Hello, welcome to the next part of Lolita's kidnapping. This is the second part in a substory from the History series. The first part was called What Happened To Marcus. This part will be much clearer and make more sense if you read that part first. Will she be returned home to her parents? Who was the kidnapper? Turn the page to find out.
"Where is my mummy and daddy?"
"They'll be along in a few days, meanwhile the nice people living here are going to look after you. They will treat you nice and your parents want you to be nice to them as well. So, are you ready to meet them." Lolita nodded an apprehensive agreement. "Great! Let's go then, I promise you, you will be safe with these people." Paula led the way into the house, Lolita trailing behind. "Miss Godfrey? I have brought the child as you requested." Lolita waited in the background as the two women spoke.
"This is Lolita?"
"Of course, do you not trust me?" It was clear that Lilly did not trust anyone, other than herself.
"You're sure it's the right child?"
"Yes! This is Lolita Bates, daughter of Agatha and Marcus Bates." Paula was getting extremely agitated, she was highly skilled in this area of work. Jennifer gave Paul a confused look, which he returned, as they continued to listen in on Lilly and Paula's conversation.
"Excellent! I'll take her off your hands right now."
"Not without giving me the money first." Paula was not leaving without her promised price.
"Right how much was it again?"
"I believe we agreed on ten thousand... but if you can't pay me, I will gladly take Lolita back to her family."
"No, no no. Here I have it." Lilly ducked under the sofa and pulled out an expensive looking briefcase. But instead of handing the money over... Lilly knocked Paula out cold! Surprised by the events Paul and Jennifer didn't react to their surroundings, apart from staring open-mouthed.
"You two! Drag her outside. Lay her in the road! Just get rid of her! We don't have the money yet, we'll have to pay her off later."
"Mum, this wasn't part of the plan! You weren't supposed to take Lolita!" "Well, Marcus was supposed to give me back my money! I am sick of people deceiving me, Jennifer. And you are no different, now we are going to look after this child until I get my money!"
"Mum, it is OUR money. And you say you can't trust me? Well that's Ok, I don't trust you either. You ruined our lives, and now you're just making it worse! Paul doesn't want to be here. He is in love with Carol! I don't even want to be here, I had friends, I had a normal life, well as normal as possible. And now you have taken this little girl? I will have no part in the things you are going to do with her." Lolita was frightened. What things are they going to do? Was she really safe in this house with these people. Lilly had knocked Paula out with one blow. What was next? Lilly turned to face Paul, at least he would do as she said, he had to.
"I want you to lock Lolita into her new bedroom. Now please." Paul was wrestling with himself, trying to decide whether he was going to do it or not. She was just a little girl...
"NOW PAUL!" Paul quickly hurried over to Lolita and forced her to follow him. Jennifer, was disgusted by her mothers actions.
"Mum! She's a little girl, you have completely lost your mind! If you think for one minute that I am going to stay here and act like nothing is wrong, then you're more crazy than I thought you were!" She started towards the door as if to leave. "Jennifer, you can't leave! You'll tell the police! I can't let you do this!" Jennifer made no signs of stopping. "JENNIFER STOP!" Still Jennifer carried on, and she didn't stop even once she had left the house. Jennifer had left Lilly yet again. Paul returned cautiously, telling Lilly he had done as she asked.
"Well it's about time, now get rid of this... Paula. And then you can tell me what Lolita is doing."
"Where is Jennifer?"
"She has left us, for good."
"Again?" This came as a surprise. Paul had never expected Jennifer to leave her mum. "Lilly, when can I go back to my wife and kids?" Even though Edward is not his child, he still feels the same way about him, the way he does Trisha.
"Paul, you can't go back. And you won't run either, because you know what I'll do if you leave me. You don't want to hurt Carol do you?" Paul shook his head "Didn't think so, then you'll be staying here with me." Paul was hurt. When did Lilly become so cruel? What had made her this way?
"Lilly, why are you treating us this way?" "Because I love you Paul! But you, you seem to have forgotten about everything we had!"
"Lilly, I haven't forgotten I..."
"No Paul, it doesn't matter now... it didn't matter how long it took. I knew that in my heart I always loved you and that I would wait for you, always. But now I have you, the wait seems worthless! You have done nothing to show me that you are at least relieved that I am alive." Lilly broke down, sobbing into her knees. "But I won't let you leave me Paul. I can't let you leave me." "Lilly, I can see how much you need me. But the little girl, it's wrong what you are doing. Don't you see that." Paul knew that if he did one thing right, he was going to get the little girl out of here.
"I know it's wrong but it was the only way I could get Marcus to give me the money..."
"You don't need money Lilly. When you have me." He said it with uncertainty... did he still have feelings for Lilly? Or had she made herself unredeemable.
"Paul, come with me I have something to show you..." She headed towards Jennifer's room. She ushered him inside, and told him to take a look around
"Make yourself at home Paul. Because this is where you will be staying for the next few weeks? Months? Years? It all depends on when you will succumb to my wishes." Paul stared wildly around for a way to escape as Lilly locked the door with enthusiasm. "See you later Paul, have a nice time." She chirped. But something wasn't right. Paula she had gone! "Come on Lolita, we have to get out of here. I didn't realise this was how it would be. I thought these people knew you. I am going to take you back to your parents... come on." Lolita just stared at Paula, thinking.
