Hello everyone. Welcome to the intro of The Strangetown Chronicles. Thank you for everyone who read The Pleasantview Chronicles, I assure you - that story is not over. But I'm taking a little break from it to write about Strangetown.
I started writing the chronicles with the idea to share how I played Maxis-made neighborhoods. And as long as there will be people reading TS2 stories, I'll be writing them about all the neighborhoods. It's not a masterpiece of literature, it's not intended to be.
In this intro I will introduce you to all the pre-made Strangetown families. Or at least most of them. Just in case you never played Strangetown and don't know a thing about them. But don't just skip this part because you know it all, it will also show a little of my own gameplay.
So, lets start the story...

I started writing the chronicles with the idea to share how I played Maxis-made neighborhoods. And as long as there will be people reading TS2 stories, I'll be writing them about all the neighborhoods. It's not a masterpiece of literature, it's not intended to be.
In this intro I will introduce you to all the pre-made Strangetown families. Or at least most of them. Just in case you never played Strangetown and don't know a thing about them. But don't just skip this part because you know it all, it will also show a little of my own gameplay.
So, lets start the story... Meat the Beaker family. The blond guy is Loki Beaker and the red haired woman is his wife Circe. The guy who looks like he's being electricuted is Nervous Subject. Yes, that's his full name.
Loki is a knowledge aspiration sim, dreaming of being a Mad Scientist one day.
Circe is a fortune aspiration sim working in a medical career track.
Nervous has a more interesting story. He is a family sim. The description of the household says that he is their test subject and they are doing experiments with him. There's a cell-like dungeon room in the house where he is being kept. That's not all the interesting things about him, but lets go step by step, shall we? This maxis-made picture probably indicates that Loki was showing some evil traits even as a child.

Loki also has a younger sister Erin. She lives in the Singles household, which can be found in Strangetown's sim bin. They don't have a picture for a story, but I'll try to introduce them somehow later. In this picture you can see Circe with Pascal Curious and Loki watching.
The Curious brothers will be introduced as soon as I'm done with the Beakers. So far you need to know that there's a rivalry between these families, which started since they were teenagers. The pictures suggest that Loki was fighting with Pascal for Circe. He loved her long ago.
Circe's memories show that she was going steady with Vidcund Curious before she fell in love with Loki. And I'm not sure why it shows Pascal in these pictures, but if you trust sims wiki (because I can't check that fact at the moment) it says that Pascal has a memory of Circe rejecting his kiss. Back to the Nervous Subject. His family tree shows that his mother is Olive Specter (will be introduced later). But somehow he appears to have joined the Beakers family when he was little. The story is written that no one in town really knows that he's Olive's son. It only mentions she has some "rumored unnaimed heir". Next - the Curious family. Curious brothers, actually. Left to right: youngest - Lazlo, Vidcund, oldest - Pascal. They also have three sisters, but they are in other families. All of them are knowledge sims. If any of you are X-files fans just like I am, they sort of remind me of those 3 crazy programmers. The man on the right is their father Glarn Curious. He was abducted by aliens and had two baby girls - Lola and Chloe. Those are the two of three sisters I mentioned. In this picture you can see Glarn with his wife Kitty, who I assume is pregnant with her youngest boy Lazlo. Pascal and Vidcund (the blond boy) are playing, and for the first time you see their third sister Jenny. You'll find out more about her when I introduce the Smith family. Actually only Jenny is real sister. Chloe (on the left) and Lola (on the right) are only half-sisters, since they share the same father, but their other parent is an alien. The older boys. Pascal and Vidcund playing chess together, Lazlo playing computer games, kitty serving dinner. And Jenny, already an adult, talking on the phone. As you remember I said Circe was going steady with Vidcund, so in this picture... I guess they just had a complicated relationship. It would only be right to introduce the Smith family now. You already recongnize Jenny. She and her husband Pollination Tech#9 Smith are both family sims. They have a son Jonny, who inherited his father's alien green skin (he's a popularity sim) and a daughter Jill. Pretty much meaningless picture of hanging out in the pool, so I'll use it to tell some background.
It sais in Pollination Tech's description that he had after fruitful career he retired to his favorite planet. That's how he got here. And actually two of his career's fruits live here. It's the previously mentioned Chloe and Lola, they are his and Jenny's father's Glarn's daughters! Awkward, huh? So if you take Johny and Jill, Chloe and Lola are their aunts if you look at it the way "they are Jenny's sisters because of the same father" and they could be John's and Jill's sisters, because of the father Pollination Tech#9! A picture of Pollination Tech#9's and Jenny's wedding. Their first born son Johny. In this picture Johny is older and Jill is already born. When you enter the game Johny is a teen and is going steady with Ophelia, who will be introduced with the Specter household. The Grunt family. On the far left - General Buzz Grunt. In the workout suit - his oldest son Tank, popularity aspiration, dreams of becoming a general like his father. On the couch - Ripp, romance aspiration. But I like to see him like a romance/pleasure, like a slob you could say. And the youngest son (the blond one) - Buck. You can basically design his personality whatever you want, because there's not much told about him. It says in the description that Buzz Grunt's wife left him to raise the 3 boys alone, not much explanation. In the family tree she's shown as an adult, but greyed out as dead. This picture shows her leaving. Tank is trying to be like his father. And the description says the house is like the training camp. I guess daddy makes sure his son does his best to become a general one day. Ripp doesn't seem to care much about his future... And obviously daddy isn't happy about that kind of attitude. Doesn't look like the man is General Buzz, so I think it might be that in this picture General Buzz is a child and it shows that his father spent time training his son ever since he was a little boy. General Buzz has something against aliens. He hates Pollination Tech#9. The last one of the families with history is Specter family.
