Here I am, at last! I've arrived at Sim State Uni! The first Curious to do so, so far.
Let me introduce myself... My name is Pascal Curious. I'm the eldest of three brothers. When our parents died, we were put into the care of the Strangetown Orphanage... That's my home town by the way.... Where we grew up with a couple of other waifs and strays.
It was a big step to come here, but I'm glad to be making it!

It was a big step to come here, but I'm glad to be making it! I decided to rent my own place, the noise of a dorm wasn't for me. I was here to study first and foremost, not to have wild parties and get drunk!...
I was leaving that to my younger brother Lazlo...
Once I'd put my posters up and made the place feel a bit more mine, I registered for Biology. I want to be Chief of Staff one day, so I need a really good grounding in that branch of science. It was during my first week here that I met Heather, she walked past almost every day and looked a very friendly girl. I stopped her one day, and we got talking. She could tell I'd only arrived here...
I think the lack of more fashionable clothes was the give away!
She offered to show me around and tell me where everything was, from the local stores to the Student Union. Thanks to Heather, I gained a more up-to-date wardrobe and some confidence. The students were a very easy-going bunch, it wasn't unknown for one to drop by during the day for a chat, coffee and to engage in group research. I prefered the latter, no matter what, I always made sure my papers were in on time and that all assignments were complete ahead of class! I became part of Heathers social circle for a while, I admitt, I had a small crush on the girl and really enjoyed being with her. I knew she wanted to take it the next level, but I refused to slow down on my studies. There was time for romance later in life, I had a goal to hit!
She didn't see it that way, and after a while she stopped calling round as much. Towards the end of my first year, I invited my two brothers; Vidcund and Lazlo over, along with Mel and Athena who were also at the Orphanage. I ordered pizza in that night and it felt like I was back home once more. Lazlo, ever the joker, started playing with the fridge. I didn't have the heart to tell him, I'd only just got it working. Oh well, if he breaks it, I guess I can fix it again... I was surprisd when Mel and Vid started making out in my front room, guess something never change! Laz told me, that Alex had come to terms with their relationship, and as long as they didn't do anything stupid, he was fine with it.
I just wish they'd taken it outside, I was trying to eat. I forget who started the pillow-fight, but it was great fun... I know I'm going to be picking feathers out of the sofa and flooring for ages to come, but it reminded me of what I'd left behind and the fun that we all had together.
It was a good night, one I was sorry to see end. Heather came to see me during my second year, I was surprised about that, she hadn't come near me since I refused to go out with her. It seemed, she had a favour to ask and had no one else to turn to. The Housing Association had found damp in the Greek House she lived in, and they were going to treat it. This meant that they would have no place to hold there weekly meetings for sometime... Would I mind if they came round and used my flat?
I had visions of large numbers of girls everywhere, but relucantly agreed to it. I was relieved when Heather turned up one night with only two other girls. Seems the house's popularity hadn't kicked off yet, it was still early in the year. The nights they held their meetings, I would go to the gym. Being an intern was going to be a demanding job and I had to start building up my stamina.
I was sure that the running machine I was using each time, was trying to kill me.. No matter how slow or better I got, it always managed to trip me at some point.
Is it possible to have a vampiric machine? The showers at the gym left a lot to be desired, I'm rather a shy type so I was glad that few others seemed to be there at the same time I was. It meant I could shower in peace. After working out one night, I was completing some work in peace, before returning home to clean up after Heathers lot, when I saw my brother, Vidcund walk in!
I was shocked to say the least.
Had that much time gone by and now he was at Collage too?What about the others?
I called him over and we started talking. He'd recently arrived, along with his teenage girlfriend Melody... I gather they were still good friends, but that was it so far... and a few other teens from Strangetown...One Loki Beaker, John Smith and Circe Salamis!
The name Beaker made me cringe! I truely dislike that man, I hope our paths never cross! Before I left that night, I noticed my machine claim another victim, so my theory could be right! Bidding goodnight to Vid, I left him starting to argue with another first year.
Some things never change.... On my way home that night, I dumped into another student who shared Vid's dorm. Her name was Nicole, and I didn't realise then, what an impact she was going to have on my life to come! Over the next months, we started emailing each other. She wanted to be a chef when she got out of Uni, she told me one night. I could see she had talent in that direction, as she had invited me over for a meal a few times. With practise, she would only get better! It was during my third year Jorden, a friend from my biology class, had stopped for lunch and she started hinting about a hidden club on Campus. I didn't believe her for a moment, as I'd walked every path and street in the area and never come across anything that remotely looked "Secret".
"Look for the Llamas" Was all she said before she left....

What Llama's? I found out later that week. Dropping in to the Social club, I noticed for the first time a girl wearing a black jacket with a Llama on the pocket. Why hadn't I noticed before?
Was this the Llama I was looking for?
It didn't take long to get her talking, but although she hinted at much, she said little regarding the club, just that I should keep looking... Once you knew what to look for, they were everywhere! Nicole was never far from my thoughts, I'd never felt this way about anyone. Now I know what Melody and Vidcund feel for each other... I wonder if they'll still just friends or has love struck them again? One day I gathered my courage and invited Nicole over for dinner, I wasn't really certain just what was going to happen. Were we just friends or was there the chance we could be more?
Or was it just pure dellusion on my part? When I went out to greet her, I was just overcome with my feelings... I guess that was the main problem, never having dealt with this whilst a teenager, it was hitting me hard. I couldn't stop myself, I just kissed her.
I was both surprised and overjoyed to find out Nicole felt the same way about myself. The meal went well, and we spent hours just talking about ourselves. By the time we looked at the clock, it was late, and we both had classes the next day.
What a wonderfull night...... I didn't hear the car pull up, I was sorting out the flat before going to bed. There's one thing I cannot stand, its mess. If I knew what was waiting outside, I might have been tempted to run... A man got out, dressed in the black Llama jacket.
What was his intentions at my home? I was about to undress for bed, when I realised I was no longer alone!
Behind stood a very thuggish looking male, who started to dance like a chicken! I explained to him, that his strange ritual held no meaning for me, and could he please leave as I wished to retire for the night. He looked rather depressed at this, but that was no reason for his reaction! Twisting me round, he started to handcuff me! I'm not a violent man.... That is the resort of the brute, but I was upset with this turn of events, and couldn't help but wonder what was going to happen to me? He led me outside to the waiting car, and thankfully made sure I didn't injure myself getting inside. The driver ignored me, there gaze rested only on the road ahead and who knew what lay in that direction? I was taken to a building I'd never seen before....
It was the Secret Society that had been hinted at so much during the year.
They all came out to greet me and welcomed me into their select group! It seems they had been watching me as much as I was searching for them, and they had agreed I was perfect for the club. Having been issued with my uniform, so to speak, I had to pose for a Joining picture. I'm glad they had that plant enclosed, I knew it was a very dangerous thing which had no quarms about seducing or killing anyone it met.
It still makes me shudder to think about it out there in the open.... The time flew by and I reached my final year. I redecorated my flat, bought some new clothes and came to a decision. Having spent the last of my Collage fund, I phoned Nicole up and invited her over. Everytime I saw her, she drove me wild with desire. She was my perfect woman, intelligent, beautiful and fun to be with. After we'd eaten and cleaned up, it was time for the biggest chance of my life! "Nicole, I love you! You make my heart sing in ways it never has before... Will you agree to be my wife?" I held my breath as she took the ring and tried it on. It was the best I could afford with what funds I had left, but she seemed enchanted with it all the same. As she agreed to be my wife, I was the happiest man alive!
Now, I just had to finish my studies and graduate, then we could get married. Nothing could stop me from reaching the finishing post. I was surprised one morning, when I realised I had just finished my last Term paper. All those I had writen over these four years, this one was both the most rewarding and also the saddest. It meant I would be returning to the Real World soon, and all that that entailed.... It seemed to be the time for "lasts" that month.
Where had the time gone?
It didn't seem like four years since I first moved into this house and started the long haul of education. Now as I sat, having completed my final assignment, I couldn't help but recall what had happened over the years.
It had been amazing! I was up early the day of my finals... I couldn't sleep the night before though nerves, and once the time said I could go, I dashed to the exam hall as fast as I could.
Others wanted to know where the fire was! But I ignored them, they were content to remain here, having fun and drinking beer... I had new plans now, ones that focused on when I left...
When I left......
I never thought I'd think those words with such joy... I PASSED!!!
What more would you expect from a Curious! It's in our genes and nature, and hopefully something I will pass on to my children. I know, not even married yet and talking of children!
It was time for me to relax just this once, I called everyone I knew for a party! There where many shocked replies....
"This is YOU, isn't it Pascal?... "
But they came anyway..... The pool table I'd hired for the event, went down a treat and it was good to see my brothers and friend Nervous again. I hadn't been in touch with him as often as I should have, but he understood my commitment to study. Nicole took the time, to catch up on her assignment. She was trying to gain early leave so we could be together, but it didn't matter. I was prepared to wait for her if she wanted to stay the course.
Vid had grown his hair, which surprised me. It suited him and he blushed when I said that, he's not use to me talking like that.
It just felt so good to be in the company of people who either were my friends or cared. But all good things must come to an end, and with the party over it was time to change, pack and await the taxi to take me back to Strangetown. Lazlo and Vidcund waved me off.... I never did have the chance to ask Lazlo where he got that strange skin-condition from. But I'm sure I'd learn more about it in the future. The Future....
How quickly if had arrived.... Four years ago, I was a fresh faced youth, barely out of my teens coming here for the first time. Now I was leaving, a man ready to face what life threw at him with a passion!
I had the love of a woman to add to all I'd learnt, and the future looked good to me.
I cannot wait!

I would encourage you to continue to write and develop your writing skills. Anytime that you are working on writing be sure to plot out the storyline first, and any plots points that you wish to hit along the way - this will not only make the story flow more naturally for the reader, but it will also cut out unnecessary "chatter" in the story.
