Omni Plants are the ultimate shrub, available only to the most skilled gardener. These plants will grow more of anything that is fed to it. Here you can see the rare Robot Fish growing in abundance!

Relationships

• Being animal themselves, werewolves stand a good chance of being able to successfully pet a Skunk without being sprayed.
• Servo's make great skunk shoo'ers, as they have no Hygiene or Comfort needs. Spraying will not affect them, so if you have Open for Business, keep a Servo handy in the garden!
• The 8pm werewolf transformation can frighten, or realize werewolf related fears in Sims in the same room, so move lycanthropic Sims to enclosed rooms before they change.

Careers & Skills

• Werewolves (especially ones with high Charisma) make the most efficient pet trainers.
• Teaching birds to talk makes them valuable, and an always available source of social satisfaction.
• The "Kibble of Life" is an Aspiration Reward Objects that Sims can buy for their pets to eat from. It comes with 5 charges, each of which can be used to extend an animals life by 3 days. The 5 green jewels around the bowl will each turn red with use (can also be used as a food bowl).
• Sims with a home business in OFB can make money taking on free animals (from Create-A-Pet or strays), training them up and selling them in their stores.
• Energy and Hygiene will not affect a working animal's job performance, but some quality play time before the car pool arrives can provide a real boost.
• If you want to train your pets quickly, always max out on Genius. You may miss out on some of their amusing behaviour, but you will have a well-mannered animal!

• To see an animal offspring's trait details, use the phone to register the pet, then look it up in breed Bin of Create a Pet.
• "Lycanthropic-B" is the potion cure for werewolves. It can be bought from the Pet Trainer or (if Nightlife is installed) the Gypsy Matchmaker.

• Finicky pets are unlikely to eat from the "Good Value Pet Bowl".

• Pets can only die of old age and their ghosts will interact only with other ghosts (including Sim ghosts)

Build Mode

• The new Diagonal Room Tool also works with half-height walls and fences. Hold Ctrl+D to toggle. To use the Octagonal Room Tool, use CTRL+E.
• Quarter Tile floors are another new addition, allowing you make elaborate patterns from existing floors. To use this feature, press Ctrl+F. Delete a quarter of an existing tile by holding Ctrl.
• Floor tiles can be rotated with Pets. Use the < > keys to turn them before placing in the game.
• Edgers can be used to tidy up edges between two floor types and can be found in the Build Mode>>Miscellaneous>>Fence Tool. They have no divisional functionality in the game and are purely to improve visuals for our purposes, not Sims.
• You can prevent pets from running away be surrounding the Lot with a fence and gate, and setting the gate to exclude pet use.

Buy Mode

• In Pets, buy/build mode "Collections" have been overhauled and now allow for renaming, rearranging and icon changes. Move items around by dragging them, or using the keyboard cursor keys (up, down, left, right).

Gameplay

• Avoid placing Womrat cages in Sims' bedrooms. When the Womrat uses its wheel it will wake sleeping Sims
• Like the Womrat, keep the bird cage out of Sims' bedroom to avoid being woken by squawking.
• With Pets, doors in the house can be locked to exclude animals from particular areas.
• The "Los Gatos Condominium" is a good investment for Sims with cats. It sleeps 4 at a time, does not cause any ownership arguments and never needs cleaning (but it doesn't allow or pet WooHoo).
• Sims will not bathe even the dirtiest of dogs autonomously; they have to be directed to do it.

• Buying a collar for your pets makes their return far more likely should they run away.
• Using the "Check Collar" interaction on a stray animal allows your Sim to return the pet to another of your playable Sims
• Puppies and Kittens cannot climb stairs or use elevators, but like toddlers, they can be carried on either by Sims.
• Generally, if a Sim receives an adult pet as a child, the pet will die around the same time the Sim becomes an elder. If the pet reproduces around the middle of its adult stage, the child Sim should live to see 2 or 3 generations of the pet's line.

