This is Alvin D'Lottery. Alvin's multi millionaire father Ivan cut him off from his inheritance and threw him out with just the clothes on his back. He lived in two brick sheds on a piece of land by a lake. Alvin's only skill was painting, luckily he's quite good at it so he got by painting his surroundings and selling his work on ebay.

He dreamt of having his own gallery but at the moment he could barely afford to eat!
After shifting a few "masterpieces" he made enough to build a few more walls but not enough to buy enough carpet or wallpaper. He needed a proper job... Alvin scoured the ads but there wasn't much work for someone with no qualifications who's lead a sheltered life. He spotted an ad for a Record Store Clerk - "that'll do for now" he said - "I'll go in and see them tomorrow before I go grocery shopping." "I really hope I get that job! I need to get this place fixed up plus everything keeps breaking and bathroom leaks... " Alvin got the job at the record store and sang for the passers by on his days off. With that and the money he earned from his paintings he has enough money to make the sheds into a home.

Then he started to think about what to do about his father...
Alvin was thrown out of the family home after a row with his father about company business.

Ivan was involved in some dodgy deals with the military and when Alvin confronted him about it he threw him out. Alvin needed proof of what his father was up to so he enlisted the help of Kitty Litter. Kitty promised to see what she could find and report back in a couple of weeks.
in the meantime Alvin did some research of his own - he still needed to eat and the record store job wasn't very well paid. He got the phone book and started contacting art galleries about his paintings, he'd built up a small following on ebay and was hoping that news of his work had reached the art world. Eventually Alvin managed to persuade a local gallery to exhibit some of his paintings. It was a roaring success... in fact his paintings sold so fast the public began to fight over the last remaining works! He made so much money from the Exhibition he bought himself a flat screen TV. He was watching the arts channel and a cookery show came on. "Who is this vision of loveliness?" he asked himself. He sat mesmerised until the credits came up at the end of the show. "Anne Chovie.... celebrity chef....wow, she's gorgeous." He went straight to his canvas and painted her lovely face.... The painting wasn't enough to lift his spirits for long... he was soon thinking about his father. "Daddy why did you throw me out!!! I only wanted an explanation!!! Now I think you're into something a lot worse... I have to find out what's going on!" He made a call - "Kitty, I can't wait any longer - what have you managed to find out". Silence at the end of the line.... "Kitty?"

"I can't talk Alvin, I'll come round to your house tomorrow" and with that she hung up.
The next evening Kitty came round but she wasn't very forthcoming. "What's Dad doing with the money from the Government contracts Kitty? - they're not showing in the accounts"

"As far as I can tell everything is above board" she said, but she didn't sound convincing. Alvin wasn't happy - maybe Kitty was in on it too? - but she can't be, Alvin and Kitty had been friends since childhood and she sounded so shocked when Alvin first approached her... it must be something else. He did a search on the Internet, emailed a couple of contacts but he couldn't find anything out. He couldn't understand it. Alvin went to a local bar to forget his troubles. The barmaid listened to him drone on about Anne Chovie for half an hour "Sheeez so luvvvverly.... hic!" He was just telling her how he used to have his own private jet when.... in walked the lady herself. Alvin rushed over to the corner where he could get a better look at her - "Oh sheez soooo much prettier in (hic) real life..." he said - "If I only hadn't had so much to drink - I can't introduce myself stinking of booze". She was soon surrounded by fans so Alvin crept out of the bar and got a taxi home. By now Alvin had made enough money from his paintings to open his own gallery - it was so busy, he didn't have time to think about Anne or his dad. He was getting quite a name in the art world and a few famous people started to take an interest in his work. One day a famous chef came into the gallery. Anne fell in love with Alvin's work - she was straight onto the phone to her agent. "You have to fix up a meeting with this artist..." she said. "His work is amazing...I have to meet him". And then she saw it.... The painting Alvin had done after seeing her on the TV for the first time. She looked in the catalogue, it said "not for sale". "I have to meet this man" she said.

A week or so later Alvin revieved a call. "Hi Mr D'Lottery?, can I call you Alvin? This is Shirley Van der Gest from the Sonny Day Show. Alvin honey, Mr Day REALLY wants you as a guest on his show, we'll send a limo for you on Thurday night around 6 - OK? Bye sweetie." and she hung up.

That was wierd, Alvin thought, she didn't let me get a word in edgeways. Well I've got an exhibition to push so I may as well.

