There was once a legend...
A legend that survived on the thin threads of time...
It waited to be heard, to be told-
To live.
It is said that the worlds began through the creation of three generous godesses. Din, with her strong and mighty arms, forged the rock and stone that would support new life. Nyrue, blessing the airs and waters with her wisdom, gave the land order and law by which all creatures would abide. Farore, full of spirit and courage, grew from her sturdy roots all life that would abide by the law. The three creators then forged their very different powers into one piece of sacred gem, the Triforce. The Triforce would contain and uphold each gift, and was consequently very fragile to each extreme by itself. Wars soon began amoung the people of the world, and many lives were lost to the lust for power. When the lands finally settled into an exhausted peace, the heros of their battles faded to legends, and in time, were completely erased from the concerns of restless lives. It is years and generations past these troubling memories. A new crisis, much quieter in its wrath, has fallen upon the shoulders of a brave young princess. It was out of grave concern for her weakened father that Zelda, Princess of Hyrule, set out to gather the far corners of the world to decide upon its inevitable fate. Her father's illness was brutal and vicious, striking completely unexpectedly in the waking hours of a past morning. Familiar faces lined the table in the Great Hall. Saria, from Kakori Forrest, was the youngest of the members present. She was a lifelong childhood friend of Zelda's crucial messenger in the success of this new commitee. From the fiery mountains, Darunia represented the stern and mighty Goron Tribe. The intense heats and need for brute force evolved the tribe into red-hot, rock-hard warriors. The leader of each century was decided by the length of his horns, which were otherwise less than the length of a pinky. The dazzling and determined Princess Ruto represented the Zoras, a water tribe that gaurded the water supply of Hyrule. Though the Zoras were more scale than Hylian, Ruto's Hylian mother passed down an interesting combination of the two elements. The quiet and noble sheika, Impa, was the only known survivor of a race that protected the royalty of Hyrule for centuries. She was Zelda's personal gaurd and primary motherly figure in the princess' life. Lastly from the far, merciless sands of the Gerudo Desert, Ganondorf sat apathetically at the end of the group. The secluded tribe was dominated by women, but allowed the birth of a male every hundred years to continue their tribe. Ganon was a new and shady knight in the King's army, but Zelda held a weary eye on his every move. The assembly lasted late into the night, and the moods weren't increasing with the passing time. Hostile feelings between tribes sparked where crucial unity was needed, dragging the affair out. Link, Zelda's unnamed executer to her plans, tried helplessly to get a word in with the bickering and gradually panicking leaders. Ruto felt the most threatened by the loss of a key King in their world. Her people had close ties to the Royal family's current rule, but the relationship between Hylians and Zoras were commonly much more agressive. Darunia was concerned for the safety of his tribe's freedom to eat the vital and nutritious rocks from Goron Mountain, which the current King had generously bestowed full ownership of. "Why so many neggative attitudes?" Ganon suddenly inquired, chiding at an already testy situation. He took a deep breath and leaned lazily on his palm.
"There is no need for such panic. New leaders must be chosen as time passes."
"You know well, Desert Prince, the instability of this world. Wounds are still freshly bleeding their aftermath from the war amoungst the people of all tribes. A trusted and secure leader as The King cannot be replaced by just any rule," Darunia sternly pointed out. Ganon offered more to his sudden solution, "Why not select one of the knights in The King's closest circle? Surely the people can trust an honorable replacement such as he?" "Let the King decide who shall succede his throne," he stated as-a-matter-of-factly. Zelda spoke from her seat. "You are pushing very bold assumptions that you would be included in the contenders for the crown." Ganon sighed. "Do not mistake me, dear princess, I mean only the well-being of Hyrule." Darunia snorted loudly. "How could Hyrule ever trust a Rogue Prince of Theives to be the healthy solution to their well-being?" Saria quickly said, "Why not let Princess Zelda rule in her father's place? She is as strong and wise as any Prince or Knight, and she is blood-tied to the Royal Family's name." Gannon grinned, swallowing an indignant chuckle. Darunia caught the quite poorly disguised gesture. "You are one to be so quick to judge, Desert Prince. Do not forget that it is the women who rule your people." "The women serve under my humble rule these days. They voted me into a position of supreme leadership for the safety of our tribe." Zelda narrowed her eyes. "It is completely unlike the Gerudo to ever put a man above them in hiarchy, Ganondorf. Your web is getting sticky with contradicting details, take heed in any more sudden declarations." Saria looked to Zelda again, Impa joining her proposition. "It would be the wisest choice, if a choice must be made, Princess." Impa gently stated. Ganon remained silent through the rest of the meeting, but a look of determined mischeif swarmed in his golden eyes. The next evening, Zelda paced one of the rooms in the Knight's Chambers nervously. Ganon had requested an audience. His dark voice chilled her spine as he spoke suddenly. "Princess, I am glad you came." He perched an iron-clad boot atop one of the chairs. "Though, I am surprised that Impa did not join you," he curiously baited. "Impa is a gaurd for my protection, Ganon. This is a simple meeting in the Knight's Chambers, should I be worried