The oldy lady is Olive Specter. There are lots of graves in her back yard and most if not all of them are her dead husbands. As mentioned earlier, she's the mother of Nervous Subject. The interesting thing she has only woohoo'ed with the Grim Reaper. Meaning, Nervous has to be his son.
The girl is Ophelia Nigmos, she's Olive's niece and lives with her because her parents are dead. As you know already, she's going steady with Johny Smith. Must be one of Olive's marriages. And a honeymoon probably? Johny and Ophelia at school. Another marriage. But Olive never seemed to have a lucky one. There are many theories and unanswered questions about the Specter family. How Ophelia's parents died, why are there so many graves in Olive's yeard... I don't know anything for sure, I never inspected Strangetown as thoroughly as I did Pleasantview. I like the idea that Olive is in love with the Grim Reaper and maybe he get jealous every time she tries to get married ;) Another Strangetown mystery is you can find Bella Goth as a townie here. She's assumed to be disappeared yet alive from Pleasantview while stargazing. And there's an alien ship crashed in Strangetown. And Bella is a townie.
There are a few unmentioned families, because they don't have a big background story. I'll say a few things of them
Loner. Found in Strangetown's family bin. Contains one guy - Ajay Loner.
Singles. Found in Strangetown's family bin. Contains 4 girls (roommates): Chloe and Lola (the Curious sisters, alien girls), Erin (Loki Beaker's sister) and Kristen (not connected to anyone).
Roseland. Found in any neighborhood's family bin after installing Pets EP. Contains a guy - Cyd Roseland and his dog Porthos. I moved them into Strangetown.
Picaso. Found in any neighborhood's family bin after installing FreeTime EP. Contains a married couple - Matthew and Jessica Picasso. They seemed to fit perfectly into Strangetown. Before I start... I wasn't taking many pictures. When I played it I didn't have an intention of writing a story. And I already see the start will be a bit dull. Forgive me, I'll do my best with what I have.
I thought long and hard what to do with Beaker's and Nervous. Then I came up with the idea that they were experimenting with his DNA. Maybe they kidnapped him when he was little, knowing his the Grim Reaper's child and that's why he's so important as a test subject? I'm not a scientist, but I figured that the experiment might go very wrong... And get Circe pregnant. And the daddy is certainly not Loki.
Note: I got Circe pregnant from Nervous Subject using boolprop, so she would give birth to his child without ever woohooing him. To my surprise they had twins. A boy and a girl. Twins were natural, I'd rather had one child, but oh well... I named them Adam and Eve. Circe gave children to Nervous to look after. Now he wasn't living alone in the basement. He had his own children with him.
I hear you all accusing me of cruelty. The children had their comfortable cribs and didn't sleep on the floor. I managed to fit them in. Besides, they weren't taken away by the Social Worker, so I did take care of them, right? When you first enter Curious household Pascal is already pregnant with an alien baby and gives birth soon. It's his son Neptune. Neptune as a toddler. And when you enter the lot the game tells you that Vidcund wants to explore the sky, or something like that. He gets abducted and pregnant. That's how Jupiter, Neptune's cousin (if you take the Curious brothers) or brother (if you take the same alien parent) was born. Lazlo on the other hand... He has a real girlfriend. Meet Crystal Vu. She's a townie, but she's in love with Lazlo (or maybe even engaged? I don't remember) when you enter the game. In the Smith household it's Johny's birthday the day you come. The game suggested a party and I let it happen. You can take a look at Chloe (the red haired alien by the door) and Lola (the black haired alien girl). Ophelia grew up soon too. I didn't send them to college. Johnys moved in with Ophelia in Olive's house. They fell in love once more... Olive died the same day Ophelia grew up to an adult. The couple had the house completely for themselves. I did, however, send Tank Grunt to college. His little brother Buck grew up to a teenager very soon. I chose family aspiration for him. Tank met someone very special at college. Her name was Trina Chen. She was a guitar player, dreaming to become a Rock God. Back in Strangetown it was the happiest day of Johny's and Ophelia's lives. Ophelia didn't have any relatives alive, so Johny's family was the only guests. The family only included his parents and little sister Jill, though. They didn't want to have a big party. They were together, that was all that mattered. The party wasn't big and noisy, it was cozy and quiet. It turned out perfect, just the way they both wanted. But they won't be the two only ones in the house for long. Ophelia found out she's pregnant. You know it says in Jenny's bio that she really loves green? I couldn't resist buying a green cat for her. Soon after Johny's wedding his little sister grew up to a teenager. I gave her a knowledge aspiration. The very same day Jenny grew up to an elder.
