Sometimes I think that everything is a big lie. My mum thinks that I repress my feelings right now.
"No mum, I don't repress my feelings. I am fine. If you are happy with that, I am happy too".
Mum is saying:"I don't think that you are telling me the truth Mia....." She gave me this notebook to write about what I feel.Something like a diary, she told me.Ok, so dear diary, do you know how I feel? I FEEL TERRIBLE!!!

I mean, my life is already TERRIBLE. I look myshelf in the mirror and I see an ugly 15 year old girl, with TERRIBLE red curly hair and TERRIBLE glasses. I can't make up my face or wear sexy clothes cause I am still TERRIBLE!!!! So, let's say that in San Francisco where I live there are 1.000.000 single men. My mum could date with one of them. Anyone. But nooooooo. My mum choose to date with my maths teacher, mr Jianini!!!! Thank you mummy....You make my life more terrible.... The next day, I talked about my mum and mr. Jianini with my best friend Lilly. For Lilly mr Jianini is a nice guy. Yeah ok, he is a nice guy if you are named Lilly Moscovitz. Lilly is very good at maths. But if you are named Mia Thermopolis, mr. Jianini is not so nice, because I failed in maths and then I have to do EVERY DAY extra lessons after school for practise with him!!Mr Jianini is not a nice guy if your mum comes to get your marks and he ask her to a date!! I don't think that he is so nice now, isn't he? "Moscovitz, Thermopolis please, close your mouth for a while" mr Jianini told us. Yeah, he is sooo nice.
Then Lilly said that if mr Jianini be my step-father I will take an A in maths. Yeah sure.... Then we have G&T (that means gifted and talened). It's an hour for the talened students. In that class we are only 8 students. I am not gifted or talented, I put in that class because I suck in maths and here I can study. The others are very talened. Michael and Lilly are geniuses in maths, Tina writes poems, Ling Sou paints, Lana is a cheerleader, Borris plays the bass and Josh is a great athlet. Ah....Josh Richter....The hotest boy in our school and (for me) in the world. His eyes, his body, his hair, his smile, ohhhh that smile....everything is wonderful on him. I am in love with him from the first day of high school. The only bad thing on him is his taste. He is dating Lana Winberger, who is a big sucker. I hate her and she hates me, and the good news are that I don't care about it. While I was having maths lesson with mr Jianini, he told me:"Mia I hope that you don't have a problem about me dating your mother..." I didn't know what to say! "No, mr Jianini, I don't have any problem (lie, big lie!). It's only a friendly date, right? It's ok!". He told me:" Mia I don't think that it's only a friendly date. I really like your mother and I want to be with her, not only as a friend..." I had never been so angry!! "Ok, but I am warning you: If you hurt my mum, I'll kick your ass". Mr Jianini was surpised with my words and I was surpised too!!! How could I tell him that?! I was sure that he would punished me but he just said: "Ok Mia. If I hurt your mother, I will allow you to kick my ass". My mum was on a date with mr Jianini when my father called.

-Fine.
-Is your mum there? That's weird. Dad never asked about mum.
-No she is in....the gallerie. I don't know why I didn't tell him the truth.
-Ok I'll call back tomorrow. Good night honey.
Weird, very weird. Dad never calls me honey, sweety etc. Only Mia. Something bad happended, I am sure. That's why dad wanted to talk with mum. Maybe grandmere died....Who knows? The next day mum was very happy. She was singing all the time and she cooked omelettes. Mum cooked!!! That's a real mirracle!!! I guess that her date with mr Jianini was good. You can't believe what happened to school today!!! Who said that Wednesdays are the worst days because we have two hours maths?! Well me, but I'll never say it again!! Never, never , never!!! So what happened...I was sitting in the back scloolyard, because there are less students there, as usual and I was waiting for Lilly, who was in the toilet, as usual. Then I saw Josh. He was late, as usual. I was looking at him, and he saw that I was looking at him, so he looked at me too, we were looking each other for a while and then he said: " Hi, Mia!". Can you believe it? Josh Richter knows my name!!!! Maybe we are in the same class, but he had never talked to me before. Oh my God, I am so happy and upset!!! Ah Josh....We will be soon together...I am sure... Then Lilly came and I told her what happened, but she didn't believe me."Mia"she said"that's imposible. Josh would never talk to you. He only speaks to blonde chearleaders. Are you blonde? Are you a chearleader? No. So Josh Richter would never talk to you.You propably dreamt it". I didn't try to change her mind. Lilly would never believe me. Today my father phoned again. He asked for mum one more time. But this time mum was really in the gallerie. He sounded upset. So I asked:
-Dad,did grandmere die?
