Canceling Your PayPal Subscription

1. Go to the following address with your web browser:

3. Click on the "Details" link next to the subscription you wish to cancel (this is the blue text link in the list of results). You will be taken to a Transaction Details page from which you may cancel the subscription.
   
4. Scroll down to the bottom of the page. There you will see a button called "Cancel subscription" - click this button and then conform the cancellation on the next page. Now your subscription is canceled.
   
5. If there is no such button it means that the subscription is no longer active, it has either already been canceled or it has reached it's end of term.
   
6. Canceling your subscription will immediately stop all future scheduled payments for this subscription, it will not entitle you to a refund on unused days.
   
7. If you do intend to cancel your subscription be sure to do it in plenty of time before the next scheduled payment.

So what is it?

The TSR Installation Wizard has been designed to completely manage your downloaded and installed files from The Sims Resource. No more need for WinZip ort even Explorer! You can forget all about extracting files to the correct game folders and concentrate on expanding and playing your favourite game instead!

TSR's subscribers will be able to install individual items, skins, houses and even entire design sets at the click of a link. Spend time browsing the site, adding content to your download basket as you go. When you're finished, hit the install link and all of your selected items will be installed to your game fo inclusion the next time you load it up. That's it - quick, simple and fun!

You can even use the Wizard to view the items that you have installed into your game, and remove them as and when you like, again at the single click of a link. You will even see the preview image of the items in your game, not just the easy to mistake name. You can even remove all related items from sets just as quickly and easily!

How it works

The TSR Installation Wizard installs the files in the right location (the game data library) with a single click on the "Install with Wizard" button available for each file in our archives. After installing one item, the "Install" button will be replaced with an "Installed" button - click on this button if you want to remove an installed item.

Note: You can't uninstall houses in the same way that you can uninstall other items like objects and skins. All house files must exist in the game, or it will fail to load. To remove a downloaded house, bulldoze it in the game, or download another house for the same Lot to overwrite it.

If you for some reason would like to disable the wizard on the item pages, this can be done by either clicking on "Disable wizard" in the left submenu of all download pages or by going to the preferences and selecting "No" for "Display wizard". You can still put the items in the download basket and use to wizard to install all items you've placed there.

Will it work?

The Installation Wizard only works on Windows and with the following browsers:

- Internet Explorer (5, 5.5 and 6)
- Mozilla browsers (Firefox 0.9 and Mozilla 1.6) with 3:Rd party ActiveX-plugin, not guaranteed to work.

