Madison in the city...Part 2. I'd like to thank everyone who commented on the part 1, I'm glad you liked it. I love reading your comments, so be sure to keep them coming. Madison was lying in bed thinking about her new life in Downtown Bluewater. It had been just a few days since she moved in, and things were going well. Although her place appeared to be a dump to most, she loved it. At least she didn't have to worry about getting it messy with her paints. She also had this new job now, which was great, she just needed to stop daydreaming about her new boss.

She had spent the last few days finishing up the unpacking. She had painted a bit and lounged around mostly. She had decided to change her hair, something she did quite often actually, as she had grown tired of the red.
She couldn't stop thinking about everything, The days that had just passed and what was to come. She found herself a good book, and hoped it would help her relax enough to get some sleep. The next morning, as she ate her meager breakfast, she made it a point to take a walk around town and get to know her new town. She also tried to avoid looking at her kitchen while she was in it, which of course was no easy task.

"I can't wait to get some money, first thing I do is fix up this kitchen!" she said to herself.
After breakfast she headed out. Let's see what Downtown Bluewater has to offer! Once she got home, Madison saw that she had mail! She peaked into the mailbox hopefully.

Unfortunetly, all she had recieved was some bills. Madison had been hoping for a letter from home, but she had yet to get one.
Later on in the afternoon, she went up to the balcony to paint. She had been right about putting an easel up here, it was one of her favorite places to paint.

For some reason her towel, which was hanging to dry, had inspired her.
Madison tried to capture it's flow as it moved in the wind. For some reason, it just wasn't coming out right.

"I'm too distracted today." she thought to herself.
Malcom awoke that same day, thinking about his business. In fact, that's what he thought about most of the time. He rarely did much else.

Malcom had spent the last ten years of his life building up Harrison Design. Work was his number one focus.
Most of the time, he spent what little free time he gave himself alone.

He'd play music, which he'd always loved.
Or read.

On rare occasion, he went out with friends, but he prefered to be alone. Very few understood how a man as charming and good looking as Malcom, was such a loner.
As Malcom made plans for his day, he decided that today would be a good one to have Madison come over to his office and see where he was based at.

Madison had made a pretty big impression on him the other day. He had high hopes that they would work well together. He couldn't stop thinking about it actually.

But it didn't occur to him that there was any other reason, than that he could see them having a good business relationship, and she would be a great assest to his company.

" I guess I'll give her a call, and have her come over later today." he said to himself as he picked up the phone. He'd already memorized her number.
"Hello?" "Oh, hi Malcom!" she hoped that the stupid grin forming on her face couldn't be sensed through the phone.

"Madison, I was hoping you'd be able to stop by my office today. I'd like to show you around and talk to you." he said.

"Oh sure, I can be there later today, no poblem." she said anxiously.

"Ok, I'll see you then. Good-bye." he replied.

"Bye, Malcom."

Madison could hardly contain her excitment. She'd be seeing Malcom again today!
Madison walked over to Malcom's office later that evening. "Thank you for coming out to see the place today Madison" Malcom said to her.

"Oh I'm happy to, I'm eager to get started actually." she replied.

"That's great, actually that's something I wanted to talk to you about" he said. " I've got a new client, and I think you can definitely contribute something to this job."

"Great!" Madison replied cheerfully.

"Let's talk about it while I show you around." he said as he got up.
"Want some coffee?" he asked.

"No, I'm good thanks." Madison was nervous enough already.

How am I going to work with this man everyday, if being around him makes me so nervous? She wondered to herself.
"Well there's not much to the place." he said as he showed her around. "This is where we have most of our plans and files. You saw the reception area downstairs, of course. "

"It's nice." she said shyly.

Oh yeah, I'm eloquent. She thought to herself.
"I want you to come by tomorrow morning. I'll introduce you to Kendra, she's my assistant, and to be honest this place would fall apart without her. Just don't tell her I said that." he said with a smile. " I'm sure you two will get along well. Kendra is easy to like."

" Ok, looking forward to it." she replied.
Early the next morning, Madison headed over to Malcom's office. He was outside with someone when she got there.

Kendra was Malcom's assistant....
She was also dating Will Davidson... Will Davidson was Malcom's old college roomate, and one of his best friends. Which for Malcom, who only had two people in his life he considered true friends, was saying alot. "Good morning, Madison. I'd like to introduce you to Kendra. Kendra, this is Madison, she'll be working with us on several jobs."

Kendra looked her over, as if trying to determine with just look of her, if she'd like her or not.

