Patton station was build before or in spite of the standardization of rail road structures, and is of an early industrial deco design rather than the spanish modern.

Not just a fine restaurant featuring excellent western cuisine, but an exercise in driving and a test of nerves. Off of the 60 Freeway, it's a little hard to get to, but worth it once you're there. Just make sure who ever's driving isn't drinking.

There's not a lot there, honestly, it's just a stretch of protected beach at the bottom of crumbling bluffs. Unless you want to go up the beach a way and visit the San Onofre Nuclear Power Plant!

In-N-Out - It's what a burger is all about! One of the original drive-through fast food restaurants, and only on the West Coast, In-N-Out burger stands haven't changed appreciably since they were first built in the late '40s.

Gothic style was mildly popular in California for particularly churches. It was felt that transplanting the older style of architecture to the new state would give more of a sense of permanence than the adobe Spanish missions. Go figure.

Located off of the Ten freeway, this strange little entertainment center seems to have been there at least as long as the freeway, which would put it at about the 1960s.

Around 1970, in Torrance, CA, someone had a brilliant idea. A theme mall. Thus, the Olde Towne Mall, on Hawthorne Blvd., was born. It's gone now, but what a ride while it was there.
