Hi... My name is Andrew and I'm caretaker for the Strangetowm Orphanage. Well, it's not an orphanage as such, I look after 4 teenagers and a baby. The teens parents died recently and the baby was abandoned. It's my job to look after them until they head off to Collage. Which let me tell you... Can't come too soon for some of them!
Three of them are related, brothers in fact, not that you'd think that from looking at them or living with them. Each is totaly different from the other!
This is the oldest, Pascal Curious... Got to admitt, that is one weird name, but it sort of suits the bunch of them. When I asked him what he wanted out of life, once he got his head out of the book he was reading, he told me he was going to be Chief of Staff at the general hospital... Good luck on that one kid! This one's Vidcund.. I'm sure his parents must've been playing Scrabble when he was born... What kind of name is that to lumber a kid with?... See what I mean about being different? He's as blonde as they come! He's got this really weird idea about raising puppies or kittens... Not in this house, mate and if you want to open a pet shop then do it after Collage! And Lazlo here... Another Scrabble name? Is more like me, always playing, trying to prank the others.. Just out for a laugh... Oh and any skirt he can catch in the process! Good lad!... Er, I didn't say that... I've got to keep an eye on this bunch. Laz wants to pull the ladies, at least 20 of them he tells me... All at the same time! He'd better work on those moves! This here is Melody Robinson, her aunt refused to look after her anymore after she'd spent all the lass's money. The court case is going to take ages, and so she's come here. She dreams of getting married and growing old with her partner... Guess someone has too?.... She's the only other girl here apart from... Poor little Athena, who someone didn't want! What a start for a baby? Here's Pascal - Doesn't he look better with a hair cut? Just can't get him to wear contacts though, he'll never pull any girls looking like a geek! - Feeding the mite. She loves the attension, and they all adore looking after her. Heck if I don't get my bed first, I find this kid's sleeping there so he can look after her when she wakes up! You'd think he was her father, the way he's acting! First night in the place - it use to be an observatory by the way, they left loads of equipement behind - And Vidcund decides to go look at the stars. Well, he got more than he bargained for, cos those freaky alien dudes that fly around came and grabbed him. Took him clean off the roof! All I could think of was... "What am I going to tell the Boss?" It wasn't going to look good, I can tell you. Few hours on the job and I loose one of my charges! I shouldn't have worried too much, he must have said something to upset them, they brought him back four hours later and dumped him outside on the road. He weren't too happy about it at the time, but we were all glad to see his safe return... Me, more than the others, at least I don't have to kiss my pay-cheque goodbye now! I was asleep when this happened, otherwise I'd have said something. Young loves great and all, but not under my roof. Melody was studing, she thought learning how to cook would stand her well for catching a husband... I really got to have a talk with that girl... She wants to do something with her life, not just want to have babies.
Then Vidcund sat down to watch the TV, I think it's the first time she really noticed what he looked like. And I don't think she's upset with what she's seeing! Trouble was.... Neither was he. I was a little unnerved about the amount of bare flesh Mel was showing, so I sent the kids off to buy some new gear. I was impressed with what they brought back. I don't think much of the top, but those pants are a great improvement! Vid just looked cool in black, shows off his hair well, he said. He's set himself up as a teacher, plans to teach Mel how to play chess, I think he spent the first hour telling her the different between the horses and castles. Lazlo decided to go funky! Love those pants he's wearing, but they don't do them in my size, shame that.... As normal, he's chatting up the ladies, but I don't think this one is too impressed.
I asked him why he's not after girls his own age?
"Because I want them queuing up for the Laz, when I hit that Collage scene".... he makes a good point there... See what I mean? The first of many. I shouldn't have called Pas "Harry Potter", it was the glasses and hair cut when I first saw him. Guess he's taken it to heart. Still, it does sort of suit him... I told you these two were going to be trouble. Bad enough that they're sharing the same bedroom, now he just walks in while she's busy! I'm really going to have to have a talk with these two.... And quick! But before I got the chance, Vidcund started with the flirting. I'm blaming him, Pascal told me he started it, and she was just too willing to not respond! I don't know... These Family types, all they think about is settling down. Just hope my Bosses don't find out about this little crush. Pascal, straight home from school - They all go to a private one, it's all part of the benefit package for these orphans - Can't wait to pick Athena put and bathe her and feed her. She's growing quick and it won't be long before she reaches her birthday... What are we going to do with this little mite crawling everywhere ? I'd better get a supply of clean clothes and some learning toys for her! At least someone has a normal boyish want sometimes, when they come home. Forget homework and just hit the PC games! My kind of kid! Pity he's thinking ahead of himself with relationships. Couple of days later, I held a big party for little Athena. She hadn't had much of a start in life, and it was now time for her to move to that next transition. Some of Laz's friends dropped in as well as the guys sister, Jenny. If they had a sister, why hadn't she taken them in? I never did work that one out. She just muttered something about "Her husband not agreeing to it" and walked off. No wonder they rarely phone her. Soon as it was dark, the lights appeared and Athena Grew big. She was so pleased to be able to say something at last... Okay, even if all she could say was "Ga" it was an improvement on what went before! While Athena was growing up, couple of other kids were trying the same thing as well! Oh, I am so going to have to talk to these two!.... But what can I do? Teenagers? Hormones? Boy meets girl under a crescent moon?
"Oh Mel... You smell so nice..."
" Vid, just what are you playing at with Melody? You know your both too young for this stuff, and I could loose my job over it?"
He looked very upset about it, I'll give him that.