• For Home Businesses, be sure to lock doors to family members only to keep Employees out of your refrigerators and beds!
• Any one business can only earn 10 of the possible 25 business perks. To earn more, a Sim must own more than one business.
• Long lines to pay can be relieved by opening another register. Any Sims after the first two in line will automatically go to the new register.
• Use the 'For Sale Tool' on a display to change the price of all items displayed on it.
• Using the phone to check in on a rank 10 business takes just 15 Sim minutes, while a rank 1 business can take 4 hours!

• Sim's who die from 'Death by Rally Forth' have a white ghost which carries a megaphone!

Gameplay

• Elevators can break during use (either in normal use or for WooHoo), and will crash to the floor. This can be fatal for Sims!
• Snapdragon Bouquet's boost all of the needs of a Sim viewing them. Great for placing in shops to boost customer buying potential! When broken however, they reduce needs!
• With OFB, Lots can now be renamed using the new button on the Neighborhood view Lot information box.

Relationships

• During a date, Most Sims get a 'Positive Date Event' for having their picture taken together in a booth. Avoid it for Shy Sims though, as this will count as a 'Negative Date Event'.
• A date that could be defined as ending "horribly" could result in your receiving a flaming bag of poo on your doorstep! Aim for a "Dream Date" instead, as a bouquet of flowers is far more welcome!

• When out on the town looking for a hot date, keep a bottle of cologne in your Sims' inventory in case that special Sim has a hotspot for it.
• The "downtownies" (Sims from NL Downtown areas) have better jobs, higher skills and more money, making them great targets for Sims looking for a relationship!

• The new "Grilled Cheese" Aspiration comes with a single lifetime want of eating 200 grilled cheese sandwiches!

Personalities

• Vampires will not cast a reflection in any mirrors. Creepy!
• The "Scope Room" Self Interaction will indicate which Sims in the room you are attracted to.

Food

• Crepes are a new desert Sims can cook at home and, like the Baked Alaska, can be a gastronomical delight, being set aflame as they are served. A Sim will need a cooking skill of 7 or more to prepare them though.
• When eating out you can use the "Skip out on Bill" option to gain a free meal. Avoid capture for 45 seconds to get away with it!
• A tired Sim can make a complete fool of themselves if they fall asleep at the dining table during a group gathering!
• Free meal coupons for restaurants can turn up in the mail as a result of eating out. Drop it on the ground to pass it between Sims if you wish.
  

Build Mode

• Garages can be made bigger than the driveway section by using matching floor tiles. Try "Asymmetric Tesselations in Umber" or "Square Off in Ochre" for Brick, "Sid's Cement" flooring or "Terrific Tarmac" asphalt for concrete.
• With Nightlife, floor tiles will now cover sloped terrain without all the hassle described for the basic game!

• All Sims cars' have infinite seating, so you can transport as many Sims as you like for a gathering or Downtown trip.

Gameplay

• Career and Aspiration Rewards, Personal Photo's and Art can now be taken with them when a Sim moves, thanks to the new Inventory feature.

Relationships

• Playing Kicky Bag is a good way to build relationships with several Sims at once.
• Zobies can WooHoo, but they cannot get a Sim pregnant.

• The fastest way to earn grade points is hacking into your grades using a computer. Group research with 5 Sims can also be very efficient use of time.
• When trying to build Influence, look for Wants & Fears which are surrounded with a blur border.
• A high body skill Sim can earn big money as a Personal Trainer at the campus gym, but will also gain more body skill at the same time!

Personalities

• Sims who have been to college can be identified by an extra age icon below their portrait.
• Influencing a rejected kiss can be valuable when trying to break up other Sims' relationships. 
   

Death

• Don't spend more than §8,513 on the Ressurect-O-Nomitron, as spending more will not decrease the chance of a Zombie appearance!

• To use Build Mode on a Dorm you need to use the cheat code: boolProp dormSpecificToolsDisabled false
• Dorm room doors remain unlocked for all Sims to enter until you instruct your Sim to lock it.
• Be sure to place a sprinkler above the Counterfeit Machine.. They burn up regularly!
• With University, walls can be built above existing walls without the need to add flooring first.

Gameplay

• Cow Plants that eat Sims produce Milk which acts as an elixir, allowing the drinking Sim an extra 5 days at their current life stage.

