Hello and welcome to the sequel of my (if I may say so myself) best story I have written for TSR 'History..." If you have not read that I would advise you to do so as you will not have any history on the characters. Well, what are you waiting for?... read on!
Lilly: "Paul, it's Ok, he's getting some therapy..."
Paul: "Are you going to take him back?"
Lilly: "Paul, I..."
Paul: "Lilly!"
Lilly: "Of course I'm not, I don't want him near Jennifer, but that's not up for me to decide..."
Paul: "The courts will make sure he can go nowhere near her."
Lilly: "I am so glad you came, Paul. We are going to need some help with Marcus being gone..."
Paul: "It's always a pleasure, coming to see my beautiful girl."
Lilly: "Oh Paul... anyway, cup of coffee?"
Paul: "No thanks, what does Jennifer think of you kicking her dad out?"
Lilly: "You would have to ask her..." Lilly: "There you are Jennifer! We were just talking about you..."
Jennifer: "What's he doing here again?"
Lilly: "Well, your father isn't living with us anymore..."
Jennifer: "Why not?"
Lilly: "Because he thought he was a danger to us because he was always hurting us."
Jennifer: "He never hurt me!"
Lilly: "Did it not hurt you inside when he hurt me?"
Jennifer: "I suppose, but I just didn't watch... or listen."
Lilly: "I know, but you will see him soon, don't worry nothing is going to change, and Paul is going to look after us for a while." Jennifer: "I don't need looking after! And I could look after you... we don't need him here! I'm going to play with my dolls..."
Paul: "Don't worry... she'll come around."
Lilly: "yes I know she will, I just hope it doesn't take too long, because I love you Paul." Paul: "I love you too, and we have wasted too much of our lives being separated, I have missed you so much and want for us to be together always..."
Lilly: "I feel the same." she said breathlessly.
Paul: "Well, I have been thinking, why don't you settle for a divorce with Marcus?"
Lilly: "I don't know Paul, I mean we could still rekindle our marriage..."
Paul: "But I thought you loved me?"
Lilly: "I do, but it's Jennifer! I have to try for her sake."
Paul: "No Lilly I won't let this happen again, You won't be taken from me again, i love you!"
Lilly: "I know, I love you too but I love Jennifer too, even if I don't love Marcus... i just want to see her happy..." Paul: "I know, but you can't make everyone happy all of the time."
Lilly: "No but I can try!"
Paul: "Come here, this is why I love you, you are so emotionally irrational..."
Lilly: "Irrational? I am not irrational, i am just looking out for my daughter!"
Paul: "Lilly, calm dow..."
Lilly: "No Paul! I don't want to hear it! Maybe you should come back another time, this wasn't a good idea after all."
Paul: "Ok, well I'll see you later then?"
Lilly: "yes goodbye."
Paul: "Yeah... bye" His voice cracked and he walked away. Paul traipsed to the place that filled him with pleasant memories of his first date with Lilly... As he was pushing her on the swing, he was getting wafts of her intoxicating perfume, he inhaled deeply, she smelled like strawberries, with a mix of turkish delight, it was a weird but wonderful smell, the way this girl made him feel was different to any other, she was special, innocent... He didn't want to have to do it to her but he couldn't stop it now... Yes that was a special place for Paul, those woods were a special place... a sacred place in his heart. Jennifer: "We are all alone now, aren't we?"
Lilly: "Yes darling, we are, but Paul should be back soon..."
Jennifer: "I don't like him... there's something weird about him, he's just not..."
Lilly: "Daddy? Honey he isn't trying to replace daddy in your heart, just mine."
Jennifer: "I know, I just look out for you, I don't want him to be worse than daddy was."
Lilly: "What do mean? Jennifer did daddy hurt you?"
Jennifer: "No, don't be silly! I meant more to him than you did."
Lilly: "I know..."
Jennifer: "Daddy put that mark on your face didn't he mummy?"
Lilly: "Yes he did, but he isn't a bad man so don't you ever think that, he is just very passionate, and sometimes it turns out bad..."
Jennifer: "Ok mummy? Can you help me with my homework now?" As Lilly kissed Jennifer goodnight, the doorbell rang.
Lilly: "Goodnight, Jennifer."
Jennifer: "Goodnight mummy." Lilly: "Paul? I wasn't expecting you so soon."
