A FAIRY'S TALE ... By ConnieR2003
How did I become a fairy you ask? Well, it all came about when we adopted our son Andrew. My husband Alex and I felt the overwhelming urge to adopt a child, unbeknownst to us what fate had in store. Father Fate had waved his wand and presented us with our amazing son. Andrew was my reason to search within my self and to open up doors I never knew existed. What does that have to do with becoming a fairy you ask? I'll get to that as our fairy tale unravels, so sit back and enjoy our story. Fairy felt an instant draw to her new son from the moment she set eyes on him. She thought even the case worker sensed he was special too. Fairy could see it in her eyes as the case worker handed Andrew to her. There's a special bond between mother and child, but there was something more. Instinctively she knew him.
"Call it a mother's intuition that just I knew, but I call it fate of "The fairies" that brought us together" said Fairy. Andrew just didn't seem like other children, he could see things no one else could. He could see the spirit of the fairy's above him. He stared at it seemingly mesmerized.
Fairy read him stories that afternoon that he instinctively understood.
Fairy let him play in his room for a bit, as she wondered around the house thinking about what she had felt. Fairy found herself searching deep within to find the answers. But they seem to evade her.
Fairy snapped back to reality, sensing something was amiss.
"Something tells me I need to get back to my new son", Fairy thought. Andrew had reached the magical milk, when he heard his mother coming back. He drank the milk quickly and scrambled down off the step stool and pretended nothing had happened. Fairy came back into the room and thank goodness he seemed fine. She breathed a sigh of relief. Fairy reached out her hands to Andrew, "Come here my little one".
A big smile spread across Andrews face at the site of his mother. Andrew started to stand but was a little wobbly, Fairy reached out and steadied him. Taking her hands Andrew seemed to gain strength with every step.
"How could it be, this can't be normal", she thought.
Concerned, Fairy decided to call her mother. Fairy went across the hall to call her mother and left Andrew to play in his room. Sarah, Fairy's mother, said that of course her son was normal. "Everyone walks that quickly my dear, well at least in our family" Sarah laughed. Fairy's mother knew that this was the time to tell her daughter about the family secret, "The secret of the Fairy's".
Fairy had always wondered about the "chamber", as the family called it. Now she finally knew! Now I know why I've always had sixth sense about things. To help Andrew she had to become the fairy she had heard about growing up. Bracing herself and taking one last deep breath, Fairy plunged into the "chamber". Fairy went to look the mirror in Andrew's room, to get a better look at herself. "Ohh look at those antenna's, that's hilarious", Fairy mused.
"Ok Fairy", she said to herself, "you've got to get ahold of yourself for Andrew." Before she turned around she heard a small voice say
"Mommy I'm stuck". His head was stuck in the bars of his crib!
"Oh my gosh Andrew! Sweetie what happened!" Fairy was trying not to laugh as she helped her son free his head from the bars of the crib.
"Mommy, I can walk through the bars, see?" Before he could attempt it again Fairy stopped him. "Honey lets read a story before bed".
" Ok Mommy", Andrew replied. Fairy decided to keep the winged costume a secret from her husband Alex. Fairy quickly changed and read Andrew a bedtime story. Fairy was relieved to see Andrew was getting sleepy. It had been a busy first day for both of them and Fairy was exhausted. Sometime later, Fairy went in to check on Andrew. Fairy gasped at what she didn't see ... She shouted to her husband on the balcony.
"Alex", Fairy exclaimed, "Have you seen Andrew"?
"No, honey I haven't" said Alex who was preoccupied by something he saw in sky. "I just can't find him anywhere Alex," Fairy said.
"Oh honey, he's probably hiding under his bed playing hide and seek," Alex said calmly.
"I hope your right" Fairy sighed and turned to search for Andrew.
"Alex envisioned Andrew under his bed, but I just can't help but think he's wrong" Fairy thought to herself. She dismissed her vision and continued her search.
I think I need to slip back into my wings and get a birds eye view of things." Fairy thought.
Once in her room and out of eyeshot, Fairy snapped her fingers and became "The Fairy".
After changing, Fairy past the aquarium, but something didn't feel right. Turning around to follow her instincts, she found Andrew ... IN THE AQUARIUM!