for my safety in such secure cooridors?" Ganon smiled, though not a decent happy thought was playing through his mind. "Of course, Princess, you are right." "So why have you requested this meeting, Ganon? There is much that needs to be done and I have little time for your head games." Ganon smirked. "I assure you, Princess, this is no game tonight." "I have an offer for your crisis, one that I strongly advise you consider." his words crept a twinge of fear in Zelda's frame, though she said nothing. "You see, Princess, there is something about us that is very unique-very special." Zelda didn't like the unusual tone of this. "We both share something, you see, that no one else in this world posesses. Combined, these unique gifts would grant Hyrule a power not seen since the dawn of time." "What are you getting at, Ganon. You're toying with my patience," Zelda cooly said, trying to mask her growing uncertainty. "A union of elements, Zelda. I am offering you a safe future, one that will bring prosperity like none before to your people." His blatent disregard for her title further heightened Zelda's suspicions. "A union, you say? What kind of union is this, and what do you propose binds the two forces?" Zelda continued playing down the situation as best she could, fearing that any sudden movements on her part would trigger the predator's attack. "Marriage, Princess, marriage. The ultimate bond between a pair, the strongest thread amoung a web of thinning chaos." He turned Zelda's earlier quote on itself. "There is little protecting your very vunerable kingdom, Princess. It would be very unwise to make enemies with the greater force, I can only imagine the slaughter such a power could reign." "The combination of our joint assests could create a kingdom unlike any other. If you refuse, I fear the worst for you and your people. I wish no harm on either, I merely want to bring out the greatest potential within."
Zelda shivered, beginning to lose the ability to shake off the dangers of her position.
She was no fool. If Ganon were to have such untouchable powers, he would destory everything. The power would consume and madden him to such extremes that even The Godesses couldn't repair them. "You have bitten your sharp tongue for some time now, Princess. It is most unlike you, I must say." Ganon taunted her.
Zelda needed to flee, she needed somewhere to hide that would allow enough time to distract Ganon's crazed quest for power, and give her the time needed to formulate a plan.
She was faced with two options, and both made her lightheaded when considering the degree of destruction that could result from either. Ganon finally approached her, repeating his earlier words. "Zelda, you need me. Your people need me. There is no alternative that will result peacefully for you." "The Rogue Prince of Theives and the Princess of the Golden Kingdom. The combination would break boundries and open vast possibilities." Zelda turned away. She didn't want to give him the satisfaction of the effectiveness in his words. "You have forgotten, Desert Prince, your boundries in my kingdom. You insult my superiority with each word, and I will no longer resist condemming you. I do not need your presence in the Council of Sages any longer. The rightful leader of your people will immediately take your place. Now leave."
She closed her eyes, displaying the illusion of belief in her own words.
"And you forget, Princess of Hyrule, who has the upper-hand tonight." "You've splendidly tried to show me strength in not bringing your Sheika Knight along, as I knew you would." He stepped closer, but Zelda stood her ground firmly. "The other knights are away for their usual evening posts." Zelda gripped his arm, anger filling her eyes. Ganon jerked her chin to the right, tilting her head enough to let her see the full wickedness in his own eyes. She pulled on his arm, but with little success.
"And of course, most importantly-Your Highness-your King is dying. The greatest weapon you have is fading away in some glamorous golden tomb, taking with him the pathetic era of his rule."
He gripped her throat suddenly, cutting off a scream she tried to release.
"I will not be defied, Zelda. You cannot deny the destiny that binds our fates-our very lives!" he hissed.
He released Zelda suddenly, letting her wobble on oxygen deprived legs. Ganon leaned into her once more.
"We are the Sacred Realm. We are the Golden Power. There can be no victory without eachother."
She pushed him back and spun around, storming weakly as far as she could manage for the time being. Zelda needed a plan. Then, a sudden spark ignited in her unbreakable will, and she began to understand what needed to be done. She concealed a small ball of light, using her arched back as a sheild to Ganon's glare.
"Impa-it's time."
Her words, verbally muted by magic, flew in a flurry of golden sparks to the only escape she had.
The confusion and hastiness of the final moments in Zelda's dangerously close encounter with Ganon blurred through Impa's threats to Ganon, his silent sneers, and Impa tossing a Deku Nut to blind their escape. Link walked up next to the sullen looking princess. Her face no longer revealed her fear-she was Princess Zelda again. They stood silently for a few moments, listening to the erie calm that surrounded them. Zelda spoke:
"This land has seen the darkest of evils. It has endured the wrath of power-hungry men and lived on in silence, obedient to the destruction."
"I will not do the same, Link."
Zelda faced him.
"There is much that has happened these past nights, and I apoligize, but there is no time for explainations."
"I'm leaving, Link. If I stay in Ganon's reach a moment longer, there will be unspeakable perils for my kingdom. I cannot have that. I will allow his blind determination to build over the surface of Hyrule for a few years. He will be distracted by my absence, and wont expect the gradual undoings of his havoc." The ground shook suddenly with a massive wave of cold energy. Zelda quickly looked over her shoulder and called to Impa. "We must leave now Princess! We cannot tempt our chances any longer." Impa yelled. The clouds broke as if the wave had cracked them. Rain began to pour in freezing needles.
