Description
Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater is the multi-awarding winning video game created and directed by Hideo Kojima and developed by Konami Computer Entertainment Japan and published by Konami for the PlayStation 2. The dramatic story line is set in the 1960's Cold War era and primarily revolves around a massed, hidden, fortune called the Philosophers Legacy. This fortune is sought after by the US, the Soviet Union and Communist China. The Boss, also code name The Joy, is depicted as a legendary WW II soldier who is founder and former leader of whats known as the Cobra Unit. She is said to have given cesarian birth to a baby boy on the battle field, only to have him taken from her. She is both mentor and mother-figure to the main character Snake, aka Naked Snake. Over a period of ten years both she and Snake take on various missions together. In Metal Gear Solid 3, The Boss defects to the Soviet Union, or so Snake is lead to believe. This leads to what becomes Snake's primary mission in Operation Snake Eater... to kill The Boss. In a final battle the two meet in an open field in a battle to the death, ending with Snake taking her life. Shortly after, the truth is secretly revealed to Snake that The Boss' defection was only a pretense. She sacrificed her life in duty to her country, to prevent the Philosophers Legacy from falling into the hands of the enemy and to prevent nuclear war between the U.S.S.R. and the United States. Hailed as a hero, Snake is given the title of Big Boss.