"No, I am not going anywhere with you. I will wait for my mummy and daddy, to come and get me."
"But your mummy and daddy don't know that you are here."
"So you lied to me? Well there's no way I am going with you now. You could probably be lying to me again." Paula stared at the poor child.
"Then I will stay here with you, I won't hurt you Lolita, I will protect you from these people." Later that evening, while she let the hot water wash over her, Lilly felt a deep sense of relief and satisfaction with everything that had happened earlier that day. It hadn't all gone accordingly to plan, but she had everything she wanted. Apart from Jennifer, who she knew would never be coming back. Paula, slowly shook Lolita awake, it was 5am.
"Come on, Lolita. It's time to go. I am taking you back to your family."
"What? Why are you waking me up this early?" She lay her head back on the pillow, and closed her eyes again.
"Lolita, please wake up." "Ok I'm up, I'm up. But this is silly, we're locked in this room, and I don't trust you remember?" Paula looked at Lolita with respect. This girl could look after herself.
"It's them you shouldn't trust they locked you in this room! Please get dressed and we'll quietly go home." Lolita clambered out of bed and rubbed the sleep from her eyes.
"Quick get dressed" Paula repeated. "Once I have us out of this room, you'll be home in no time."
Paula headed over to the door while Lolita grabbed her clothes from the end of the bed. Paula got to work on unlocking the door, it didn't take very long, a few clicks of the lock and it was done.
"Lolita are you ready?" Paula whispered as she slowly creaked the door open.
"Yes, are we going now?" Lolita replied nervously. What if they got caught on the way out? "Follow me then" Paula suggested as they edged out into the hallway. The tv was on in the distance, but the time for escape was now.
"What if we get caught?" Lolita cried
"Sshhh! It will be Ok, as long as you keep quiet." Paula informed as they crept round the corner. They reached the front door and rushed outside into the cool, early morning air.
"We're out! So do you know the way back to my house?" Lolita asked
"Of course I know the way, but you are going to have to be quiet still, what if Lilly hears us?" Lolita silently agreed and followed Paula into the darkness. Lilly watched Tv unaware of the goings on. The daylight was creeping up on her as the sun rose from the horizon, creating a pink haze on everything. At around 7am Lilly decided it was time to check on the little girl, and she crept into the room hoping to scare Lolita with a morning wake up call. She was extremely confused and disappointed to find that Lolita was not in the room. She cried in dismay, the plan was ruined! She knew she should have killed Paula, while she had the chance. Wait, Paul might have let her go instead of locking her in the room. Lilly decided to find out. "The girl is gone Paul! Are you sure you locked the door? The plan is ruined, and now I am going to get found out! What's going to happen? You have to protect me Paul, you do still love me don't you?" Paul stayed silent "You do love me right?" "I knew this would happen! And no, Lilly I don't love you. How could I possibly, when you have tried to ruin our lives. I love Carol, and you are cruel, keeping us from each other. She needs me now more than ever, Lilly she's pregnant!" Lilly stood in silence, shocked at being reprimanded by her childhood friend.
"Paul, I... I'm sorry, but..."
"No Lilly this can't go on. I am sick of you, you do it all the time. I wish you could just be happy in one place, but you never can! You always manage to stir up some drama, causing us to run away again. Well I have stopped running now, Lilly. Me and Carol have planted our roots here in Riverblossom. You can leave if you want, but I won't be coming with you." Paul took a deep breath and stared at Lilly intently, trying to figure out what she would do next. Lilly realised with a shocking revelation that Paul was right... about everything.
"Paul, you're right" the tears began to flow, which was strange. Paul had never seen Lilly show this much emotion, Lilly was confused too, she had never felt this feeling before. "I am so sorry for everything I put you through. I have done everything wrong, I know now that if I had just stayed at my 'real' home, I would have been with you always..." She lightly stroked Paul's cheek longingly. "But now... now I have lost you forever. And I know it was IS my fault, and all I can do is apologise over and over. I'm just sorry that it won't change anything. This is it, isn't it?"
"Yes, Lilly, I must go home now, you understand?" Lilly's chin wobbled as she nodded in reply.
"You'll have some explaining to do though, I told Carol... I told her you were dead."
"I'll just tell her the truth." "The truth? You mean... everything?"
"Yes Lilly everything." Lilly's eyes widened in shock.
"You realise this could end really badly."
"I know, but Carol knows I love her, and wouldn't do anything to hurt her, I just hope she lets me back into her life." Lilly looked at Paul slyly
"I'll be here if you need me" She said seductively. Paul smiled at the joke as he pulled Lilly into a hug.
"Goodbye Lilly, are you staying in Riverblossom? Or leaving for good?"
"I am not sure yet" she replied her voice cracking "I expect I'll never see you again though, so this is goodbye." That is the end for this part, look out for the next part to see how far Carol is with her pregnancy, and the growth of the children. Also, was Paula telling the truth about taking Lolita back to her famiy. They will two seperate parts, however, i don't know which will be first. Perhaps I will integrate them though? I have no idea!
