Problems Logging In?

Important Notes: If you get "Page can't be found", "DNS Error", a white blank page, or similar, when trying to login from the front page (or other pages you have tried) try to login by using the login form at the top of this page.

If that still doesn't work - try to login from this page!

1. Forgot your password?
   

   Click here.

2. Login details
   

   You enter your e-mail address, not your username, together with the password at login.

3. Make sure you have the right cookies!
   

   Try clearing your cookies and log in again before you report a support issue. In many cases the cookies have been the cause of log in problems. See more information about cookie settings below.

4. Supported browsers
   

   Mozilla Firefox (0.93 or later), or Internet Explorer 6 or later, are the recommended browsers. AOL-specific browsers are NOT SUPPORTED, other browsers might or might not work. Rembember that cookies must be enabled.

5. Case sensitivity
   

   Password, but not email, is case sensitive. That is, passwords "piglet" and "PIGLET" are different.

6. AOL users
   

   We have experienced some problem regarding login with the AOL branded web-browser. It is recommended that AOL users use the browser that came with their operating system, i.e. Internet Explorer.

7. Still having problems?
   

   Some users have problems especially since the new release but have reported success when using our special login page:

   Direcway users and people with Norton Internet Security or personal firewall seem to have the most trouble with the new version.

Cookie Settings

TSR use cookies for its login system. This means that your browser needs to allow cookies (test if you have cookies enabled here). If you are concerned over general privacy on the WWW, there are ways to have a general high privacy set up but define an exception to the rule specifically for TSR.

Mozilla Firefox
Mozilla should allow cookies by default, but if you are concerned about your privacy on the Internet you may disable it... but the you must make an exception and allow it for thesimsresource.com. To do this, follow the steps below.
In the menu, select Tools/Options..., and then click Privacy (the padlock) to the left. Open the cookie section by clicking the +. If you don't want to have cookies enabled by default, make sure that the "Allow the sites to set cookies" is not set. Now click "Exceptions".	In the field "Address of Web site:" enter thesimsresource.com - the click "Allow". This will take you back to the previous dialog - click "Ok".

Internet Explorer

In the menu, select Tools/Internet Options and the tab Privacy. If the slider is set in the position Medium or lower, the TSR cookies should already be allowed. However, if your desire is to have a higher pricacy you can move the slider up to either Medium/High or High (not Block All Cookies, however, as that will prevent TSR login to work under all conditions). Click Apply if you have changed the setting. Now click Edit to define the exception for TSR.

Enter thesimsresource.com in the field Address of Web site, and click Allow. Now click OK and your settings will take effect.

Netscape (example from 6.2)
In Netscape, you can find the cookie settings by selecting Edit/Preferences... in the menu, and then in the Category list select Privacy & Security/Cookies. Disable cookies may not be selected. The alternative Enable cookies for the originating web site only is the recommended setting.

Proxy Settings

If you have login problem, and your service provider have a proxy server, the problem might be in the proxy server. Below is an example how to set up IE6 not to use a proxy sever for TSR.

In the menu, select Tools/Internet Options... and the tab Connections. Click LAN Settings... If you are connecting to the WWW through a proxy, the box reading Use a proxy server for your LAN etc, will be checked. In this case, click Advanced. In the field Do not use proxy server for address beginning with:, enter www.thesimsresource.com. Klick OK. In the menu, select "Tools/Internet Options" and the tab "Connections", click "LAN Settings". If you are connecting to the WWW through a proxy, the box reading "Use a proxy server for your LAN" etc, will be checked. In this case, click "Advanced". In the field "Do not use proxy server for address beginning with:" enter www.thesimsresource.com and click OK.
