My Mom, Candice Lowell and me, Jennifer. After my Daddy left Mom thought a new start would be a wonderful idea. So, we moved to Summersville and bought a small house. Mom was proud of our house, she bought it with her own money. She felt potty training should be first on our list of things to do. After all, she had to work and wouldn't have time to change my diapers constantly. I thought walking sounded fun! Think how many wonderful things I could reach now! Catch me now Mommy! For some reason, Mom insisted I call her Ma Ma. Why do I need to talk? I say the best sounding words ever! She made me practice until I got it right. Ugh! I want to play. NOW! Mommy met our neighbor Sterling. He is a nice man. Ok, now I'm not sure I like that so much. Back away from my Mommy! She invited him for my birthday party. She said I am gonna be a big girl today. I already am. I want to make that clear. I use the potty, I walk and I say Ma Ma. What more does she want? I don't know if I want to blow out those candles. What will happen? Sterling is blowing on a loud party thingy. He needs to shut up. I don't want him around my Mommy. Oh my gosh! I am bigger! I like my new height. Cool. I wonder what I can get now? Yuck! This is my room. Mom said I needed a big girl room now. No more crib for me. YUCK! Do they have to do that out in public!? That is so gross! I think I am going to toss my cookies. Mom took me shopping today. She said a new wardrobe would make us good as new. Sometimes she cries. I think she misses my Dad. I found this dress. I don't know if I like it. I think I'll choose something else. Mom says stay away from this crazy old lady! Mrs. Crumplebottom apparently likes to hit people with her purse. Is she knitting? She is a weirdo. Alright! I'm going. School. I think I would rather stay home and play. Oh man! Sterling is back. I need to have a chat with Mom. I don't think he is good for her. All he talks about is money. Get a room! I don't want to see that! Well, I guess Mom heard me. They locked the door stayed in there a long time. I wonder what they were up to? Oh Sterling, I love you so much.
Did I really just do this? Was I crazy? What was I thinking? I don't know why.... but I feel wonderful today. Jennifer is off to school and Sterling went home. A little quiet time to myself. Maybe life is finally getting better. I was recently elected Mayor. It's off to work. Another day at the office. This is my helicopter. I'm not sure I like attracting so much attention to myself. I think I am ready for a new career. Oh no........ move it! I'm gonna blow! Great. I probably got something from someone at work. I hope Jennifer doesn't get it. I talked to my friend, Orlando. He said I should try and get rid of Sterling. Then we started talking about other things. Orlando! You are such a liar! There is no such thing as aliens. Everyone knows that! Giant robots? What are you talking about? Why are you worried about being my best friend. I have a few of them! A magic potion? To make me like you? Are you crazy? I am your friend already you dork! I've had enough. I'm hanging up now. I'll see you in school tomorrow. Freak. Oh! Hi Jacob! How are doing? Yeah, I didn't feel like going to school either. They have those tiny little desks. I wonder if they get any bigger as we get older. The desks barely hold my books now. Gotta go! Bye! I hate doing homework. Mom made me get off the phone and do homework. At least Sterling hasn't been around. It has been weeks since he last called! Why doesn't he call? Sterling! Oh Sterling. I miss you so. Oh no! This can't be happening! Should I bother to call Sterling? Would he even care? What do I do? Someone, anyone, please help me. I am so alone. Things were difficult enough with just Jennifer and I. I am going to need a bigger house. How am I supposed to pay for that? Even adding a room costs a fortune. So very alone. Mom.... is that you? Oh my gosh! Mom is crying! What should I do? I had no idea she loved Sterling that much. Oh Mommy. How can I help? Sterling? Hey! How are you doing? I haven't heard from you in a long time. Is that all you care about? Money? I have some really wonderful news! Are you ready? We're going to have a baby! Isn't that great? What? What did you say? I don't think I heard you. I'm sure I must be mistaken. You don't want this baby? What's wrong with you? I thought you loved me. I'm going to hang up now Sterling. I don't want to talk to you anymore. You're not the man I thought you were. Why?! Why me? What did I do to deserve this? My life just keeps getting more miserable. What else can happen? Ok, Candice. Get a grip. You don't want Jennifer to see you this way. I am just going to have to do this on my own. Me, Jennifer, and our new baby. Hi Jacob! I'm so happy to see you! Do you want to play? Has Orlando been bugging you about being his best friend? He is so irritating!
Yeah! I know. Dad says he is insecure or something stupid like that. I think he is just being a pest, like my sisters! Oh yeah! Go! Go! Go! I love sports!
Oh brother. Give me a break. That is my nanny Karen Gast. She came even though Mom didn't go to work today. I don't want to go to an eye doctor! Why? I can see! I think Candice would make a great Mom. I wonder why Dad doesn't want to see her again. Sigh. Grown-ups are really stupid sometimes. I'm glad Jennifer doesn't know he's my Dad. She would probably hate me. Candice too. Sterling! Why are you calling me? Are you trying to hurt me?! I DON'T want to talk to you! I am having this baby! You can't stop me Sterling. Leave me alone! Please....... Don't call me again. You're breaking my heart. Why doesn't he want our baby? Why? I just can't understand. I want to know WHY? How can anyone not want their baby? How could I have been so wrong? So wrong. Ok, I need to get myself together. I can't let Jennifer see me this way. Ok, I am calm. Peaceful thoughts Candice. You can do this. I started over once and I can continue to keep my life on track. All I need is a little love. I have plenty from and for Jennifer, and now my new baby. I can do it. I can. Jennifer is the light in my life. She will help me and I will help her. The new baby will be fine. We can do it as a family. Who needs a man? It's been weeks again since Sterling's last phone call. I wonder if he will ever change his mind. Lord help me, I still love him. I never even met his children. I wonder if they look like him? I am feeling better about things. Just because he is being a jerk doesn't mean my life is over. Sterling is bound to see things in a better light eventually. Mom seems better today! Yes! The happy dance!
Hey, is Mom getting fat? The baby is growing. I will have to tell Jennifer about the baby. She thinks I'm getting fat. As if. Jennifer....... there's something I need to tell you and it can't wait any longer. I am NOT getting fat. When Sterling and I were still in love, we made a baby. It will be here anytime now. A BABY! Wow! That is so cool Mom! Maybe I will have a little sister to play with.... or a little brother to annoy all the time! I love you Mom.
I love you Jennifer. More than I ever thought possible. Is there room in your heart for a baby?
Of course Mom. No problem. Yippee! A baby! I recently purchased my own business. I am going to try being my own boss. Hopefully, my hours will be flexible enough for both my children. I opened a kids store called Totally Tickled Tots. I have a had a few customers and am already at rank 2. I'm on my way! Oooooh! Something doesn't feel right! I wonder......... OH YEAH! That hurts! I'm in labor! Shoot Jennifer is asleep. I'm on my own. This really sucks. Oh my gosh! I remember what this is like. It's been a long time. Welcome little one. I want to introduce you to Tiffany. I can't wait for you to meet Jennifer. She's your big sister! She will be a teenager soon. Thank goodness she'll be able to help me.