"Hello, Kendra, nice to meet you." she said with a smile.
"Good to meet you, Madison!" she replied suddenly, a big smile on her face. They went up to Malcom's office, and started discussing the upcoming job. Malcom explained that they'd be working on the interior design of one of the homes Malcom had designed as an architect a few years ago. The home had been purchased by some rather wealthy people who insisted that Malcom be the one to decorate it. Later on that day, Madison had a chance to spend some more time getting to know Kendra. The more they talked, the more Madison liked her. She had an honest, sometimes brutally, way about how she spoke to you, and Madison respected that. "So Madison, tell me, how long have you had a thing for our Malcom?" she asked with a smile.

"Wha?" Madison was shocked. " I...I. err, I mean, I don't have a thing for Malcom. I mean, I have alot of respect for the man, and I really admire him. That's all, really."

"It's ok girl, everyone falls for Malcom. Just as long as you get it into your head quickly that it'll never happen." Kendra replied.

"Why?" She asked curiously. " I mean, just curious, you know. Why wouldn't it?"
"Oh don't get me wrong, hun. Your a beautiful girl, and you certainly seem intelligent and charming enough, he'd be lucky to have you!" she replied reassuringly. "Malcom's just damaged goods. I just want to be sure you don't waste your time, hun, that's all."

Madison nodded.

She was now more curious then ever.
Later that evening, Malcom and Kendra were working out some details about the plans for the next job.

"Ok, I think that's it." he said as headed up to his office. " Now I just need to meet with the clients."

"Just as long as I don't have to go." Kendra had met their new clients once before, and she hadn't liked them one bit. Alisha Maxwell was nothing more than a stuck up socialite and her brother Ash, although charming, didn't seem much better.

"Dont' worry Kendra, you won't need to be there tomorrow." he said with a laugh. "I'm actually thinking of taking Madison with me, I'd like to get her opinion on a few things. I think having Madison with us is going to be very good, she has a great eye, and a lot of talent."

"Hmm, you seem fond of her Mal." Kendra eyed him curiously.

"I think she's talented, and talent is good for business." he replied sternly.

"Of course, why would I think anything else." she said sarcasticly. This man is hopeless, she thought. A shame too.
A bit later, Will arrived. "Hello sweetness, ready to go home?" he asked as he grabbed her for a hug. "Mmm, almost." kendra said warmly.

He pulled her in for a kiss. " Miss me?"

"Always." she said before his lips closed over hers.
"I'll be ready in a bit, why don't you go upstairs and talk to that friend of yours." she said as she walked away from him.

"Why, what did he do now?" he chuckled.

"Oh, the usual. Beautiful girl, completely head over heels for him, and he hasn't a clue. I swear the man is dense. All he sees is work."

Will sighed. "And you know why Kendra."

"It's been 10 years, Will. He needs to get out of his fog and get on with life. He's going to end up old and alone. He's your best friend, you dont' want that do you?" she asked.

"No, I don't. But I've tried, baby. There's just no getting through to him." he replied with frustration.

"Well keep trying." she said.
"Hey man, what's up?"

"Will, good to see you. Catch any criminal master minds today?

"Eh, 5 or 6. So, I hear there's a woman in the office. Is she hot?

"Didn't you ask Kendra that?" Malcom asked jokingly.

"Oh yeah, first thing. Come on, tell me." he asked.

"I don't know, I haven't really paid attention."

"Oh come on man, that's BS, you're not dead."

"Look, I don't mix business with pleasure, you know that"

"Yeah, easy enough when you just have no pleasure, Mal."
"What do you want me to say Will?" he asked with frustration. " You want me to tell you she's beautiful, ok, she's beautiful. I know a lot of beautiful women. Now tell Kendra to stop worrying. There's nothing wrong with me, just because I don't fall for every woman with sparkling emarlad eyes that walks into my life."

"Heh, that obvious eh?" Will chuckled." Hey man, she worries about you, so do I. And if I don't try, she won't stop bugging me about it. Consider the subject dropped."
"Good."

Malcom was happy to move on to something else. He knew Will thought of him as a brother, and just wanted to see him happy, but he just prefered not to have the same argument with him every few months. He didn't see any problems with the way he lived his life.

"So, uh, sparkling emerald green eyes, eh?"

"Ugh" Malcom grumbled.
"So tell me, what did he say?" Kendra had nearly toppled him over as he got off the elevator.

"Same ole, same ole, baby."

"Ugh, that man!"

"He did say something about some sparkling emerald eyes." Will said off-handedly.

"He said WHAT?"
That's the end of part 2. I leave you with this preview image from the next part. Again, thanks for reading, and please feel free to comment with your opinions, they are appreciated.

Next week you'll meet Harrison Designs new clients, the Maxwell twins. What part will they play in this story?
