beat his little brother. There was also constant teasing between the two of them. Lanngston often picked on his brother just as big brothers would do.
Logan: Their just being brothers.
Logan would often say when Marissa complained about how they were acting towards each other. As children they shared the same room together. But while Lanngston was clean, London was a mess. In order to trick his brother to clean he would often bet him who could clean up the best and the fastest. This was the only game he would let his brother win. London hated being the shadows of his big brother.
London: One day I'm going to be faster and stronger and I'll beat you. But no matter how much competition there was between them, there was also brotherly love. Especially on birthdays and special holidays. Lanngston always made sure they he picked out a gift for his little brother and made sure it was exactly what he wanted. By now the little boys had turned into teenagers.
At 15 Lanngston had grew into a handsome sophomore. He gave up playing sports when his condition worsened and was hospitalized for nearly a month. Lanngston was more of the artist. He had taught himself how to play the piano after being hospitalized. After learning, he took up guitar lessons and had recently begun trying the drums. Little brother London was a year behind and a freshman this year at Pleasantview High. He picked up where Lanngston left off. He played 4 sports including hockey and was co-captain of the JV baseball team. He enjoyed working out and hanging with his friends. They two brothers were always together and although they fought, they remained the best of friends. That was until Nikki Young came into the picture. Nikki Young was the only child. She had just recently moved to Pleasantview at the beginning of the school year with her parents. She was a freshman with London and they shared some of the same classes. She too loved sports and played on the girl's softball team. And London had the biggest crush on her. One night while walking downtown London bumped into Nikki.
London: Hey Nik (he talked nervously)
Nikki: Hey London what's going on. I didn't see you yesterday in 5th period.
London: yeah I had a doctor's appointment. Nikki: So are you going to Peter's pool Party Saturday? I heard his parent's weren't going to be home.
London: Yeah well I might. I had something to do that night.
Nikki: Oh come on. You have to go. They say it's going to be the party of the month.
London: If you go then I'll go. Nikki: Alright that what I'm talking about.
Just as the two hi-fived, Lanngston came out of the store.
Lanngston: What are you so happy about? London: Oh, Nikki, this is my brother Lanngston.
Nikki: I didn't know you had a brother. I'm Nikki Young
Lanngston: Lanngston. Cute name. It fits you.
Nikki began to blush. London looked between the both of them.
London: Ok let's get going I'm starving. Lanngston: Well wait a minute. Would you like to go with us. We're going to get something from Charlie's.
Nikki: Well I shouldn't. I don't want to be a third wheel.
Lanngston: No. Please. There's nothing like meeting new people. It's on us.
Nikki: Well if you insist. London watched as his brother was putting on the charm for Nikki. He was getting a little irritated. It was the same talk he gave every girl. I love that perfume. You have a wonderful smile. Blah, Blah, Blah. But he knew that Nikki was different and she wasn't going to fall for his high school antics. Nikki: So how about Mr. Keller's class the other day. Booorrring
London: I know what you're saying I almost fell asleep in Chemistry.
Lanngston: But I thought Chemistry was your favorite topic.
London gave his brother a dirty look.
London: It's ok. I prefer working math.
Nikki: Me too. I got accepted to take honors trigonometry. Langston: So you might be in my class
Nikki: Really.
Langston: yeah. Maybe we can study together.
Nikki: I'd like that Langston.
London couldn't believe it. Here is brother was trying to steal his girl. Or almost girl. The rest of the evening they kept talking on and on about stuff. London was so furious he told his best friend Trista. Trista and London were neighbors and she was just like one of the guys to him.
London: I can't believe he would do something to me, his own brother.
On and on he kept talking. Trista could tell he was upset, so she offered to take him out for Simbugers.
London: Trista, you know just how to make a guy feel good. I'll tell you the rest on the way. It had been days and Lanngston was tying up the phone constantly. He and Nikki were growing closer. She would invite him over to her house for study dates and she would come over to the Carters. Meanwhile, London was getting annoyed about his brother and Nikki. He was getting most of the attention from her and when they hung out she talked about Lanngston. So he decided to make his move before it was too late. Nikki: I'm so glad you asked me out to this place. I heard it was has one of the best seafood dinners.
London: I'm glad you like it.
Nikki: So what was so important that it couldn't wait till tomorrow at school.
London: I like you.
Nikki: Awwh. I like you too.
London: I know you might have a lot of guys asking you but I think you're one of the greatest people I know. That's why I want to know if you'd be my date to homecoming. Nikki: Oh London. I already told Lanngston I'd go with him.
London: Langston?
Nikki: Yeah. He just asked me a couple of days ago. Are you ok? London: Sure I'm ok. But he really wasn't. The irritated feeling he was having had grew and now he was going to boil over. He was quiet the rest of the time they ate. And when it was time to go he said his goodbye to Nikki and went looking for his brother. He found him at the Sportsplex playing pool with some friends. Without hesitation, he grabbed his brother by the arm and swung him around.
London: I can't believe. You stabbed me in the back!
Lanngston: What are you talking about
London: I'm talking about Nikki. She was mine. Lanngston: You're crazy bro. Nikki isn't your girl and she doesn't want to be.
London: She would have been if you hadn't pulled that lame act on her. I've seen you around other girls. It's the exact same lines.
Lanngston: Look. I'm sorry you thought she was going to date you but odviously she's just not that in to you. London: Well I wonder how she feels after she meets your last girlfriends. You treated them like dogs.
Lanngston: That's low. Why are you hating.
London: Because she was my girl. Everything you want you get. For once let there be something for me.
Lanngston: Whatever. I'm not going to fight over her. She wants to go out with me and not you.
London: If you're not going to fight me then play me.
Lanngston: What! Are we children again.
London: Darts. You win I'll leave you two alone. I win, you let her off easy and don't speak to her anymore.
Lanngston: I can't believe you. He hesitated and picked up the darts.
Lanngston: Winner takes all
London: Best of three.
Lanngston took one look and aimed as hard as he could for the darts. He was never as good as London. But this time he won.
Nikki: Thanks for taking me out. I had a really good time at the movies.
Lanngston: It was my pleasure. I enjoyed your company.
He kissed her goodbye softly on the cheek.
