This lovely Victorian is designed to re-capture the charm and ambience fo turn-of-the-century houses. While it does look like and older home, the floorplan is designed to accompdate modern lifestyles. It features a single story floorplan with 3 bedrooms, 2 baths, formal dining room and a 2 car garage.

I'm ecclectic in my taste for houses, but I love old houses the most. I grew up in a small town in north Texas where old victorian houses reigned on tree-lined streets. It wasn't hard to imagine ladies sitting on porches in white lawn dresses sipping southern sweet tea (if its not so sweet it hurts your teeth, it's not southern sweet tea) or playing croquet on lawns so green and thick they looked like carpet.

Of course, all of those houses were white, but as a general rule, or so the research I've done tells me, Victorian era houses were rarely white, inside or outside. There are as many color schemes as there are individiual imaginations, from the more subtle colors of nature to the bold and flashy Painted Ladies.

I stumbled on a few sites with authentic and/or historic floorplans and found this lovely little victorian that I knew I had to try to build. I hope I have done justice to it. Thanks for the input. I love old houses too.
Actually, I did play the house.
As for a basement, I agree, they are great add ons, but I wanted  to stick with the original floor plan as much as possible, which is also why the bathrooms are the size they are.
I debated using a single bed in the room you mentioned, but they don't have the benefits of the full sized ones. I decided it could work for a child or teen, thus it wouldn't be critical for sims to be able to get to the other side of the bed. 
The only thing I really changed compared to the floor plans was detaching the garage. Where I grew up, garages were never attached to the older homes. They were always separate and set back from the house. To have been true to what I grew up with, I should have set the garage farther away than I did, which would have meant a larger lot as well.
I'd have loved to be able make the kind of flower gardens that were common to the era (at least where I grew up) but the basegame doesn't have nearly enough plants and so far, I have found precious few CC plants.

I like old houses, as well, and live in an Arts and Crafts home built in 1926.
Several comments to conisider.  I have found basements to be quite nice, and with WA there really is no reason not to include one.  They can be used as rec rooms, play rooms, or to simply store the stuff the sims accumulate on their adventures.  If I use this in game, I will retrofit a basement.
I notice in one of the bedrooms, the double bed is up against a wall.  A double bed against a wall can only be use on one side -- the other side is inaccessible by other sims.  This tells me that you did not actually play this house?
I also noticed that the bathrooms are gigantic, which unfortunately, takes space away from other rooms.
But the design did include a garage.  A really expensive home like this one should have a garage.  The floorplan is quite sensible and practical.