-What? No Mia, of course not!
What a pitty! Maybe now you are thinking that I am a bad granddaughter, but if you haven't met grandmere before, you know nothing... When I returned from school, mum was waiting for me."Mia something very bad happened"she told me. She was very upset. I thought the worst things that could happen in a moment. Mum lost her jod, Lilly was in the hospital, Josh Richter died, FatLui...."Oh my God is FatLui alright?" I asked my mum. Maybe FatLui ate a sock again. The last time that he had done that, the vet took us 1000 dollars to put it out from his throat.After that, he was walking weird for a month. FatLui I mean, not the vet.
"No Mia, FatLui is alright" mum told me and then I saw him eating. Thank God he was fine! -Then what happened? I asked.
-I want you to take it easy....
-Mum, you're scaring me...
And then mum told me what had happend. The reason that dad was phoning all the time was that he wanted to tell us that he can't have other children because of his cancer.Cancer is a scary thing.Fortunately dad's cancer had cured. But they had to cut a piece of his body to cure dad. This piece was....well it's difficult to say...one of his testicles! Mum said that he is very sad now. I can't understand why he is sad. He doen't have to do other children. He has me!! Of course, I see him only in summer and Christmas holiday, but it's enough. I mean, he is already very bussy with the govering of Genovia. It's not a joke to try to make a country work right. Maybe Genovia is only a small country, one of the smallest in the world, but it's still a country. Dad is also very bussy with his girlfriends. When I am going to Genovia, he always has a new one. They want my dad only for his money. Cause my dad is really rich. He has two towers, one in Genovia and one in France, which is grandmere's.But I didn't know that he wanted to marry and have children with one of his girlfriends. I mean that he never married my mum. Mum told me that happened because she didn't wanted to live in Genovia, because the women were lower than men and dad didn't recognise her rights as a person because she was a woman. But I think that they didn't marry because dad didn't ask her.... I told all that to mum and she told me that dad is coming tomorrow here to explain me everything. Today, I went to Plaza, where dad stays when he comes to visit me. In the beginning, the porter didn't let me go in. He said:" The entrance is not allowed to little children without their parents". That is destroying all the movie "Home Alone 2", right? But then I told him that I am the daughter of Philip Grimaldi and he let me go in. Weird, huh? Then I saw my dad. We went to his room and we started talking about me. Suddenly, when I was ready to tell him about my marks, he told me: "Mia I think that it's time to tell you the truth. I'm the prince of Genovia". I didn't tell him nothing in the begining." Really dad?" I said finally." The truth is that I am a little surpised but..."but he stopped me."The point is Mia..".Pause."When you were born, your mum decided not to tell you that because the palace is not a place to grow up a child. I agreed because I thought that I would marry soon and have another chlid to become a prince. But when I learn that I can't have children anymore, I realised that I can't do that." I didn't talk. I hadn't understand what he wanted to tell me."Mia, you are not just Mia Thermopolis anymore. You are Amelia Minionette Grimaldi Thermopolis Renaldo, the princess of Genovia." "What?!" I couldn't believe that! "What?! I can't believe that you haven't told me that!"

"I don't wanna be a princess!! I want to be just Mia!!" And I ran away from there. When I went to my house, I saw mum cleaning.
"Why did you not tell me that I am a princess?"
"Oh darling, he told you. We wanted to protect you honey. I am so sorry."
"You must be sorry!" I said and I left the house. I am going to go to the only person that can make me feel happy. So I am to Lilly's right now. Of course, I won't tell her that I am a princess, it is so ridiculus. When she saw me at the door, she understood that something's wrong, but she didn't ask. We were hanging out when... ...Michael came. Michael is Lilly's twin brother. We were keep hanging out, when Lilly ask:" Michael do you prefer Mia or Lana Winberger?". "Mia of course". I know that he was lying because he didn't want to hurt me. I hoped that Lilly won't continue, but she did. She asked him if he prefers Brintey Spears or me, Madonna or me and Avril Lavigne or me. In all I won. Then Lilly asked me if i prefer Michael or Josh Rihter. I pretented that I was thinking. Of course I prefer Josh, but I didn't want to hurt Michael. Fortunately, their parents call Michael ,but when he left Lilly asked me: "Tell me who do you prefer?"." Josh, because he is the love of my life" I said. When I returned home, mum and dad were waiting for me.