Paul: "Lilly, I am so sorry, I should be supporting you not telling you what you have to do, I know your decisions are for the best so I will accept them. i don't want to lose you Lilly, and today showed me how much I would hate to be left without you again."
Lilly: "It's just so hard trying to decide whether what's best for me is best for my daughter. I mean how do I choose, how do I know?"
Paul: "I don't know but I am going to help you through these hard times, even if we can only be friends."
Lilly: "Paul, you know as well as I that we will never be just friends..." ... Jennifer: "So Paul's back?"
Lilly: "Yes, honey Paul is back."
Jennifer: "I don't think Paul is best for me..."
Lilly: "So you were listenng to our conversation?"
Jennifer: "Yes and I know how you can decide what is best for me. By asking me of course! And I just told you my opinion on the matter, he can't stay."
Lilly: "But he's what's best for me... can't you just be happy for me. Go to bed now we'll talk in the morning Ok?"
Jennifer: "Fine!" Jennifer: "I don't like that man! There has to be some way I can show mum his true colours! I want Daddy back! He won't take Daddy's place! Won't Won't WON'T!" This continued for several hours before she fell asleep in a rage. Lilly: "I'm sorry Paul, I don't know what her problem is, but I think I know how to make it up to you..."
Paul: "Probably the same way that I could make up for my selfishness with you..."
Lilly: "Probably..." Lilly: "Paul? I didn't want to tell you before because I was scared, but I'm pregnant..."
Paul: "Is it mine?"
Lilly: "Of course it's yours I haven't been intimate with Marcus for years, Jennifer put him off I think, at least he didn't want any more children, but he loved jennifer to pieces... sorry I just ramble, I don't mean to keep bringing him up it's just..."
Paul: "Sshh, I understand you were married for a long time, it's just habit. But I think it's time we broke the habit, don't you?"
Lilly: "Oh yes!" Marcus: "So Lilly? I see you're pregnant again? My lawyer tells me we are now settling for a divorce, what makes you think I would let such a thing happen."
Paul: "Because if you don't I'll..."
Lilly: "Paul, it's ok. But maybe it's best if you go play with Jennifer for a while."
Paul: "Ok..." Lilly: "I think you will let it happen, Marcus, because you still love me and giving me what I want might win back my heart. Also this baby isn't yours there is nothing keeping you with me..."
Marcus: "I have Jennifer, I need Jennifer."
Lilly: "I would still let you see Jennifer, why would I stop you?"
Marcus: "Because of what I did to you... I am better now though, I have learnt to control my rage and frustration, please Lilly, take me back I won't do it again."
Lilly: "I know you won't because I am not taking you back. I am in love with Paul. I am over you now, I couldn't possibly take you back."
Marcus: "Think what's best for Jennifer..."
Lilly: "I am Marcus, and I don't think that her growing up in a household with no love is best for her."
Marcus: "Don't you think you could learn to love me again?"
Lilly: "No, Marcus I don't... I'm sorry."
Marcus: "I guess I had better go then... JENNIFER!" Jennifer: "MUMMY!"
Paul: "Oh my God! Have you seen what he's done to her?"
Lilly: "What? Come here Jennifer, let me see."
Jennifer: "No! You brought him here, now get him out!"
Lilly: "Jennifer be reasonable..."
Marcus: "Reasonable? She has a black eye for christ's sake!"
Lilly: "What? Paul explain yourself!" Paul: "I didn't do anything, I swear. I was just playing her toys with her like you asked and she just started attacking herself and shouting at me... i tried to stop her but she wouldn't."
Lilly: "Jennifer, is this true?" Marcus: "Of course it's not true. Lilly have you seen her face?"
Lilly: "Yes I have seen it thankyou Marcus, now Jennifer, this is very serious, did you do this to yourself as Paul says or is he lying? I want you to think very carefully about this because he could go to jail if he is lying."
Marcus: "Jennifer just tell your mother that Paul did it we know he did you won't be in trouble..."
Jennifer: "Mummy, I'm sorry... Paul is telling the truth, I didn't mean to."
Marcus: "Jennifer, why are you lying for him? He won't hurt you for telling the truth."
Jennifer: "I am telling the truth Daddy." Jennifer: "I'm sorry Paul, i nearly got you into trouble didn't I?"
Paul: "Yes you did but it's quite alright now."
Jennifer: "I know you love my Mum but I was just trying to protect her."
Paul: "I know it's Ok, do you want to go and play or sit in here with us?"
