- 2 He was angy, she could tell. Her heart beat, her throat ached, trying to think of something to say. It had been years since she saw him, years since she moved and never saw him again. The pain and misery he had caused her was unforgivable. Too much for her to handle.
- 3 "Hi Annie," he said as he looked away. He loved her still after all those years. The way her voice comforted him, her beauty. Why he had caused her so much pain was beyond him. He gave up a great thing, and knowing that was unbearable. He sighed as he caught her eye. She looked worried. Worried that he would steal her heart and then break it. But he had changed. She would realize that. He would make sure that she did.
- 4 Alex didn't notice that Mason had said her name, not only that but a nickname; one that she hated. Anaelis sort of wished that he had heard. That he would ask, just so Mason would have to tell the embarassing story all over again. He seemed enthrawled with what Saydee was saying, something about music. Anaelis could barley listen. She was too occupied with the thought of seeing this...this, thing again. She felt like running. Where, she didn't know. Just to run and let all of her feelings and past go.
- 5 The next few weeks went by without a single word conversed between Anaelis and Mason, and frankly, Anaelis preferred it that way. But one day as Anaelis was sitting reading her favorite book Mason walked toward her. She tried to ingore him, but it was very difficult. She finally lifted her head. "Mason, what do you want. I'm trying to read here and I can't exactly do that with you breathing down my neck," Anaelis said, hoping that with this he would walk away. She really didn't feel like talking to him. He was just so...dense.
- 6 "Ah, just as feisty as you were four years ago," Mason replied as he sat on an ottoman nearby.
- 7 "Mason, don't act like you know who I am. I've changed since I was with you. I'm no longer one of those people who take it," Anaelis sneered.
- 8 "Take what Annie? I was good to you, minus one or more little mistakes. You let a good thing go Annie. I know what I did and it was no where near what you make it out to be," Mason said.
- 9 "First of all, don't call me Annie," Anaelis snapped. "And secondly, what you did was terrible. I can't beleive it. You used me. You told me you really loved me and you didn't," Anaelis spoke with sadness in her eyes. "You used me and it hurt. I thought I could trust you."
- 10 "Look Annie," Mason said as he walked over to her. "I know you were upset, but I swear to you that I didn't do it becuase I didn't love you. I did, I really did. It was really stupid, what I did, but I don't think you completely understand where I was coming from. I lived in a household when I was younger that was just like that, if not worse. My dad didn't know how to love just one woman, and I think that affected me and the way I love. I can love one person, but I was scared emotionally. You know, you were the first girl I actually fell in love with. I was really stupid, I let a good thing go," Mason begged her to understand.
- 11 "Mason, I don't doubt that you loved me, but what you did was shady and terrible. Too terrible for me to forgive. I don't see why you felt the need to cheat on me- and with her," Anaelis sneered with disgust. "And then you denied it, not once, but twice. It wasn't a one tme thing Mason. You lied a countless number of times. You're lucky our relationship even lasted as long as it did."
- 12 "I know, but I've changed. I really have. And I know that you have a good thing going with mister 'emo boy', but I can give you so much more. Just give me a chance," Mason asked hopefully.
- 13 "Hi Alex," Kylee said quietly as Alex walked into the book room.
- 14 "Hi," Alex said with a grimace. "I was just wondering if you knew anything about Anaelis and Mason," he asked.
- 15 "No, why?" Kylee asked, unsure of what Alex was talking about.
- 16 Anaelis was very stressed and decided to get a makeover. Alex kept bothering her with what was going on between she and Mason. She tried explaining to him that nothing was going on, but he knew when she was lying. Picture day was also the next day, so what would a makeover hurt, right? She hadn't gotten her hair cut in ages, so she was a little nervous. It really helped that her roommate Saydee would be the one cutting her hair. After all, she was a beauty major.
- 17 The end result was better than Anaelis had expected. Saydee didn't cut too much and she thought it looked great. She was stoked for picture day. When Mason saw her looking like this, he'd be really sorry for losing her.
- 18 The pictures of the four roomates turned out great in the yearbook. Anaelis was right when she though Mason would like her new 'do. He was gawking at her the whole time she was getting her picture taken. Anaelis could've sworn she saw Alex grimacing at him, but she'd rather not think about Alex knowing what used to be between she and Mason.
- 19 As the months went by, it got harder and harder for Anaelis to sleep. She kept thinking about Mason and Alex. And then Mason again, and then Alex. It was too much for her to handle. She found herself most nights cuddled up reading a book in her room. Then at least she didn't have to think about anything but what she was reading. Alex and Anaelis were slowly drifting apart. Most of the time Alex would rather be with his friends than with Anaelis. She was just so distant these past few months. He felt neglected and even when she was with him, she barely spoke to him.
- 20 One night as Mason was laying down for bed, Anaelis walked unexpected. He quickly hoped out of the covers. "Anaelis, what are you doing here so late?" he asked.
- 21 "We need to talk," she answered as she sat on the bed and glanced past her shoulder.
- 22 Mason was extremely confused and didn't know what to say. Wasn't he the one asking for her to get back together with him? And if she didn't want to leave Alex, then what was she doing sitting here telling him this? Was she trying to tempt him?
- 23 "Look, I don't know what I'm going to do, but what I do know is that I can;t keep hiding this from Alex. And I can't hide my feelings from you, not anymore.
- 24 "Well, Anaelis, you tell me what you want to do," Mason spoke with aggravation. "Because last time I checked, it was me who wanted to be with you. You're just a load of confusion aren't you? I tell you what, you figure out what you want, and when you do, then you can let me know."
- 25 Well, that's it for this part. Hope it was a bit longer than last time! Please comment and rate. Part 5 will be the last part and should be out soon- although I always say that and it takes like a month :P
She was at a loss for words. What could she say to this man who was standing right in front of her. She needed time to think about what to say or she might end up slapping him...or kissing him. Her feelings were like a roller coaster; bounding in and out, loops and turns.
"Hello...Mason..." she choked out the words, tears bounding her throat. She couldn't do this, not again. Not now.
"Mason, you cheated on me, and with my best friend! My mother taught me to deserve better than that," Anaelis answered.
"Mason, are you kidding?!? There's no way I would dump Alex for you. He's so much better than you'll ever be. I'm not stupid. You think I'd pick YOU over HIM??? Think again," Anaelis stated as she walked away.
"Well, you see, I overheard a little bit of a conversation between the two of them just now and I couldn't help but notice that the way they were talking led me to beleive that this isn't the first time the've met. They've barely exchanged glaces, let alone have a conversation and suddenly they're talking like they've known each other for years? I just don't get it," Alex said.
"Well, what exactly were they saying?" Kylee asked.
"Something about him being sorry for what he did. I don't understand. What could he have done in the three weeks he was here? I love Anaelis, but I haven't had enough time with her to be able to trust her completely. Especially since I know absolutely nothing about her past," said Alex.
"Maybe you should ask her about it. See if she'll tell you ehat happened," Kylee said.
Why was she thinking about that though? Mason seemed to be entering her thoughts alot lately and it was bothering her. She had a good thing with Alex and she certainly didn't want to ruin that by getting caught up with an old flame.
"I don't understand. I thought we've gone through all of this already. I've said what I needed to say," Mason replied.
"Yeah, but I haven't," sneered Anaelis. "I've been having these feelings about you ever since I saw you again. I don't like them one bit. I don't want to be attracted to you, but I can't deny it. Alex and I do have a great thing going though and I don't want to hurt his feelings. And the last thing I want to do is cheat on him. Then I'd just be one big hypocrite now wouldn't I?"
"Mason, I want you..."