"Now, Princess. Now," Impa repeated, her voice soft but firm.
Impa cast a spell upon the torches, snuffing the light that could endanger their location. They began running off when Zelda came to a stop. "I need you to find and gather the Sages again, Link. I sent them all back to the safety of their tribes the night we dispatched our meeting."
Link listened intently.
"They will likely be faced with great troubles as Ganon's reign unfolds. You may need to assist in repairing any corruptions within the Temples that gaurd the Sages' Powers. Ganon will surely attack those first."
She paused for a moment, then called Navi over. "Navi, I have a great task for you. Please forewarn the Sages while Link finds a haven to retreat to temporarily. I cannot risk his capture, so I need you to do this alone and with great haste." Navi glimpsed over her shoulder sadly and quietly bid farewell to the Princess, and in a flash, dissapeared. The sound of hoofprints and clanking swords signaled everyone's departure. "We're counting on you, Link." "You are our only hope." In a the flash of a Deku Nut, the two women were gone. Link stood alone and uncertain beneath the storm, not knowing the path to take, or how to get there in the first place. By the time Link arrived at Lon Lon Ranch, he was worn completely as the sun beat against his back. It had been a long time since he walked through the gates, a long time. Malon stood comfortably by the fence. She looked so different, Link thought. Her apparent changes intensified his awkward uncertainty. He shook his head and darted over to the fence, trying to figure out how to word everything he needed to say. Ingo leaned against the wooden fence, spotting a strange boy in green running towards Malon. Malon shifted her weight a little, though her expression remained the same. When he reached her, Link was blank of explainations. Malon raised her brow. They stared at eachother for what felt like forever to Link, not a word passing between them. Malon noticed the worry and concern in Link's face, and knew whatever was burdening him was too great for casual conversation. A dark cloud seemed to follow Link's trail, blanketing the sky in gray. Malon offered a comforting gesture and smiled. "Well! You look horrible. We need to get those robes cleaned up as soon as possibile!"
Link smiled back, appreciating the irrelevant comment.
Malon lowered her voice a little.
"I know there is something grave weighing you down, Boy In Green. You seem on the verge of collapsing. Please rest up here for a few days and get your strength back. Whatever troubles you face will require much of it."
Ingo disliked the secrecy taking place. He was very protective of Malon ever since he took over for his father, Ingo Sr., five years ago. Malon returned to her masquerade.
"How do you like what we've done with the place? We're going to open an archery game soon!"
They smiled at eachother for a while, allowing a genuinely happy moment sneak its way into an otherwise dark circumstance. Ingo finally began walking towards the bizzare interaction, ready to glare down the newcomer. Link spotted the large man and swallowed hard. Ingo? The Ingo Link remembered was pale and lanky, and wouldn't be caught dead outside without his decorated clothing. Malon intercepted the attack.
"Ingo! This is Link!" she said in a merry voice.
When she was out of Link's earshot, her tone lowered. Link could tell there was some sort of argument taking place from the agressive whispers and body motions. Malon waved a finger at the jealous man.
"This is no time for your obsessive attitude!" she said sternly.
"It's just Link! What could be threatening about that?" she baited his ego. Link was confused. Should he be offended? When the bickering finally calmed enough to let Link get to the Guest Room, the heavy emotions crushing him released.
He was supposed to save the world, and he'd never even left Hyrule.
He began this tiring journey seven years ago by the request of the guiding Deku Tree.
Link was just a Boy In Green.
He was no hero...
He sank to the floor, barely noticing the strange protests under his body. Navi errupted from beneath him in a swarm of irritated sparkles.
Link didn't notice that either. He was too grateful for the familiar friend.
He held the fairy out, letting her see the relief spreading across his face. She gave into the innocent greeting and fluttered her wings happily. They relaxed quietly atop an outlook, taking in the doomed peacefullnes around them. Navi flew around impatiently.
"I can't stand the thought of just waiting around for years while Ganon destroys Hyrule!" she groaned.
A voice interrupted her rant.
"It can be saved, you know,"
A masked figure stood in the shadows. Link tried to put together how he didn't hear the person coming up behind them, and Navi became defensive. She began blurting out weird threats about Link being a mighty hero that could cut anyone to peices and this and that.
Neither person seemed to care. Link stood, once again prepared to do what needed to be done. He wouldn't mope around in hiding.
The stranger repeated their only quote.
"It can be saved, Link,"
" And you can save it." ***
Many apologies for the delay, but hopefully you enjoyed it!
This is for fun, passionate fans please don't attack me with the minor details I altered ^.^
Many many thanks to panda_bear for her Writing Better Stories tutorial, she saved my hide with the screenshots I edited and getting them back into the game.
If enough of you would like me to continue this series, I'd be more than happy to, but please understand that the graphic editing consumes a great deal of time, so any sequal may take awhile to produce itself.
Thanks for reading, comments appreciated!

