When Skip Met Rosemarie - The Introduction.

Hi! This is my first story here. =) This is just the intro, so it's pretty short. I hope you enjoy it! This is Skip Roper. You probably know him, but you may not recognize him. Skip, who had always been self-conscious about his chipmunk cheeks and flat nose, socked away almost every penny he'd earned since his lemonade stand days to have some minor (and very successful) plastic surgery. His looks had always made him shy... too shy to talk to girls, let alone date. But after he graduated university with the highest honors, he decided that now was the time to come out of his shell. He called a few friends to come over for a get together. Those few friends called some friends, and so on... ...until Skip's small get together turned into the craziest party Skip had ever been to! He had fun talking to his frat brothers and meeting a few new people, but more than anything he wanted to meet a girl. Not just any girl - a girl that could be his girl. His shyness was beginning to fade with his newfound self-confidence, and he wanted that night to be the first night of the rest of the New Skip Roper's life. Then, the door opened and a last minute guest arrived. Skip recognized her - Rosemarie Ng. She had been in several of his classes, and he'd always wanted to approach her. He knew she was special... she had always been his main competition for highest GPA. She was quiet and smart... and pretty. She was exactly what Skip was looking for. Skip knew then that it was a "now or never" moment, since they had both graduated and would soon be leaving campus. Skip walked up to Rosemarie and introduced himself with butterflies in his stomach and hope in his heart. And luckily, they really hit it off! They found they had so much in common - they enjoyed the same kinds of music, wanted to see the same movies but never had the time, and they also shared a love of learning and all kinds of knowledge. Skip found Rosemarie to be everything he'd thought she was... smart, charming, and beautiful. In the noisy party, they were having a hard time hearing each other so they moved to the couch. It was still quite loud, but a little better. They continued talking, and Skip found himself opening up to Rosemarie like he'd known her for years. And Rosemarie told him about her life too... the poor girl was an orphan. Both of her parents were killed by a drunk driver just a month or so before she graduated high school. Losing them had made her withdrawn and a bit antisocial. She didn't know why, but she felt comfortable telling him all of this. After some time, the party got even rowdier, so the two decided to move their conversation to Skip's bedroom. Here Rosemarie told Skip something that she hadn't told anyone... after she left school, she would have no place to go. Her parents were gone and she had no other family or close friends. She had some money put away, but not nearly enough to buy even the smallest place. So Skip, half jokingly (but half in all seriousness), told Rosemarie he had some money put away and that it would be fun if they found a place together. Rosemarie thought this was some sitcom like luck... but she dare not say no! Rosemarie said she'd love to get a place with him. She knew that it would be weird, since they had really just met a few hours ago, but she felt so connected to him already. And Skip, who had never done anything so impetuous in his entire life, was excited to finally take a chance... and to finally have a girl around him. But they agreed that their relationship would be merely that of two friends and roommates... otherwise it could become more complicated than it needed to be. They hugged to celebrate their new friendship, and the fact that they wouldn't have to venture into the world of adulthood alone. Skip loved having her in his arms... he knew that they he would love being around Rosemarie, but being 'just friends' would drive him crazy. The two agreed to meet the next day and check out some of the smaller homes listed in the real estate ads. When Rosemarie left Skip's place, she felt a nice sort or happiness that she hadn't felt since before her parents died. She walked away slowly... and for the first time in a very long time, she looked forward to coming back to someplace the next day.
