Hi!
Here's part 2 of my first Sims 3 story.
Please read part 1 first, you can find it on my mini page.
Sorry for mistakes, it's not my fault that English has such a difficult grammar :D
Rae Westbrook looked out of the window into the darkness. It was a beautiful night in Sunset Valley, warm and peaceful. Stars were shining blithely, slowly dancing in the deep blue sky. The woman sighed. All this calmness and happiness that she saw from the window irritated her. It was time to leave. All Rae's belongings were in the car already and she had no reason to stay in this little mountain cabin she had rented. Not anymore.
It was supposed to be easier, she thought, taking a deep breath. Rae had promised herself that she wouldn't cry tonight and so she wiped away the tears, took her baby from the crib and stepped outside.
Warm wind caressed her face and dried the wet stripes the tears had left there.
Rae carefully placed her sleeping son into the car.
Then she turned around to look at the house one last time.
She would never come back here. All the lies and secrets would stay behind the door she had just locked and she wouldl try to forget and move on with her life.
No happy memories. Rae hadn't been happy here. Yet a part of her wished she wouldn't have to leave.
Only a day ago Rae had given birth to her second child in this cabin. Alone, because no one was supposed to know about the baby.
Her husband Eric believed that she was somewhere else instead, taking care of her dying aunt. To cover up her pregnancy, Rae had made up so many horrible lies that it made her sick. But now it was too late to tell the truth...
Rae got into the car and started the engine. She had to go. She had a plane to catch and there was one more thing she had to do before going to the airport. She didn't want to think about it.
Instead, she imagined how good it wouldl feel to be home with her daughter again. Rae missed her little Nattie so much.
Natalie was sick. Rae had felt horrible to leave her for months but that was the only solution she had seen back then. So that she could be with her daughter again after... after having solved her problem.
Rae frowned on her own thought. It was a baby, not a problem. Her son. Everything was so wrong...
Everything had been so right just a few years ago. Rae had been so happy when she found out she was expecting a baby. Her husband Eric had been extremely excited to become a father. Their life had been perfect. The first time Rae saw her baby girl was the happiest moment of her life. Natalie was so tiny, so beautiful, a perfect little angel.
The doctors had told Rae that there were some complications but she didn't believe them. She had the most beautiful daughter in the world. Rae was so proud.
And then, on the third day of her life, Natalie stopped breathing. Rae's world fell apart. The doctors were able to save Nattie's life but things were never the same again.
Natalie's little heart kept failing her over and over again. The little girl had spent half of her life in different hospitals, having one surgery after another. Natalie's health problems almost ruined Rae's marriage. While Rae spent most of her time in hospitals with her daughter, Eric found it easier to bury himself in his work so that he wouldn't have to see his daughter suffering. Rae blamed Eric for not spending enough time with their daughter and Eric blamed Rae for not appreciating what he did for the family. Things had got a bit better about a year ago. Natalie was doing better and she could spend most of her time at home now instead of being in hospitals.
Rae was relieved, of course. A happy, normal childhood was all she wanted for her baby girl.
And then Rae had made a mistake. Just for one night, on her 32nd birthday, she had wished to forget all her problems, to go out and celebrate, to laugh again - something she had believed she deserved. But that night had consequences.
Rae couldn't imagine telling her husband she was pregnant with another man's baby. A man she didn't even know. She imagined what would happen if Eric found out - he'd throw her out from their home and Natalie would stay with her father. Rae couldn't let that happen.
At first Rae had hated the child growing inside her. Because of that baby she had to hide and lie and stay away from her daughter. She didn't want him.
At first she didn't want him...
Tears ran down the woman's face.
Rae had reached her destination. Almost. She parked the car and got out. She would continue on foot, the house she was heading to wasn't far anymore. Rae was grateful that there was no one around. No one to see her there with the baby.
She walked slowly, prolonging the time she had left to spend with her newborn son.
While walking Rae daydreamed. She imagined a little house - yellow, with white window frames, sunflowers growing by the front door. A garden full of flowers, Natalie catching butterflies. Laughter, sunshine. Rae cuddling her baby boy. Noah. That would be his name. Nattie calling him "brother". Just the three of them, no one else.
It was such a beautiful dream.
"We're here," Rae whispered and stopped then. She looked at the house. All the lights were off and that made her worried. What if no one's at home? Rae didn't know the couple living in the house. She had seen them at church some weeks ago.
It was a quiet morning and the church was almost empty - the woman didn't hear Rae entering. Her sobs caught Rae's attention. For some reason, she felt so sorry for the stranger.
Rae even considered going and talking to the woman, but then a man came.
"Oh, hunny," he said. "Why are you doing this to yourself?"
"Why us, James, why us?" the woman cried, "We'd be such great parents..."
"I know darling. Let's go now. You shouldn't torture yourself like that...Come..."
While leaving, the woman's eyes met Rae's for a brief moment. She looked surprised and embarrassed that someone had seen her crying and overheard the conversation between her and her husband. There was so much pain in her eyes that Rae turned her face away. The woman's words echoed in her mind. "We'd be such great parents".
Was this the sign she'd been asking for?
Rae had followed the couple to see where they lived. They seemed to be nice people.
They would take care of her son. They'd love him. Rae just had to believe it.
"They will take care of you, I promise," Rae said, trying to convince herself.
She looked at her sleeping baby. He was so different from Natalie. Every breath he took was so strong and full of life. He would make it without her.
So little...So innocent...

Rae crossed the street. If she didn't do it now, she would never find the strenght to do it. She stopped in front of the house. "I'm so sorry," she whispered to her baby. "I love you...and I will never forget you." Then she hugged him one last time and bent down to place the child on the ground. He opened his eyes. "I'm sorry," Rae whispered again, looking into the deep brown eyes of her son. He looked back at her in a way no infant should and Rae just couldn't bear it. She got up and started running. Left on the cold pavement, the baby started crying. It broke Rae's heart. She wasn't strong enough. She had to go back. It was her son there and he needed her. What was she thinking?
Maybe things would work out. Maybe one day Eric would look at the boy who clearly wasn't his and not hate him. Maybe he would forgive her. Maybe, if she'd get down on her knees...
Just then Rae heard something.
She quickly hid herself. Lights were turned on in the house and the door opened. A man came out. The man picked up the baby who then stopped crying immediately.
"Anne? Anne!" the man called. "Anne, you need to come here!"
By the time the man looked around, Rae was already gone. Far enough from the house, Rae cried. The picture of a little yellow house broke into a million pieces. Then she dried her tears and got into the car. She had to go home. Natalie was waiting for her.

Half of her heart would forever stay to Sunset Valley.