Wizard Frequently Asked Questions

1. Is the TSR Installation Wizard only for subscribers?
   Yes, the TSR Installation Wizard is only for subscribers to TSR.
2. What technology does the Wizard use?
   The Wizard is created as an ActiveX component. This means it only works with Windows. Only Windows IE has native support for ActiveX.
3. Does the Wizard work with Mac?
   The Wizard is Windows only.
4. Does the Wizard work with Netscape or Opera?
5. No, the Wizard does not work with Netscape or Opera as they do not support ActiveX.
6. When I am prompted to install the Installation Wizard, it says "IBIBI AB" as the publisher instead of "TSR" - why?
   IBIBI AB is the company responsible for running TSR. Certificates can only be issued to registered company, that's why we can't have "TSR" there even though we might like to.
7. I don't want to use the Installation Wizard - how do I disable it?
   You can click the link "Disable Wizard" on any item page.
8. Where are the individual files installed?
   - Regular skins, Heads and Animal Skins are put in GameData, Skins.
   - Walls and Murals are put in GameData, Walls, TSRdownloads.
   - Floors are put in in in GameData, Floors, TSRdownloads.
   - Objects are put in GameData, UserObjects, TSRdownloads.
   - For houses, you select in which neighborhood to place the .iff file. That is, the .iff file is put in UserData, Houses - where is the neighborhood you select. Walls, Floors and Roofs that come with the house is placed in the normal location for those items.
   - Sets are just a collection of other items, mostly objects, and those items are put in the normal directory for that item type.
9. Can I change the directory where the items are installed?
   In the current version of the Installation Wizard you can't - but in a future version you might.
10. The Installation Wizard gives me an error saying "Could not initizlize SQLLite" - how do I solve this?
    Please try to close all browser windows, and then open a new one. If this doesn't help, please try to reboot your computer.
11. My wizard loads and ends up "Wizard Not Installed" - how do I install it?
    The reason for this could be one of many. A common reason is the new Win XP Service Pack 2 security blocker that automatically blocks the installation/loading of the wizard, unless you manually change it. To do this, you need to click on the "Security Bar" that appears at the top of the page (it has a shield icon) and follow the instructions there.
12. My wizard still ends up "Wizard Not Installed" - why?
    You need to have access to install programs on the computer. On Windows XP only administrators and privelieged users can do this.
13. I have ActiveX installed - I still get an error saying "Incorrect version" or the loading screen hangs?
    This is because the automatic update meant to happen does not work in Mozilla browsers and in rare cases fails in Windows IE. You need to uninstall your wizard and reinstall it again. There is only one way to do this if you use an old version of the Wizard. Locate your "Downloaded Program Files" folder, usually located in C:\WINDOWS\. In that folder you need to remove the program called TSRFileManagerXControl. Now your Wizard is removed and the newest version should install automatically when you visit one of the download pages. Once you have the new Wizard installed you can easily uninstall it by clicking on the "Uninstall wizard" link in the left menu on all download pages.
14. How do I install the Wizard?
    The wizard should be installed automatically but if it doesn't install you can download the installer and install yourself. You can download it here. If you have enabled your Wizard on the Account Settings/Preferences page it should install automatically when you go to a download page. You can at any time choose to disable the Wizard from the Preferences page, and naturally enable it again at any time.
15. If the automatic update fails, how do I manually delete the old version so I can get the newest?
    If you have installed the wizard using the Installer you can remove the wizard by opening the "Control Panel" and then "Add remove programs".
    
    If the wizard has been installed automatically:
    Locate your "Downloaded Program Files" folder, usually located in C:\WINDOWS\. In that folder you need to remove the program called TSRFileManagerXControl. Now your Wizard is removed and the newest version should install automatically when you visit one of the download pages. Once you have the new Wizard installed you can easily uninstall it by clicking on the "Uninstall wizard" link in the left menu on all download pages.
16. The wizard tells me to set the installation path, how do I find the right one?
    The wizard will automatically find the installation path for the games if they are installed the normal way. The path for Sims 1 files should be the installation path of The Sims 1, no other path will do. For Sims 2 the path should be "My Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2". If you are asked to set the path it means that the wizard could not find it by itself.

• If we find out or suspect that you are sharing our subscriber files in any way, your account may be deleted without warning.

History and Authors

Recolors
Shortly after the release of Sims 2, a lot of thought and experimenting went into making it possible to recolor the meshes provided by Maxis. The breakthrough came through the joint efforts of Pinhead, RGiles and Numenor (and many other testers). Thanks to their efforts we are now able to recolor maxis meshes, as well as custom made meshes provided by other artists in the community.

SimPE
To make it easier to recolor content, a talented programmer called Quaxi developed the most known and used tool for custom content today: SimPE. This tool allows you to modify every aspect of the game, including items, and make it your own. The recoloring principles are based on the CEP methods and uses a plugin called ObjectWorkshop developed by RGiles and Numenor. This is the single most important tool for custom content today, comparable with the Transmogrifier for Sims 1.

CEP
RGiles and Numenor also developed what is known as CEP (Color Enabler Package) that made it possible to recolor meshes that initially did not support this. A lot of new meshes from Maxis are now recolored using this technique, check the official CEP site for the latest version.

Meshtool
Roughly a year after the breakthrough with recolors, the first custom made meshes became available. This was a huge step forward when it comes to custom content and opened so many doors for the many talented artists out there. The first tool for this was developed by Delphy and Miche and was simply called the Meshtool. This tool is no longer in development but should be mentioned due to it's importance.

Unimesh
Shortly after Meshtool came a set of plugins for the most common 3D program used for Sims 2: Milkshape. This tool was single handedly developed by Wes Howe and is today the most used tool for creating unique meshes. It is advanced enough to even animate hair meshes, originally thanks to a plugin developed by Skankyboy, but now with full support directly through the tool itself.