\:D Wonderful job. Besides the Sims games I'm a huge fan of the Zelda series as well and have played and beaten everyone of them. I think you did an awesome job capturing the feeling of the Zelda series! Great use of CC for the outfits and general stuff. Does anyone else think Link and Ganon are sexy in this story when compared to the games? I like your characters looks much better than the games characters looks! WONDERFUL WORK WITH NAVI, I was like OMG with the editing details (Navi, Rain, Clouds in the sky, etc). You could not do this story without them in my opinion (like Navi for example). I also loved the close up of Navi, which you never get in the games to my knowledge, awesome. I still find the character Navi in the games much more irritating than yours, LOL. Please keep it that way, LOL. Can't wait to see then different temples, I love the Zoras. No rush on the next story, well worth the wait. Looking forward to the next chapter. Luv Bubbles\:wub\:

Wow! You have done a spectactular job! I really enjoyed this and am looking forward to the next installment. It's quite alright that you've altered original story details a bit, that always has to be done when you take a story out of it's original medium and recreate it in another - like when they make a movie from a book. Wow, this is truly amazing; you're setting a whole new standard for sims stories! The attention to details and just imagening the amout of time and care you must have put into this makes me want to give you a number much higher than 5... I personally have no knowledge of the Zelda games, other than seeing the characters in pictures, but I can safely say that this story reaches out to me as well. I'm just... stunned! The opening sequence was absolutely brilliant \:wub\: The way you write is so poetic and in keeping with the style of the pictures. I really do wish you would make a continuation of this, looking at the sheer quality of this story I understand it might take some time, but I don't care if I have to wait for three whole years or more... \:D Great, great, great piece of work!