In case you've played Strangetown you know Pollination Tech#9 dies very soon. But I sort of cheated... boolprop'ed the genie lamp and gave him "a way to cheat death" because I wanted to fulfill his LTW of having 6 grandchildren. And he even lived more than I expected. In all my previous sim attempts this only worked one time, the other day they died. Well Pollination Tech#9 surely wanted to see his grandchildren, for a moment I thought he'd live forever. The guy in the picture is previously mentioned Ajay Loner. You can notice he's with Lola. They're both fortune sims so... ...I thought they'd make a great couple. Now I'll introduce you to the Strangetown's college, which is La Fiesta Tech.
This is Frances J. Worthington II, kind of a similarity to the Landgraab in Pleasantview. A rich guy who's in love with his money. He was seeing Jessie Pilferson first. (I'll introduce her later) And things were going quite well until he discovered she's a romance sim when she broke down after accepting his engagement proposal. As if that wasn't enough, she was cheating on him with a college proffessor. That was her way of getting better grades... Frances got mad at her when he caught her cheating, so they broke up. It broke his heart. How can a guy know when a girl is not just after his money? Things changed when he joined the secret society and met Lilly GlisCarbo. She was simple, caring and kind family sim. And of course, very pretty. He didn't spoil her with presents and she never asked him to. Eventually they fell in love. Lilly spent a lot of time at the house he was renting. Until he asked her to move in. Lilly was younger than Frances. He graduated and moved to Strangetown, leaving the house for her until time comes for her graduation. Introducing the fraternity. On the left - Matthew Hart, on the right - Guy Wrightley, on the bottom - Mickey Dosser. I wanted to play this whole thing through as fast as possible, so I have no pictures really. Only graduations.
Well, not exactly all graduations... Mickey is a romance sim and a true slacker. He was kicked out of college. Guy Wrightley on the other hand was a good student. His family founded the fraternity a long time ago, so he did his best to keep the image good. But as a popularity sim, he also managed to find time to host the best parties. Matthew Hart, a quiet family sim, not much to tell. Now the girls. On the left (in the pool) - Jessie Pilferson, Frances J.'s ex-girlfriend. On the left - DJ Verse, on the top - Sarah Love, on the bottom - Monica Bratford. Monica Bratford graduated first. She's a fortune sim, mad about games and dreaming to become a game designer one day. She moved in with Mickey. Why? She cares of her public image so much and she agreed to live with a guy who was kicked out of college? Might this be love? Not really. He is just as mad about games as she is. What a better way to get the newest hottest game cheap than to have a game designer at home? And Monica... Well, maybe he was the only guy who ever showed her attention and she fell for it. Next - Jessie Pilferson. The proffessor she was dating guaranteed her grades good enough for her to make it through college. DJ Verse, a popularity sim. I made her Guy Wrightley's girlfriend. She played at all Guy's parties, maybe that's one of the reasons they were the best? Despite her passion for music, she dreams of becoming a journalist one day. And last - Sarah Love. She's Matthew Hart's girlfriend, by the game. They're both family sims. A separate household of musicians. Makes me smile now when I look at it, I assigned instruments differently than in this picture, but never cared about it. Left tu right: Gunnar Roque, Jasmine Rai, Zoe Zimmerman.
In my game Gunnar played drums, Jasmine - bass, Zoe - guitar. Gunnar graduated first. His new clothing. Gunnar is a romance sim and only likes music as much as it gives him screaming female fans. Jasmine Rai. A popularity sim. The founder and the soul of the band. Zoe Zimmerman. A popularity sim. Enjoyed music while in college, but now off to become a serious journalist. Of course, lets not forget Tank Grunt, who graduated too. And his girlfriend Trina Chen. Tank moved back home to live with his father and brothers. But he didn't come back alone, he brought Trina home with him. He found another romance blooming at home. Buck and Jill were seeing together for a while now. But Buck seriously had to find new clothing if he meant to keep his girlfriend. And I'll leave you with Bella Goth, the greatest mystery of The Sims 2. The introduction is over. I hope you liked it. So when i first started reading you could imagine my intrigueness as to what else you were going to put. I read each and every picture/with description. And it really explained strangetown for me.

    I liked this one the best of the towns/stories... probably because I pulled the Singles, Smiths, Curious and Spectors into my Veronaville - they are some of my favorite Sims.  I have them in my Shopping Town - Aslan's Grove.  But also because I didn't even look at their old photos!!!  Holy cow.  Now I can't wait to get off duty and go home to look in my sims memories/photos.