Tutorials
A lot of artists would not be where they are today without the excellent tutorials provided by the community. Among the most prominent tutorial authors are Dr Pixel, Numenor, Windkeeper, HystericalParoxysm, CycloneSue, WDSBrianna, Tiggerypum, Tiko, Simaddict99, J.Woods, MikeInside and IgnorantBliss. There are many more to mention here, but rest assured we as part of the community appreciate your efforts.

The Sims Resource (TSR) was created in August 1999, a full 6 months before 'The Sims 1' was released, by which time we had over 1,000 downloads available for the game. The site has maintained itself as the largest site supporting 'The Sims' games ever since.

TSR was created with an ethos to "Create & Share". We provide the tools and information needed for people to create items to expand 'The Sims' games and then encourage them to share those creations with the massive gaming community. We provide feedback for their work in the form of download counts, thanks and guestbook's, and reward them with free access to download the work of their fellow creators.

When the internet advertising industry bubble burst a few years ago, TSR, like most other large download sites, was faced with a dilemma. The cost of maintaining the site was starting to outweigh the income from advertising, and so the decision was made to provide both free content and subscription only facilities at the site. After much tweaking this has since proved to be a very successful way of providing a huge amount of quality content for both free site users and those willing or able to pay a small amount towards the running and development costs of the site, in return for full access to over 600,000 downloads with enhanced tools and features for sorting, searching and installing their favorite items into the game.

As the site has grown we have taken on board many 'Featured Artists' who's creations have proven to be among the very best available in the Sims community. You can also take part in the community discussions, either in the busy forums which hold years of discussion and information, or the live chat room which is staffed and moderated 24 hours a day to maintain a safe and friendly chat environment for all. You can access all of the cheats, tips, strategy and other information pages at the site, as well as take part in competitions and events.

Free users will see advertising banners on most pages of the site. These ads help to cover the costs of your usage of the site and services.

Subscription Membership

Gives you everything free members have plus unrestricted access to the entire database of downloads available at the site from faster, dedicated servers without any restrictions. You also have the luxury of using our exclusive Install Wizard which will take the items you like and install them in to your game with one click (or in batches using the excellent download basket). This tool has proved invaluable to users that have found the extracting of files into the correct game folders a little too daunting or complicated!

Subscription members will not see any advertising banners at the site as long as their account is paid up. Your subscription is covering your costs of using the site, so ads are not necessary.

Tip: With either account, you might like to enable the sending out of our monthly newsletter which keeps you up to date with the goings on at TSR as well with official news about patches and expansion packs. It also features interviews with interesting people from the community, game tips, downloads and a free prize draw every month. You will see this option in your Preferences Page under the Account Tab.

  After choosing either a free or subscription account (start with a free account to be able to tryout the downloads) you will asked for a username (your identity here on TSR0 and then to verify a password and mail address. If you use a Spam Blocker you should set it to allow any mail from the domain .thesimsresource.com'. After entering some limited personal info, agree to our Abuse Warning and Terms & Conditions and then submit. And that's it, you are logged in and ready to go!

• Submissions
  

  If you would like to submit your work to TSR then this is the place to start. Your submissions will be seen by hundreds of thousands of people and will build up your Profile Page to create a presence for you within the Sims community. Whether you want to share the Houses and Lots that you have built in the game, or your first attempts at walls and floors, even those top quality objects and clothing items that you have skillfully created, submitting them to TSR will get them the exposure they deserve!

• You may not recolor creations downloaded from TSR, unless you get express permission from the original artist.
• Meshes made by Featured Artists may not be uploaded elsewhere and, if you upload recolors of them to other sites, you must include a link for people to come to TSR to download the mesh.
• You may not upload any creations you download from here on any other site, including the official exchange.
• You may not link directly to our files, you must link to the page(s) that contain the file and download link.
• We do not allow content that is not suitable for a PG13 audience, all such submissions will be rejected.
• When posting in the forums, be sure to read the forum specific rules first.