Relationships

• The easiest Marriage Relationship to maintain is a Fortune Aspiration Sim, and a stay-at-home Family Sim.
• The hardest relationship is Romance and Family, because most of the Wants and Fears are in direct conflict with each other.
• If you want to create adult siblings without having the elder parents in the living family, create the Elders first and then use 'Make A Child' for each sibling. Create the Family Tree and then delete the Elders. You can then have a family which has been genetically created by 2 Sims with no actual living parents.

• Friendship Scores decay by 2 points per day. These can be maintained with a simple phone call. 1 Sim Hour's interaction every 5 days is enough to maintain a friendship.
• Each member of a household has their own Social Bunny. If more than one Social Bunny turns up on the same Lot, they will begin to interact with each other. Bunnies of the same color Fight, Irritate and Play together. Bunnies of differing colors will Entertain, Appreciate and Play with each other. Blue and Pink Bunnies become romantically attached!
• Really Outgoing Sims will use Hot Tubs and Pools naked, and can intimidate others joining to do the same.

• If you plan to have a Sim living alone, Knowledge is the best Aspiration. It's the easiest to achieve in a one man/woman lifestyle.
• Children can learn cooking skills and provide food by making muffins in the toy oven.
• Kids that get good grades while at Private School come home with skill point bonuses instead of cash
• Toddlers learn skills fastest if you haven them on Smart Milk while the parent is wearing the Thinking cap during lessons.

• Paintings done by high Creativity Skill Sims can be hung on the wall to increase in value. Hold on to them for a while to make a tidy income from painting. Their value increases dramatically when the creator dies!
• Job offers in newspapers all start at Level 1, while job offers on Computers will be offered 2 levels below that of an existing job. (If you are currently employed at Level 8, jobs that you find will start at level 6)
• Retired Sims gets a pension of one-half their salary when they retire (paid out one-seventh every day), even if they get another job as an Elder.
• When trying to impress the Private School Headmaster, but expensive items like Hot Tubs and Art. You can sell them back for a full refund immediately after he leaves.
• Swimming Pools at Community Lots are great for building Body. Sims always return home 2 hours after leaving for the Community Lots, so this can be a time efficient way of gaining a skill during your Sims normal daily routine.

Personalities

• Teens with ongoing low Hygiene can suffer from Zits (their 5 day average Hygiene must be below 50). Spots can be treated using the 'Apply Acne Cream' interaction in a mirror.
• Neat Sims will actually gain Fun from cleaning, while Sloppy Sim will loose it!
• Outgoing and very Lazy Sims can relieve themselves on a shrub, but only when their bladder need is very low!
• Sims spend a set amount of time at each age group. Age Transition occurs at 7pm, unless you do it earlier by having a Party or using the Grow Up self interaction. These are the terms in Sim days:
  
  - Babies: 3 days
  - Toddlers: 4 days
  - Children: 8 days
  - Teens: 15 days
  - Young Adults: 4 college years + 2 days (University Only)
  - Adults: 29 days
  - Elders: 9 to 31 days

• Sloppy and lazy Sims will actually 'relieve' themselves in the shower, boosting their bladder as well as their hygiene. Eww!
• A Sim Family adopting a child might well get one from another of your Sim families that had a child taken away!
• A Sim can change his interests by reading Magazines, which may be necessary to build a relationship with a Sim who has opposing interests to your Sim. These are the interests that can be improved by reading the relevant magazines:
  - The Superstar Report: Entertainment/Fashion/Sports
  - Beyond Belief: Sci-Fi /Paranormal/Health
  - Young Sim: Toys/Animals/School
  - Rat Race: Work/Money/Crime
  - Highbrow Review: Politics/Culture/Environment

Food

• Pizza's never spoil! If you order deliveries but do not accept them, they pile up at the door. These Pizzas can then be picked up at any time for an immediate food boost.
• Sloppy Sims can eat out of trashcans! It's a free source of nourishment, but it's not very satisfying and can cause illness.
• Children can learn cooking skills and provide food by making muffins in the toy oven.

• Serving coffee and espresso is very important to keep visiting Sims on your Lot as it's the only way for them to top up their Energy. They can't use the machine themselves, so make sure you are the 'hostess with the mostess'!
• Sims who drink too much espresso or coffee can start to visibly shake.
• Tight budgeted Sims can save on delivery charges by shopping for groceries at a Community Lot (there is no fee for a Taxi).

