It was late when she arrived to Vanessa's house. Vanessa, her best friend was out of town for the weekend and she needed a place to stay. Although it was midnight and she had been driving for hours, she didn't feel sleepy. She got out from her car and sighed. Things hadn't gone the way she had planned. She didn't even bother calling Vanessa... She knew her best friend wasn't going to be at home that weekend, and she also knew where the key of the house was hidden. After finding the key and unlocking the door she stepped inside and looked around in the house. There was no sign of Vanessa or anyone else...
"Perfect" she said.
Dogs were barking somewhere...
She went back outside, there was one more thing she needed to get from the car.
She was looking around and carefully opened the door of her car.
"I hope everybody is sleeping...Curious neighbours are not what I need at the moment"
"So..." she said and locked the door of one of the rooms. For some time she stood there with a thoughtful face, hands on her hips, and couldn't decide what to do next. After thinking for a while she slowly walked to the kitchen. She wasn't sleepy, but she sure was hungry. She prepared some salad for herself from the vegetables she had found from Vanessa's fridge. She didn't eat much, she never did. She didn't want to get fat. She washed the plate she had used and went to Vanessa's bedroom. She laid down on the bed and listened. Everything was silent, only some dogs were still barking somewhere. Soon after that she fell asleep. "I look awful with red hair!" she told herself the next morning, staring at the reflection on the mirror. The voice coming from the other room had woken her up, although she was doing her best to ignore it. It was a beautiful sunny day...She unlocked the front door, went outside and took the newspaper.
"So they already know..." she said with a worried face while reading the news, "Ahh, well...it doesn't really matter...I'm safe here...For now..."
Suddenly there was a knock on the door. She nervously turned on the radio and went to open the door. She wasn't expecting anyone. "Hi, I'm Armando" the man standing outside said, "Is Vanessa at home? I'm her friend."
"Not at the moment" she said with a fake smile on her face, hoping this Armando would leave...
"So I'll wait for her here! Where is she?" the man asked. "Actually Vanessa won't be back before Monday. She went to visit her parents..." she explained. "Hmm...Ok...And you are here because...?" Armando wanted to know.
"I'm emm...Rose, Vanessa's highschool friend...She asked me to look after her kitten..." the woman lied.
"Oh really? I didn't know she had a cat..."
"Well she does..." "Is someone crying?" the man suddenly asked and turned his head towards the locked door.
"No, no, it's the kitten. I can't let him out, I'm afraid he'd run away..."
"I see...You know, I can't remember Vanessa ever mentioning someone named Rose..." Armando said suspiciously.
"And I've never heard about you, Armando...Vanessa is not here so you should leave now" the woman said angrily. "Ok, ok, Rose, no need to get upset. I'm just surprised Vanessa hasn't told me anything about you or the kitten...Maybe I'll call her later and ask for the explanation..." Armando said. She couldn't let him call Vanessa!
"Oh, about that...She didn't want anyone to disturb her, she's at her grandmothers funeral you know..."
"Strange...I thought she went to visit her parents..." Armando said even more suspiciously.
"Ok, I have to go now...Please ask Vanessa to call me when she gets home" Armando finally said and left the house. He could feel that something wasn't right... After Armando had left, the woman put on her sunglasses and went outside. She needed to get some groceries, but she had to hurry to get back home fast. After 15 minutes she was back. She put the milk and the vegetables she had bought to the fridge and sighed. Deafening voice from the locked room made her worry. "The neighbours will call the police like that..." she thought, but she didn't know what to do. She took some milk from the fridge and entered the locked room. For a moment the cries stopped. The woman turned on the TV and tried to ignore the noise...She was lying on the couch for hours, staring at the tv-screen. To her luck most of the people were at work at that time. She spent her day doing nothing. In the evening it finally seemed that these cries had stopped. She turned off the stereo and listened. Silence.
"Great...Atleast I can sleep now..."
She felt good after having a shower...The wig had made her head itch...

Oops... Missed this story. I saw the title in the stories section but didn't notice this story is written by you, until reading "Me, Maria (14)" there was a sentence "Someone had reported about a woman named Rose, they believe it might be Violet". Then something in my head said "Wait a second... Rose? There was a story!!!" So I'm going back to read about Maria and I'll read this right after that...
