From Clovis I and his wife Clothilde (top) the Kingdom of the Franks was split among theirs sons and later joined together as various lines died out. Finally however, the Merovingian Line fell from its grand beganings and the Kingdom of the Franks (or Francia) began to be ruled by the Mayors of the Place, the Carolingians.