Death

• A lot of Flies in a Sim house can converge into a swarm that can actually kill a Teen, Adult or Elder Sim. 'Death By Flies'!
• There are 9 ways a Sim can die: Old Age, Drowning, Electrocution, Burning, Starvation, Satellite, Death By Flies, Disease & Scared To Death.
• If there is no living Sims on the Lot when the Reaper comes, there is a change that he will watch some TV or use the bathroom before he leaves.

You're not due until Friday!

• Sims watching the clouds or stargazing run the slight risk of a satellite landing on them (resulting in Death, naturally). All is not lost though, as the Satellite can be sold in Build Mode!
• Ghosts wake sleeping Sims so keep earns out of bedrooms.
• 'Death By Drowning' is the only way a Sim can die without any option to plead with the Reaper (he can't be engaged when he is over water).

Build Mode

• The more expensive a Wall or Floor covering, the greater it adds to the Environment Score of the room.
• Make sure that you Sim or Gardener can access all areas of your garden. Islands in bodies of water will end up covered in weeds, as will fenced off areas if unattended.
• It is possible to build flooring on slopes with only the base game! Surround an area with a fence first and hold the shift key when putting the floor down, then delete the fence.

Buy Mode

• Spend as much as you can on a quality bed. A cheap bed only provides full rest after about 9 game hours. Medium beds require 7.5 hours but a quality bed only needs 6 hours to fully recuperate a Sim.
• The main difference between a shower and a bath is that the bath also provides Comfort. An even higher Comfort level can be achieved by using bubble bath, although the Hygiene fills more slowly.
• Objects sold back before midnight on the day of purchase will have a full refund value, even if it was used. The only exceptions are Computers and Build Mode objects.
• Swing Sets connect when placed next to each other in the same orientation

• When trying to impress the Private School Headmaster, but expensive items like Hot Tubs and Art. You can sell them back for a full refund immediately after he leaves.
• Paintings, Grandfather Clocks and Sculptures are the only Buy Mode items that do not depreciate in value. On he contrary, they often appreciate in value over time.
• Can't afford a Dishwasher? Sloppy Sims can actually lick dirty plates clean. Nasty!
• Don't let Sims with less that 5 mechanical Skill Points wind up the Grandfather Clock. Chances are they break it beyond repair!
• Burglar alarms are essential and will pay for themselves in rewards from captured Burglars. Put one in any room with an exterior entrance that is accessed from ground level.
• The Sims 2 Content Manager" was made available around the time Nightlife was and can be downloaded from thesims2.com. An absolute must have for managing your downloaded Custom Content!

Gameplay

• If you have Free Will turned on, never cancel a Sim in the middle of cooking. Food put in the oven and then left there will almost certainly start a fire!
• Place a cheap end table near the mailbox. Keep it clear so that Bills are always placed there, rather than being taken off into the house or left on the floor. Makes them easier to find, and less easy to forget.
• Sloppy Sims walking past your House might rummage through your Garbage. Grouchy Sims might kick it over. Gnomes are also at risk from Moody Sims who can steal your prized Garden Ornaments!
• Plants grown using the Hydroponic Garden can be used as attractive House Plants, or can be sold in Buy Mode.

• The number of Sims that you will find on a Community Lot or invited to your Parties will be determined by your computers' performance.
• Clothing Booths in Community Lots can be used as a public venue for WooHoo!
• Sims will remember in which bed, and on which side of a double bed they sleep if you are consistent when sending them bed the first few occasions.
• When a Sim is juggling Coffee Cups or Espresso Mugs, other Sims can click on the Juggling Sim to 'Join In'.

• During Burglaries, try blocking exits by placing Sims at doorways until Police arrive to prevent escape.
• When hiring a Nanny, the Sim making the call dictates the times the nanny will come (She will cover that Sims working hours). Be use to use the Sim with the earliest start time in the house to get the Nanny there as early as possible.
• When planning a party, have the Sim with the most friends make the call to increase the chances of a well attended function.
