Not long after Victoria became Queen, a crisis in English politics forced a change in government and Robert Peel as the leader of his party should have become Prime Minister. Attached to Lord Melbourne, Victoria refused and Peel was forced to yield to Victoria's iron will. However, after Victoria married and Melbourne's government couldn't function anymore, Albert convinced Victoria to let Peel be Prime Minister, which turned out for the best.