Jennifer: "I'll sit with Mummy..."
Paul: "OK" Lilly: "So, Marcus, are you going to give me the divorce or not."
Marcus: "Yes, I just have to say one thing though, I am so sorry for all those years wasted with me..."
Lilly: "Oh they weren't wasted Marcus, remember we have Jennifer here..."
Marcus: "Yes well, Paul I am terribly sorry for accusing you of... well... yeah. Sorry."
Paul: "That's Ok, you were just protecting your daughter, I totally understand."
Marcus: "Well, I have to go speak to my lawyer, bye sweety."
Jennifer: "Bye Daddy." Jennifer: "Mum why are there no good T.V shows on my birthday?"
Lilly: "I have no idea, honey, why don't you phone the television companies and ask them?"
Jennifer: "Mum you sound exhausted maybe you should go to bed?"
Lilly: "I can't rest I have your birthday to organise!"
Jennifer: "Is Daddy coming?"
Lilly: "If he can make it, yes"
Jennifer: "Did you tell him it was important to me that he turn up?"
Lilly: "Yes, and so did you... several times. I think he got the message honey. Now, these sausage rolls aren't going to make themselves you know..."
Jennifer: "Ok sorry." Lilly was due any day now and the divorce was finalised, about time too, but her main concern right now was these sausage rolls and Marcus turning up. She knew how upset Jennifer would be if he couldn't make it. It was going to break her heart. She turned around saw the can of peaches and sighed.
Lilly: "Paul? I'm in over my head here, do you think you could help make the fruit salad?"
Paul; "Yeah, sure I'll be there in a minute." Paul: "He'll turn up, I assure you. he always does."
Lilly: "I know, it just feels like... there's something wrong, maybe I should call him..."
Paul: "Lilly, you're being paranoid, just calm down and have a cup of coffee, if you stress out anymore, you're going to go into labour, remember you're due any day now."
Lilly: "Yes I know, you're right, think of the baby. I don't want it to come today, it can't come today..."
Paul: "Why not?"
Lilly: "Because Jennifer will be upset when all the attention is not on her and besides we don't really want them to be sharing a birthday, imagine how hectic that could get."
Paul: "Yes Ok, just take a rest, you've been on your feet all day getting ready for this party. I'll clean up in here Ok?"
Lilly: "Ok, love you..." By the time of the party Marcus still had not shown up, Jennifer was extremely disappointed, but she tried her best to hide it and have a good time.
Lilly: "Sorry your father couldn't make it Jennifer..."
Jennifer: "It's not your fault he is such a jerk mummy, you would have thought he would show, maybe he feels weird around you two? Oh well, I am sick of waiting for him... I am ready to blow out my candles!"
Paul: "So, what you gonna wish for?"
Jennifer: "Dad..." Jennifer's looks came to par with her intelligence as she finally looked her age! Lilly was so proud, her daughter was all grown up! Lilly: "Jennifer do you think you could help me with the dishes?"
Jennifer: "Sure mum, thanks for the party."
Lilly: "That's Ok... Jennifer, what's that... is that blood?"
Paul: "What's going on?"
Lilly: "Jennifer's nose is bleeding!"
Paul: "I guess it was just the angle she was sitting at watching TV, perhaps we could get the bracket lowered?"
Lilly: "Is that what it was Jennifer?"
Jennifer: "I guess it must have been, I didn't even notice it was there till you pointed it out."
Lilly: "Don't worry about the dishes Jennifer, I'll do them."
Jennifer: "No mum I want to help, you have enough to do, preparing for this baby."
Lilly: "Ok" Lilly: "Jenny? You're crying. Are you Ok?"
Jennifer: "Yes Mum I am fine."
Lilly: "Are you sure?"
Jennifer: "Yes it's just... I'm upset because dad couldn't make it today..."
Lilly: "Oh right. about that. I don't know why he didn't come, I invited him so many times, I'm sorry he disappointed you honey."
Jennifer: "It's Ok." She hastily wiped away the tear. "See I'm fine now" Lilly went to bed that night, worried about Jennifer. She had always been truthful to her in the past. So why was there this worry in the back of her mind that this was not about her father? It was so confusing but it prevented Lilly from getting to sleep and made her very stressed. So it was no surprise when she went into an unexpected labour that night. the build-up of stress had caused her to rush into labour. The baby was coming! And Trisha was born. Lilly and Paul's first child, how it was meant to be since they were children. Lilly put Trisha in her crib and waited for Jennifer and Paul to meet the new member of the family. paul was overjoyed, he had his own daughter, with the woman he loved with all his heart... Jennifer though, seemed excited but it was evident from the look in her eyes that she loathed the child, she wouldn't even hold it!