Ahh I must point out (should have done so sooner) the custom content is completely created by other artists. Though I've tried, I don't create any content for the game, I just tweak it and do what I can \:\) The hair comes from rosesims2.net, modthesims2.com, rojeanasims, (sp?), xm sims, and a few other sites that currently evade my memory. The clothing is from a site that I regret not knowing the name of at the moment, because it has amazing creations for vintage looks. I found the link somewhere at MTS2, and I'll be sure to give further info. Link's outfit is from MTS2, The Dark Project, which is a massive collection of great medieval clothing (many of the dresses were also from here). I also used Sussi sims dresses, a collection from Insimenator (sp aain \:\( ) that's from a project based on buffer male bodies, oodles of other items from MTS2, which will hopefully be uploaded with some future houses, where I will include much more specific details, and I'll get back to you all asap on specific names, because the creators of the objects deserve many thanks and much appreciation!!! (I highly recommend them all).
Anyhoo! Thank you all again for such kind comments \:D\:D\:D\:wub\: \:wub\: \:wub\:

(I am a huge Zelda fan and have beaten every game over the years!) This is awesome work and you obviously put a lot into creating this story! Well done!!!!!!~Victoria

Alright, well I want to thank ALL of you VERY very very much for your comments. They truly, truly do make every bit of time and ounce of obstical worth it \:D\:D\:D
I'm trying to get back to as many of you as possible with personal guestbook replies, though it's taking some time :S sorry!
I want to quickly give a small spoiler detail about the series.
Rather than sticking to only two times that Link travels back and fowarth from, I'm using three. Here are the current ages (from this story)

    Zelda: 19
    Ganondorf: 26
Link: 16 -------(don't freak out if you're older and thought he was cute! lol this is just a number so that the future wont raise his age too high!)
    Navi:.....???lol
Mysterious Person: ...that's a mystery lol
    Ruto: 18
    Darunia: 125
Saria: **forever, as some of you know** 11 (because the Kokiri(I mispelt it in the story, sorry)... don't age)
    Impa: unknown
    Nabooru (not yet shown): 23
    Rauru: (not yet shown): 52
Kaepora Gaebora : (not yet shown): unknown(but very old)
    Malon: 18
    Ingo Jr.: 21
Ingo Sr.: (not yet shown) : 45
    Talon: (not yet shown): 47
Skull Kid: (not yet shown-yes this is from a different game, sorry!): unknown, though young by appearance

annnnddd I have one character that isn't from the series, but I needed a way to somehow interlace all the games effectively enough to maintain some accuracy-

The Sage of the Master Sword, Queen Belda: reincarnated multiple times, current vessel is unknown but roughly 18 years of age.

WHEW, confusing enough? lol ahhh man. Sorry! \:D \:wub\: \:wub\:

Absolutely stunning! Not to mention, I'm a fan of The Legend of Zelda. This is beautiful, the scenic backgrounds, the characters, everything! Excellent work with Navi, it wouldn't be a legend without her. LoL. I'm in love with link! Gosh, I can't even think of anymore things to say but wonderful! I so love you for creating this! And if you don't mind, I'm gonna take the pics, and make a movie/slideshow and put it on my iPod (that's how much I love it). Kudos for you!

\:D I'm so friggen glad you guys liked it-or at least didn't hate it lol \;\) This is an unofficial rough idea of when you can expect to see the next "chapter", so please don't strangle me if things end up a little past it,
April 30 is what I'm aiming for, and I know that sounds too far away, and I agree -.- because all the ideas are in my head I just can't spit out the simmies and scenes quick enough! I think the fans of the series will notice how I begin to integrate much more creative and altered information, not only from other games but by jumbling up the characters a little bit, which you may have alraedy noticed I've done.
^.^ just don't tell Nintendo lol
Ohhh and if you haven't beaten one of the games or haven't played them yet, there will be lotsa spoilers \:\( so the breaks in between stories would be a good time to jump on Epona and kick butt!
