This is the prologue of my new story titled: In Dreams. I hope you like it as it is completely different from anything I have ever done before. Please leave me a comment and tell me what you thought of it. Oh and look out for Chapter 1. Michael Warbeck looked up at his new house wondering what sort of life he was soon to have. His sister, Maria, was not very happy with the move and leaving all of her friends behind. She looked up at the house with a scowl on her face. This wasn't how her life was supposed to turn out. His mother, Tanya held Karen who was dribbling into her mothers' shoulder, she could feel the young girls excitement. Loco who was just as lazy as ever was relaxing in the grass which tickled is belly as he breathed. "MIKE, WILL YOU GET DOWN HERE? I DON'T WANT YOU TO BE LATE ON YOUR FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL!" Michael forced his eyed open at his mothers call, rubbed the sleep gluing his eyes together and clambered out of bed, grumbling about early mornings. "What about Maria? Ugh, it's still dark! I hate school." Lots of thoughts were running through his head as he wondered what his new school would be like and how he would be treated. Michael chowed down on his breakfast cereal, while Tanya, bustled around the kitchen taking care of Karen who was giggling happily in her high chair. Maria grudgingly trundled down the stairs about half an hour later, scowling at the bright lights which almost blinded her. Michael watched her as she poured herself a bowl of cereal and sat down at the table eating. Tanya noticed that her eldest daughter looked less than happy.
"Maria, what's the problem? You're going to love it here. I promise."
Maria scowled, if possible, even more.
"Mum, I already hate it! Do you realise what I gave up to move to this stupid converted barn? I had a life! I was going to be working with Simstyle's magazine! I was..."
"Well you're not anymore!" Tanya interrupted, she desperately wanted her daughter to show some enthusiasm for the move. "Now you are going to spend at least some time here, I know that you are going to like it. Please, just give this place a chance." Tanya pleaded with her daughter, this was the best decision Tanya had ever made... and she wanted some support. Maria stared into her cereal and stirred the milk with her spoon. The bus horn honked and the clatter of spoons was heard on the bottom of the empty bowls as Michael and Maria hurried off to school. Tanya sighed heavily as she heaved Karen out of the high chair so she could play with Loco and her toys on the kitchen floor... Michael's day at school was pretty uneventful until he met her. Penelope was a vision of beauty. She was the most popular girl in Michael's year and he felt his heart race when he saw her, his palms went sweaty and he began to shake with nerves. He sat on his own for lunch that day. He watched as all the children filed past chatting animatedly, Penelope was very close to the boys in the year, surprise surprise. The bell rang and Michael ran off to his first history lesson. he sat there bored out of his skull, listening to Mrs. Gallagher droning on about the knights of the round table and lots of other myth. He had a perfect idea of those times and what they were like... He began to think of bustling towns full of laughter and merriment as people went about their daily business. the heat was overwhelming in the stuffy classroom and Mrs. Gallaghers' droning had turned into an incessant buzzing in his ears... Michael began to dream of a small cottage in the woods by a bubbling stream in the town of Peasantview. Michael was sat in the kitchen watching his mother stew up some vegetables. Loco was running amok around the kitchen, excited by the aromas. Loco began to bark as the sound of distant footsteps approached the little cottage.
"Loco, stop barking... it's probably just Maria back with the berries." Tanya scolded
Tanya paused stirring the vegetables to take a look out of the window and let out a shriek of surprise.
"Michael, get in the bedroom, now!"
"But why?" Michael began.
"NOW I SAID!" Michael hurried into the bedroom, surprised at his mothers outburst, as a knock sounded on the door.
"Open up in the name of the King!" A voice boomed from outside.
A scary looking woman stepped into the house as Tanya opened the door, examining the room with one sweeping look, she said.
"We have come to take your son. He is one of the select few to have been summoned by the king."
Michael sat back on the bed stunned, what would the king want with him? His mothers hysterical voice echoed off the stone walls.
"What son? I have no idea what you are talking about!"
"That is a lie Miss Warbeck, your son Michael has been summoned, and if he doesn't choose to come then he will be taken by force. Even if that means your cottage will be burned down to the ground." Michael yelled out in horror from the bedroom. "So the boy is here? Guards check that room." She shrieked pointing to the bedroom door. Michael wriggled and squealed as the guards dragged him into the the kitchen.
"You need not worry about Micahel anymore Tanya, he will be in safe hands." She said in a simpering voice.