Lilly: "Jennifer, don't you like your sister, Trisha? She likes you!"
Jennifer: "She's Ok, it's just going to take some getting used to that's all."
Lilly: "Yes I suppose she is." Paul: "I want to take you out tonight."
Lilly: "Like a date you mean?"
Paul: "Yes"
Lilly: "I don't know Paul, i mean i don't think Jennifer could look after a new-born baby..."
Paul: "She'll be fine. Come on, please, if you don't think she is capable, we could always hire a nanny."
Lilly: "Ok, but we will let Jennifer look after her, I think she is old enough to stay at home alone, with some level of responsibility."
Paul: "She has always been sensible, we won't have any trouble... I promise."
Lilly: "Paul, where are we going?"
Paul: "You'll see... trust me you will like it"
Lilly: "I trust you." Lilly: "Oh Paul, our first date... thankyou so much!"
Paul: "Do you feel alright coming here? We can always leave if you don't."
Lilly: "No, I am fine because I'm with you." They enjoyed reminiscing their first date. But Lilly had a very uneasy feeling as she was being pushed on the swing, she kept looking back to check that Paul was still there.
Paul: "What's wrong? You think something's going to happen don't you?"
Lilly: "I can't help it, it's just always there, a fear that something will break us up, and take you away from me again."
Paul: "Nothing's going to happen I promise. Now just enjoy yourself, and if you feel that you really can't, then... we'll go home."
Lilli: "Ok I'll try." Jennifer: "You, are an evil little child! I am going to cast you off this roof and have rid of you! I can't have the offspring of that evil man haunting me or my mother, I'm sorry Trisha..."
But right as Jennifer was about to drop her over the edge, Trisha's eyes caught hers and they just stared at each other for a moment before Jennifer burst into tears.
Jennifer: "I'm sorry Trisha, I just hate your father, he is a bad man. But you, you aren't like him, I can see that and I'll make sure you don't become like him either." Paul: "LILLY! RUN! GET OUT OF HERE!"
Lilly: "PAUL! I WON'T LEAVE YOU BEHIND!"
PAul: "YOU HAVE NO CHOICE... RUN!
Lilly: "PAUL! PAUL?....Paul... Lilly: "Jennifer! What are you doing? Give her to me!"
Jennifer: "We were just getting to know each other, weren't we Trisha."
Lilly: "But you didn't want anything to do with her earlier?"
Jennifer: "Well she is my sister, besides I have to protect her from him."
Lilly: "Who?"
Jennifer: "Your boyfriend, his nature cannot be passed on to Trisha."
Lilly: "What are you talking about... his nature... I don't understand?"
Jennifer: "I lied before Mother, Paul did hit me, a lot actually, that's what the nose-bleed was the other day and the hundreds of other injuries I have sustained are because of HIM! I told you he was bad! And he won't influence Trisha to be the same!"
Lilly; "I don't believe you Jennifer, it's too absurd and you are being hysterical. Now give Trisha to me." Jennifer: "Fine! Take her! But I won't stay here, not as long as he is anyway."
Lilly: "Well you have nothing to worry about then..."
Jennifer: "Why not? Did he leave you?"
Lilly: "Of course he didn't! he got attacked... on our date! It was exactly the same as last time except I wasn't attacked as well."
Jennifer: "Wow, do you know who it was? Wait it could just as easily have been him you know, since he didn't have any scars or anything from the last time, maybe it was him! And he did it again tonight, though I can't think why."
Lilly: "You can't think why because there is no rational explanation, and you're being absurd. Now I don't want to see you again for the rest of the night. I'm sick of you and your stupid theories. I lost my true love tonight and you can only blame him!"
Jennifer: "Ok I'll stay away from you mother, so away you won't see me ever again. i am going to live with dad!" Lilly once again looked out of the window to check for Paul, he hadn't come home, he was... gone. Jennifer was gone... everyone was leaving her and it would only be a matter of time before Trisha did too. Will Lilly ever find happiness, or will she be destined for a lonely life? Only time will tell, but one thing is for certain... There'll be another part!
