Welcome back to Maria's story, chapter 13...
 I heard Ben's voice...
"Doctor, is she going to be OK? I can't lose her, not now...Please..." "She'll probably have to stay here for some weeks, but she will recover. Right now she just needs to rest..." said the voice I couldn't recognize.
"It must be the doctor..." I told myself...It was good to be the way I was...I didn't feel anything...It was just nice and warm...Then I fell asleep again... After some time the pain woke me up...Every part of my body hurt... At first I couldn't understand where I was, but the next moment I remembered how I had heard my husband talking to a doctor...I was in hospital...
"Maria!" It was my mother whispering my name. I got out from the bed and saw my family...Mom, dad, Ben...My brother wasn't there...
Suddenly I remembered...
Mathias!!! Violet!
"Mom, I tried to stop her, I really tried, but she pushed me down the stairs...Violet took Mathias!" I started to explain...
"It's ok, Mia" I continued, "everything went black and..."
For a moment I looked down at my feet...Something was wrong...Just a week ago I had joked about not seeing my toes because of the baby bump...Now it was gone! I looked at the worried faces of my parents and husband...
"Nooo...not my baby..." On that same moment tears started running over my cheeks...
"Maria, love, calm down please..." Ben tried to console me. "Our baby is alive...The doctors could save her...Everything's going to be ok, Maria...Doctor Stone, tell her I'm telling the truth..." "Maria, I assure you that your baby is fine...Although she's a bit weak because of being born premature, she's a beautiful healthy girl"
"So it's a girl..." I said...I knew it! I felt confused...I was so happy that my little girl was fine, but at the same time everything was so wrong...And had happened too soon...And too fast.
"I want to see her!"
"Maria, you need to rest...The doctors are taking care of her..."
"I want to see her, please, Ben! I need to see her..."
I didn't give up before they allowed me to go to see my daughter. She was so tiny...so helpless...
"Hun, we need to be strong because of her" Ben said. "It's all my fault, Ben...It's my fault that she's lying there right now..."
"No, don't blame yourself, Maria. Isabel is going to be ok."
"Isabel?"
"You wanted to name her Isabel, didn't you? You were so sure it's a girl..." "Oh Ben..."
I started crying again...My poor little baby. ... "I'm sorry but you really should return to your ward now " The nurse told me. "Is everything ok with her?" I wanted to know...
"Yes" the nurse said and walked me to the door of my ward. "Mia, please, you need to rest. Try to sleep a bit" my mom tried to convince me to relax... I hate hospitals...And I'm here because of Violet. Because of her I'm not pregnant anymore and my baby is lying there alone under this blue light, so far from me... "What about Mathias?" I asked my husband.
"The police is looking for him..."
Hearing that made the situation even worse! I thought he was safely at home with Aaron! The doctor told something to my mother and asked me to sleep and not to worry...But how could I? "I can't believe people like Violet excist" Ben said and sighed. I never thought so much could change just in one day... To be continued...