"OH ANDREW", Fairy exclaimed. Scared that Andrew would drown, Fairy frantically thought of a way to get him out. She stopped suddenly and she realized he didn't have a problem breathing under water, and was content playing in the treasure chest.
"Andrew honey, how did you get into the aquarium?", Fairy asked with a quizzical look.
"I was petting the fish Mommy", he paused and looked up at her "You can reach through the glass and pet the fish too".
Fairy had never thought of that before. It just seemed too easy. Andrew being so young wasn't hindered in his thinking as she was. It simply didn't occur to him that he couldn't touch the fish. With that in mind Fairy concentrated, and focused past the glass and reached through. She did it! "This was amazing", she giggled.
"Ok Andrew, it's time to go to sleep, no more playing with the fish tonight", she said firmly.
"Ok Mommy" Andrew said.
Fairy saw a strange look in his eyes and before she knew it, he was gone AGAIN! He had just vanished! Fairy closed her eyes and concentrated on her son. She tried to calm her racing mind ... Ohh it was coming to her ... She could see him and Andrew was toddling towards the swimming pool! Fairy quickly flew down the stairs and out the front door. Hovering, Fairy could see her son about to jump into the pool.
"Andrew, wait for Mommy!" Andrew stopped and looked up at her as if nothing was wrong. Fairy knew Andrew's powers weren't as strong as he thought, and if he didn't have the strength to swim back he'd downd. Fairies can only hold their breath for up to 10 minutes. She knew that much, but she wasn't sure about a fairy child.
Fairy lifted the tired child out of the water and carried him up to his bed. She scolded him about disappearing and Andrew promised his mother he wouldn't do it again. Fairy kissed her sweet boy goodnight and Andrew fell fast asleep. "Good morning my sweet boy" Fairy said.
Andrew smiled sleepily as she picked him up out of his crib and set him on his feet.
Fairy spent most of the day with Andrew, teaching him about the fairy tales she had learned as a child. The only difference was she didn't know they were real and Andrew was living proof they were. Finally her life made sense.
Andrew enjoyed being outside playing with the swing and chasing butterflies. There was a sense of calm over the family that afternoon. Fairy took that time to visit her special place. Fairy sat basking in the sun while she reflected on the past two days. She knew there was so much more to learn about being a fairy, but she could see her purpose in life was becoming clear. With that thought Fairy smiled to herself.
A small voice cried out to her, startling her from her thoughts. Fairy closed her eyes and tried to find him in her mind. But something seemed to be in the way.
Fairy got up and followed her intuition. "Andrewwwww" she called out but there was no answer. Fairy looked in the flowers, thinking maybe it was the brush that kept her from "seeing" Andrew. Concentrating harder, Fairy could feel Andrew! Quickly she ran through the brush sensing his direction. She ran and into the yard ... Only to find it empty! "But I feel him right here", she thought.
"Up here Mommy", Andrew laughed.
Fairy looked up in the tree in shock. Fairy tapped her foot, "Annnndddrreewww, Get down here this instant!"
Andrew closed his eyes and appeared before her, "Here I am Mommy".
Fairy held him close to her rapidly beating heart.
"Don't worry Mommy, I knew you'd find me". Andrew hugged his mother back. Andrew learned to use his telepathy to tell his mother where he was so she didn't worry. Fairy praised Andrew to reinforce his good behavior. She knew that any more tension around the house and Alex would have suspected something. Fairy wasn't sure if Alex knew what was going on. She wondered why Alex didn't seem worried about their son, perhaps he felt him too. Fairy thought better then to tell Alex for fear he wouldn't believe her. Well ... Alex Was part fairy and part elf but raised by humans. Could he have received "The Gift of the Fairy's"?
Fairy thought better then to tell Alex just yet.
Looking up Fairy remembered she was still telling a story.
"Ohh you're still here are you?
"Who me you ask"?
"Yes you .... the reader" lol.
"So you see readers, it's not always easy being a fairy."
THE END

That was a really good story, very nice. That Andrew is a handful though! lol. I don't care if he's a fairy, he would have given me many a heart attack anyway XD He's really cute and sweet though! I thought this story was going to be just like the other fairy stories, but you truly made this story your own. Good job!!!
