This is Part I of 'Just A Boy'. Thankyou to everyone who read and/or commented the introduction & for your lovely feedback, I love reading comments xD. I hope that you enjoy this part as well... "So, how was your week with Bride Bridie?" Patrick called to Ben from the gym toilet.
"Mate, for one, you're in the toilet, secondly, don't call her that because she is most definetely not my bride..."
"-Yet", added Patrick.
Ben, choosing to ignore this jest continued drearily, "...and I don't think we really need to have this conversation, again." "Hurry up...we need to buff you up a bit Paddy." Ben joked. "That's a bit rich considering the state of your hair at the moment, Elvis." Patrick retorted. Ben's attempt to change the subject proved to no avail as Patrick began again, a long conversation ensuing, roughly involving a debate regarding 'just kiss her' and 'I can't'. "So...you're telling me that you're not even going to tell her, let alone show her, how you feel...ever all because you live together?", Patrick asked,
"You know that's not the only reason...are you even going to try and see this as if you were standing in my shoes?" Ben replied exasperated. Patrick got up and marched over to his best mate. Ben didn't look up, aware of the lecture which he assumed was to follow. "C'mon Ben! What happened to you?! You were a player in high-school, man! Three 'serious' girlfriends in three months, how you got them to believe you were 'that' guy, I will never know!" "Exactly...I wasn't 'that' guy." Ben said honestly, a look of dissappointment flashing across his face. "But you are now, Ben. You are that guy...you are her guy." Patrick jumped in. "..No, look..", he continued, answering to the look on his friend's face and interuppting once more. "I'm not going to let you spend another year or yet another month with this...", he struggled to find the right word, "...heartache. If you take a chance, you could have everything you've wanted since you were seventeen, you've loved her, Ben, loved her since you were seventeen. If you don't, she'll be gone Ben..." "It's your life mate, and I hate seeing you so damn unhappy...", Patrick concluded after an ackward silence, searching Ben's face for any sign of agreement, trying to figure what happened to his best mate's head to get him seeing this crazy way." Ben muttered OK and goodbye as Patrick had better be getting to work. "Oh...and Paddy?", Ben said. "Yesss?", Patrick said, swinging around to answer. "Still don't tell Ella, please..."
"Man, she's my wife! I can't keep secrets from my wife!"
"Mmm, she's your wife, and the love of my life's best friend. Go figure...you can't tell Ella.'
Patrick left with a 'yeah, sure but do something' and Ben got back on the bench-press. He sighed heavily and muttered disgruntedly to himself. "I can't, I just can't...'

************* "So - how was Ben today?" Ella asked her husband. "Is he still moping?"
"Yeah, yeah. Still sad...", Patrick managed in between mouthfuls.
"Find out why?"
Patrick swallowed and looked down at his bowl before anwering. "No - no clue...when are you seeing Bridie next?"
"Tomorrow, she's all distant too these days."
"Mmm?"
"Perhaps they're not enjoying living together?", Ella lied, she knew exactly why Bridie was a little vague. This is Ella & Patrick's home. Thankyou for reading:) I know that they are short but I think the next one will be longer and better, hopefully:] I just wanted to give a bit more insight into Ben's situation and I don't want to rush.