"Please don't take him... Please! I'll do anything!" Tanya shrieked as the tears ran down her face. "There is nothing you can do. He has been summoned. Say goodbye to your mother Michael, it might be a while until you see her again. If indeed you ever see her at all." Michael hugged his mother goodbye.
"I'm sorry Michael, it was your father who made this happen right before he died. Be careful, you will see me again I promise."
But all too soon Michael was wrenched from his mothers arms, and he, the guards and the scary woman, crossed the bridge through the woods, on their three day trek to the palace. They arrived at the palace a few days later, exhausted and hungry. The trip hadn't exactly been an enjoyable one, the conversation had been thin and the company wasn't exactly great. The rain pelted against the stone walls and glass windows. Michael was quickly shown his lodgings alongside a few other boys. A rather pompous boy greeted him and welcomed him to the group. "I'm Lionel, we are glad for the few extra's like you that are willing to fight the resistance." He stated proudly.
"Er, what?"
"The resistance? That's why you're here! To help us fight those unwilling to obey the law! Well, we are just in training for it, we need to be honed from a very young age." He seemed knowledgable, Michael thought.
Michael sat on his bed, stunned. How could his father have done this to him? Selling him for the king to use as some persuasion tool.
"Anyway, welcome to the clan." Lionel said cheerfully and walked away to meet more newcomers.
The next morning as Michael was being led to breakfast along with the other boys... he snuck away trying to escape form the palace and get back home to his family. Not knowing that this was great treachery to the king. He snuck around a wall, hesitating slightly... He saw a beautiful garden, full to bursting with gorgeous flowers and lots of different scents. A majestical fountain stood in the centre. "You shouldn't be here!" A girlish voice whispered. Michael looked around but could see no-one. "Go back to your family, escape the knightship that awaits you, it will all turn bad for my father in the end. Please go." A girl stepped from behind a bush, her golden hair glinting in the sunlight, her blue eyes dazzling like sapphires. "Your Highness" Michael bowed, he could not believe he was meeting Princess Penelope!
"Let me explain something to you!" she hissed. "Get out of here! You see that man?" she asked pointing through a nearby window.
"He is brainwashing my father! It is not my fathers fault, that man is not after law-breakers as people have been led to believe! He is framing certain people that could get in his way... I think he is trying to take over this land of Peasantview. You do not want to be a part of it. You have to go! Please leave." The princess pushed him out of the garden.
"Please leave!" She repeated.
"Ok, I'll go, but I'll come back, I'll help you fix this. Maybe soon. I'm not ready yet."
"Very well, but please go!"
"Mr. Warbeck!" Michael woke up with a start. "You really think it necessary to fall asleep in my classroom?" Michael shook his head stammering.
"N-no ma'am."
"Well I don't either. Now I hope you have been paying attention" she said addressing the class but looking pointedly at Michael. "because I expect a fifteen hundred word essay on King Arthur to be handed in on friday."
Michael looked downcast as he left the classroom, worrying how he was supposed to write such a long essay on a topic he knew nothing about. "Hey, Michael, isn't it?" Asked a sweet voice. Michael looked around and saw penelope running to catch up with him. "That Mrs. Gallagher is a horrible old bat isn't she?" she giggled "She just drones on and on... no wonder you fell asleep. If she hadn't shouted at you right then I think I would have fallen asleep too." Michael smiled at her unsure of what to say. "Well I was wondering..." she continued "I wrote down a lot of notes, so if you want you can borrow them... not for too long though. I need to use them." She grinned patiently awaiting Michael's answer.
"Oh... right, yeah! That would be great! Thanks Penelope."
"Oh, it's no problem... well I'll see you tomorrow." She waved goodbye and walked off.
Michael stepped through the school gates with a spring in his step. Well, until he caught sight of Maria, who was still scowling as she clambered into the school bus. Michael bundled in after her and they headed home.

Peasantview. XD That's such a cute name for a town! And the story seems pretty interesting so far. And I know how Michael feels. At my elementary school we had a librarian named Mrs. Gallagher...and it used to be really boring when she'd read to us. But the Mrs. Gallagher in this story seems mean...at least our librarian was nice. I'll be looking for the next part! ^^

Woah, fantastic prologue. You are Sam Cains, right? Cause I went onto the S.Cains profile, absolutely nothing, except that you were 17, and in this you said in was like no story you've done before, yet there was no other stories under S.Cains, so its you isn't it? Anyways, I look forward to seeing where you go with this. And the house the family live in, is the same house I moved Roxy, from my Roxanne's Happy Ending? series, into. 5.0\:D