"Ahh Mia. I think that we have to talk" said dad.
"We have nothing to tell, dad. I'll never be the princess of Genovia.And now excuse me but I want to go to my room and...."
"SIT DOWN!!" dad screamed. Sometimes I am scared of dad, like now. "Philip, please, calm down"mum said.
"Mia, it's not so bad." dad said. "You can visit your friends whatever you want."
"WHAT?!".Now I was really angry."Do you mean that I will live to Genovia?!"
"Mia, I want the best from you..."
"The best? Do you know what is the best from me dad? The best is to live here with mum and continue my school and then to join Greenpeace and save the wales!!"
"You will never do that Mia. You will go to Harvard..."
"No way dad!!" "Philip, Mia stop screaming!" mum said."Mia I think that you are taking it too seriously. If you go to Genovia you will do so many intersting things. Like...you can have a car from your 16 or you can have a horse! You like horses, aren't you?" "Mum" I said and I was ready to cry "what are you doing? Do you want me to go to Genovia to throw off me? Do you want to marie mr Jianini and live together without me?"
"No my love, of course not!" said mum and she strated crying.
"Philip I think that Mia is right. She can't go to Genovia."
"Ok, ok. She will stay here."

"But" dad continued"she must take some princess lessons."
"Princess lessons?" mum and me asked.
"Mia must know a princess' life because one day she will govern Genovia."
"And who will give me these princess lessons? I don't know any school for princesses..."
"Your grandmere, of course. She is here, in San Francisco." "What the hell are you wearing?" was grandmere's first words when she saw me.
"Hi grandmere...." I said.
"Come here little girl." she said and she hugged me.
Grandmere is the worst grandmother ever! She wants me to call her grandmere, she thinks that she is 30 but she is 70 and she always make up her face! "Oh my God you are like a monster, Amelia! Your clothes, your hair, your glasses. I have a lot of work to do...." Are you wondering why I hate grandmere? "Come on tomorrow. A friend of mine will help me to "fix you up".Oh...And please wear this dress and make up your face" she said and gave me a stupid dress. Lilly: "He is SO hadsome!"
Mia: "Who?"
Lilly:"Borris of course!"
Mia: "Borris?! Borris Pelofski? The oblipuest bass player in the world?! If I hear one more time this stupid song for the king Samuel, I will kill him!!!"
Lilly: "You are so sober girl...." When everyone left from school, I went to the toilet, I changed and I make up my face. And I started running to Plaza.
"Ehhhh!! Thermopolis!!!"It was Michael.
"Hi Michael. Did you have a haircut? It's nice. Sorry I am late, I must go!!"
"Do you have a date with ''the love of your life''?"
"What?"
"I mean Josh Rihter."
Lilly told him!! I can't believe it!! I will kill her and Borris together!!!
"Sorry Michael, I must hurry!" I told him and I started running again.
"What happend Thermopolis? Did I treat on your corns?" screamed Michael to hear him. When I went to Plaza, grandmere was waiting for me.
"You are late" she told me." Ok, Amelia, this is Paolo, my hairdresser."
"Hi Amelia. So let's start work" said Paolo. After the haircut I went to Lilly. I liked my new hair and I wanted Lilly be the first person to see it.
When Lilly saw me, she looked very surpised.
"So do you like it?" I asked.
"Who destroyed you?"
"What?"
"Mia, you are like Lana Winberger with red hair!!"
"But..but I like them."
"You are transformed into a Lana! What is your next step?Will you become a cheerleader?"
Michael heard Lilly's voice-which was very loud-and he came to the room.
"What happened? Wow..." he said when he saw me but I didn't talk to him.
"You are saying that Lilly because your hair sucks!" I said.
"What did you say?"
"YOUR HAIR SUCKS!! I screamed and I left. I went to my home and I looked my shelf in the mirror. It's not so bad, I thought. I didn't want to cry. It was the first time that I had a fight with Lilly.
"Look at the princess of Genovia" I said loud and I started crying....
