  • » Access to All Downloads:
You have full access to all downloads in our archives, while free members cannot download Featured Artist creations.

With the TSR Wizard you can automatically install/uninstall anything on TSR directly into your game, without having to download, unzip and manually put it in the correct folder. With the download basket you can place up to 200 items in a queue and then install them all in one go.

  • » No Advertising:
As a subscriber you won't see any advertising on TSR while browsing and downloading.

  • » Community Tools:
As a subscribed artist you have your own personal guestbook in which you can communicate with your fans and receive your well deserved praise.

Downloading and Installing Custom Content

Most people come to TSR to download from our archive of custom content (currently 582,670 files), so let us get you started quickly and easily with a couple of examples. Below you can see how the creations are presented on our downloads pages, but first some introduction to the main download methods we provide.

Different Download Options

To the right of the preview images below you can see 3 buttons, each representing a different method on downloading the creation. Here we describe the first two, which are available to both subscribers and free members.

Sims2Pack Files are the easiest to use if you prefer to download and store files rather than just drop them into your game. Downloaded as a .Sims2Pack file (a self installing package), you download the file and save it anywhere on your PC. Click on the downloaded file to run it and you will see the Installer open up which lists all of the components included. Click Install to add the creations to your game the next time it starts.

ZIP Files are for use by anyone that wants to have full control over their files. Once downloaded you can store the .zip anywhere you like, but will need to extract the game files into your game folders manually, but you can put them in your own unique folder structure if you choose. This option is for the experts really, and not a good place to start!

(Subscribers Only) The TSR Wizard is the quickest and easiest option, installing individual items at the click of a link (complete design sets can be installed with the wizard if you put it in the download basket). Spend time browsing the site, adding content to your download basket as you go. When you're finished, hit the install link and all of your selected items will be installed to your Sims 1 or Sims 2 game, and will be available the next time you load it up. That's it - quick, simple and fun (just like real shopping)! The TSR Wizard is explained in detail here.

(Subscribers Only) The Download Basket lets you put items in a "shopping basket" for later download either as a ZIP, a Sims2Pack, or directly installed with the Wizard.

Installation Instructions

Furnishing objects come in the form of a .package file which should be put in the folder "My Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2\Downloads\". This is done automatically if you use the Sims2Packs download option (or the Wizard if you're a subscriber), but you need to extract it manually from the ZIP if you use that download option.

When you have installed the new Furnishing object, you can locate it by going into "Buy Mode" in the game. Custom content are marked with a star (*).

Many Furnishing items are recolors of furniture meshes shipped with the game, others are based on custom made meshes which can be found on TSR and other Sims sites. You can tell if you need a custom mesh if you see the text "Get mesh from ..." below the item description. If a custom mesh is required, you need to download and install that mesh as well for the Object to show up in the game.

Installation Instructions

Clothing consists of a .package file which should be put in the folder "My Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2\Downloads\". This is done automatically if you use the Sims2Packs download option (or the Wizard if you're a subscriber), but you need to extract it manually from the ZIP if you use that download option.

To use the Clothing you just downloaded in the game, you must either select it when creating a new Sim, or go to a Community Lot and buy it from a clothing store.

Many Clothing items are recolors of clothing meshes shipped with the game, others are based on custom made meshes which can be found on TSR and other Sims sites. You can tell if you need a custom mesh if you see the text "Get mesh from ..." below the item description. If a custom mesh is required, you need to download and install that mesh as well for the Clothing to show up in the game.