Sure enough, Thursday evening came and the limo turned up as promised. He got in and off he went to the TV studio. "I can't understand why they've sent such a big limo. It's not like I'm Picasso or anything just some local artist..." He was baffled, little did he know he had been invited by a very special guest... ... Hello this is the Sonny Day Show! And I'm your host Sonny Day!! Tonights guests are rising local star the artist Alvin D'Lottery, Culinary genius and celebrity chef Anne Chovie, and all the way from Sim City, the Blue Llamas!

[applause]
Alvin couldn't believe his ears, she was here! He was going to get to meet her! He tried to compose himself as Sonny asked him about his art.... "I understand you paint mostly landscapes?" "Yes" replied Alvin "Although there is one portrait in my gallery, it's of your next guest in fact!"
"I know, in fact that's partly why your here, she saw it in your gallery and wanted to meet you, in fact she refused to appear on the show unless you were a guest as well! To be honest we were going to ask you anyway but we thought it would make a good show to have the two of you together." "So Anne, what did you think when you saw your portrait in Alvin's gallery?"

"Well Sonny, I could see it had been painted with love and passion and I just had to meet the artist! And here he is!!"
The rest of the interview was a blur, Alvin's heart was beating so fast he could hardly hear the questions. He didn't even hear the Blue Llamas play. After the show Sonny invited them both to dinner, the studio had it's own four star restaurant. Anne had changed from her work clothes to a stunning red dress, she took his breath away. Alvin and Anne hit it off immediately, they had so much to talk about, she was an orphan, and had been raised by her Uncle who had encouraged her to cook. He talked about his father and how they didn't talk anymore, how he'd started with nothing and gained his independence. "I suppose in some ways I should be grateful" he said "if it wasn't for the row with my family I wouldn't have followed my dream... ...and I wouldn't have met you..." Anne blushed, she stretched her hand across the table.. "Do you believe in love at first sight?" she asked? "I do!" he replied. "Well look at you two!" said Sonny, "I never expected to have two guests fall in love on my show, here's to you both" Sonny said goodbye, but Anne and Alvin chatted into the early hours. "I really must go, I've a location shoot in the morning."

"I've had a great time Anne, do you think....do you think......"
She kissed him before he could finish the sentence, "Walk me to my car?" she said. They exchanged phone numbers and Alvin said goodbye. Alvin's father had seen the show, he was surprised and proud of his son, he'd always thought he was a bit of a waster which is why he'd hatched a plan with Kitty to make him stand on his own two feet. He had been starting to regret it, he hadn't realised how successful Alvin's painting career had become.. Also he was lonely, Alvin's mother had passed away when he was a child and Ivan only had the maid and the gardner for company. And chess wasn't the same when there was only one of you. "I can't stand it any longer" he said, taking it out on the garden gnome. I've got to put an end to this charade! He arranged to meet Kitty at the park. "How is my son?" he asked. "He's doing just fine, Ivan, he doesn't understand why you kicked him out though and he's beginning to think you're into something really dodgy - I can't keep fobbing him off" "You're going to have to sort this mess out soon Ivan" Ivan was distraught, he didn't know what to do. He wanted to reconcile with Alvin but he was scared. What if Alvin was angry and didn't want anything to do with him anymore. "Pull yourself together man...you're a billionaire businessman, if you can't think of anything, no one can." A few days later Ivan went round to Alvin's house. Alvin and Anne had been out in Alvins new Hunka 711. Seeing them together gave Ivan an idea. As soon as he got home he was straight on the phone "Kitty, I need your help one last time." Through a friend of a friend Kitty managed to get Anne on a girls night out at the Lucky Shack Cards and Drink. Before they left Kitty got Anne on her own. "I hear you're seeing Alvin D'Lottery" she said. "Do you know about him and his father?" "Yes" said Anne, "It makes him very sad."

"How would you like to help me get them back together?"
Kitty told Anne how Ivan had created the whole Government contract thing as a scheme to get Alvin to take some responsibility for his life and that he now realised what a stupid idea it had been and wanted to make amends. "So do you know what to do? And don't forget keep it a secret!" said Kitty.

Great story! I love how Alvin D'lottery is an artist and works his way through the art world to earn dough. It's so cool how you brought in Annie Chovie from the other TSR Challenge. Excellent story development too! I look forward to the second part.

    Ivan D'Lottery. Clever, lol!

Almost as weirdly punny as Miles Prower. (Took me a long time to figure that one out. I think it was everyone calling him Tails that threw me off)

Why on a cliffhanger?! I hate it when people do that, but the suspense keeps me hanging on. It's a good romantic story, painter seeing a world famous chef. Excellent.