"Your just going to have to cool it.. Plenty of time for that later in life" Next day at breakfast, he asked my opinion on relationships... As if I'm the world's authority? Me? Mr Single!
Well, I told him straight.
"Get yourselves an education first, there's enough time for settling doen once you graduate. Heck, you may change your mind there or find someone else"
He didn't like that last part, still it's what can happen. Lazlo started making friends with some of the local strays. I didn't mind too much, it kept the rat population down quite a lot. Though, the dogs with the glowing eyes, now they did kinda creep me out a lot. But he likes them, and as I'm not paying for the food he feeds them, why should I worry?
I mean, what harm can glowy dogs do? Now that Athenas had grown to a toddler, Pascal spent all his free time teaching her cool stuff like talking, and trying to get the hang of walking. We all pitched in and potty trained the little lady, heck couldn't leave everything to Pas, now could we? I think Melody's already decide who she's going to grow old with.... I hope Vidcund doesn't mind after our little talk. Athenas, now walking, talking and seeing to her own needs, spends loads of time with her building blocks. When she's not trying to eat them, she even gets them in the right holes. Never seen such a happy child.... I wish they were all like her! Now he no longer had anything to do, Pas started keeping himself to himself. I was starting to get worried about this kid, tried talking to him but he told me he was find, he was thinking of Collage. Stupid of me! Of course, he's the oldest and would be leaving pretty darn soon. He's after renting his own place... Perferes his own company he told me... Good luck to him, I say! Finaly got Mel to spend some time with the others in the house, her and Vid were almost living in each others back pockets. Lazlo enjoyed the attension, but I did have to point out to him later, that trying to score with his brothers girlfriend wasn't a good idea unless he wanted to loose his teeth!
I think he took the hint. Don't the years fly by? Before we knew it, Athena has grown into a child. A right pretty one too, apart from her lack of a nose. Guess that was why she was dumped here, an alien birth.... But they can do wonders with plastic surgery today. Though why she chose the bathroom, when we were all wanting to use it, I can't figure out! Melody taught Athena how to do her school work and the girls started hanging out all the time. Athena would stay up waiting for Mel to come home from work - She was the only one of the lot that had bothered to help the houses income - You figure it! Breakfast one morning, and Vid's started with the flirting already! Blowing kisses now. Oh, I give up! I can't stand in the way of young love.... Lucky so and so's.... Lazlo went back to filling names into his book, how he manages to do it and keep his school work up, I don't know. Wish he'd tell me some of his secrets....

"...what is it?...." "Do you like me at all?.... Is there any chance that you might want to be my girl?" I think that's her way of saying "Yes" " And then it got this big!"
I hope he's talking about fishing... "Look you two... I just give up, your young and in love... And I think that's great! Loves a wonderfull thing. Just don't do anything stupid to ruin it okay?" " I think the pair of you will go far"
"Thanks Andrew" The day came at last when one of my teens decided it was time to leave. Pascal got on the phone to check availability at the Collage. Seems they had space for him and sent a taxi. I know Athena's going to miss him, but good luck to you kid! Study hard and I'll see you when you return, that's if you want to come back here! Lazlo started chatting up the papergirl, but it was a hard task when all she wanted to talk about was his blonde haired brother... You know how to pick them Laz! But, he kept going... Took her on a date, they danced through the night. And I wake up from a nap to this!
Must run in the family, though saying that, Pascal was never like this.
Nice quiet Pascal... Wonder how he's getting on at Collage? Though if I had known, I wouldn't have wondered.... This family seems to have a thing about bathrooms! What does a guy need after a hot date? A change of look and wardrobe. Looks kinda cool I think, but then anything would look good on this guy! She kept begging me for a pet, so I got her one of them womrats. Told her it had to stay in the cage, I wasn't chasing round the house after it... Far too many places for the little critter to hide in. They'd all just gone to school and I was clearing up as normal, then if hit me. I was going to loose two more soon. It was fast approaching Melody and Vidcund birthdays, and they were starting to get their gear ready for the move to Collage. Pretty soon, it would just be Lazlo, Athena and myself. Boy would this house feel empty! I never stopped them dropping by to visit Pascal, they really looked forward to seeing their older brother doing well, and it helped give them an idea what Collage was going to be like. I was proud to hear he'd made the Dean's list first year he was there!
That's Pascal! Always working hard for his furture! This was one of our last family shots. Couldn't figure out why Athena didn't want a party for her birthday. She thought she'd have it a quiet affair this time... But why choose the bathroom again? There wasn't the room ro swing a womrat, never mind a towel!
Mel and Vidcund moved to Collage that night, place seems empty without them flirting all over it. But I'm sure Lazlo will make up for all that! Now that they were either teens or moved to Collage, I could finaly get a job and help pay the bills. Thought I'd try my hand at the medical profession.... Okay, they had a vacancy and I needed the cash... Even my work mates weren't safe from Lazlo, he was still working on his masterplan of collecting girls names for later use. Oh well, as long as no one gets hurt.. I can imagine Athena' teachers when she told him this one...

She didn't do much to stop him, I can tell you! The day finaly dawned when Lazlo got on the phone and sorted out his grants. He seemed rather surprised over the number he qualified for. Put a smile on his face, I can tell you. The sun hadn't even risen when the taxi came for him, leaving Athena and I to the old house. It'd be sometime before she left for Collage, if that was what she wanted. The brothers would be long out by that time and hopefully at least one of them will come back to this old place. I think they might like living here in the future....Whatever it may hold for them. So long Lazlo Curious... Collage and the ladies won't know what's going to hit them!
