Hi there! For those of you who haven't met me before, I'm Connie Hurt. But, I was Connie Wilson before I got married. The story of my life has been quite a saga, and I figured it was about time I gave you a run down of what has gone on so far, so that everyone can play catch up. Part One:

I love my Dad. Of all the people in my rather tumultous childhood, he's the person who got me through it. He and my mum had a son, Albert, a few years before they had me, but by the time I was 5, it was all going horribly wrong. Mum wasn't happy with being the hard-working mother-of-two trying to pay the bills with their scant income with their demanding children wanting her attention all of the time. She left in search of wealthier pastures.

Albert always blamed himself for their divorce, so he took it very hard when Dad met Sandy. By the time they married, Albert hated his family and detested Sandy, and things were rocky.
Part Two:

As we entered out teenage years, Albert managed to make life hard for all of us. He fought with Dad, ignored Sandy altogether and bullied me. But then, I met this cute guy when I was shopping one day, and suddenly Albert and his childishness seemed very far away! Travis quickly became my best friend, with the possibility of becoming so much more.

But of course, Albert nearly ended that quick smart, almost chasing Travis out of my life there and then. Dad was furious when he found out how much Albert had upset me, but in the end Travis' maturity won and we started going steady.

When Sandy fell pregnant, however, it was one fight too many between Dad and Albert, and Albert left to go live with Mum. Maddy, our half sister, became a breath of fresh air for those of us left. Life settled down quite well with Albert gone, though the bad blood between them broke Dad's heart.
Part Three:

Ah, my college years. Met a lot of good people and had a lot of fun! The downside was that Albert, coincidently, had come to the same dorm, so we were again playing mind games with each other. Travis came with me, and he was now firmly the love of my life. But he was not happy there. It was devasting when he told me he had to leave to go travelling rather than complete uni. He loved me dearly, don't get me wrong, but college life was not for him. Travelling was.

In the few years that followed, I dated other people, but it was never the same. Albert, meanwhile, got involved with all the wrong people, the worst of which was a man called Ira. I didn't trust Ira at all, but Albert told me in no uncertain terms where to go when I tried to help, so we parted ways again in not the most cordial of moods.

In the end, I got right down to study and passed my degree amongst the top of my class.
Part Four:
After college, I moved into my own house a few blocks from Dad and Sandy's place. Maddy was now in her early teens, and we became firm friends. But nothing else seemed to go right for some time. Not long after moving in I had a fire, then a burglary, then while I was still reeling from that, my wayward brother came to visit. Surprise, surprise, his association with Ira had got him in trouble. Ira had got him involved in counterfeiting money, and now he had the nerve to ask me to provide an alibi for him if the police called, because I "owed it to him" as his younger sister. I flat out refused.

Though, after hours spent being interviewed by police about what little I knew of his dealings, I had to wonder just what he had gotten himself into. Albert was arrested and charged with more than he could deal with.

While still reelling from all of this, and when I was beginning to wonder how I could cope, a magical thing happened. Travis turned up on my doorstep just when I needed him most.
He was so gentlemanly - he had missed me so much in the years that he had been away touring the world, and he had to come back to see me. He didn't want to step on any toes if I had been with anyone else, but being there helped me no end to get through everything that was going on.

When he asked me to marry him, I leapt at the opportunity!
Part Five:

The lead-up to our wedding was hectic and confused. Albert was brought to trial, and it was then that we realised just how deeply he was in trouble. Ira had set Albert up to be a scapegoat for his own crimes, in case anything ever went wrong. It worked well for him; Albert was on trial for many counts of fraud, theft and counterfeiting, and whilst he was guilty of some counterfeiting, the vast majority was truely down to Ira.

Albert, thinking he knew best and not expecting his so called best friend to betray him, only dug himself a deeper hole. By the time he realised just what Ira had done, it was too late. He was sentenced to 15 years in prison, of which he had to serve at least 10.

Ira had won.

It would be a long time before we would see Albert again. But with that dire mess behind us, it was time to prepare for our wedding.
It was such a beautiful ceremony. We held it at our own house, surrounded by dozens of our family and friends. The next few months that followed were blissful, as I spent much time with my gorgeous husband and my family just up the road. But, it wasn't long before we learnt more of Albert's dark past. One night, one of Albert's college girlfriends, Camryn, turned up on our doorstep. She was not well, and she was heavily pregnant. She had moved in with Albert and Ira after college, blissfully unaware of Albert's fondness for all blondes such as herself.

Left alone in her house at the start of her pregnancy, as Albert was in prison and Ira had fled into the city somewhere, it wasn't long before the repo men came. Since then she had been on the street, half-starved and in very poor health. Finally, she came to us out of desperation, not knowing how we would react.

We took her in, but with a sad ending. Camryn died in childbirth. It really hit home for me, as I was beginning to suspect my own pregnancy. And so, Lachlan came into our lives, and we loved him dearly. Travis and I took him in to grow up with our own child once he or she arrived.
Part Six:

Our family had grown to include Lochie, and 9 months later, it increased again with our own daughter, Lily. We doted on both of them and, despite our apprehensions, the kids loved playing with each other.

Poor Lochie, however, was never an entirely well kid. It was probably because of his mother's terrible physical health when she was pregnant, and we were forever making trips to the doctor and hospital. The one good thing that came out of this, however, was that we became firm friends with April, our family doctor.

Over the years that followed, as the kids started school, Lochie was constantly battling random illnesses and colds. It was a hard blow to take, when Lochie was about 9 years old and we discovered that he had leukemia.
Part Seven:

Lochie was admitted into the child ward in the hospital downtown. It was there that he met his two firm friends. Amanda was another leukemia patient, so it was wonderful for Lochie to have another child there who knew what he was going through. Joseph, the other boy there, had recently lost his parents in a car crash which had left him a paraplegic. Having Amanda and Lochie there, determined to make friends, was one of the things that eventually helped to bring Joseph back out of his shell.

The chemotherapy Lochie went through was bad and made him very sick, and he fretted about losing his hair. It was a rough time for him, but the hospital did what it could to cheer the kids up whenever they were well enough. Eventually, we got the great news that the chemo was working and the cancer decreasing, so Lochie could go home between chemo sessions.

We hadn't realised through all of this just how much time had passed as the kids grew up, so it was a big suprise when Albert appeared on our doorstep.
Part Eight:

Albert had served his ten years in prison, and he had been released on strict conditions without having to serve the final five years. The time away had changed him, as he had had a lot of time to think. He was determined to make amends for all that he had done and start afresh with his life. It was a heart-wrenching moment for him to meet his son for the first time, and be confronted first had with what Lochie had been through, knowing that he had not been there for him.

Albert even went and made up with Dad. Dad had never given up hope that his son would go back to him. It was wonderful for both Albert and Dad, who was now quite elderly, to have the opportunity.

We let Albert stay with us until he found his feet. He got a job, and spent a lot of time getting to know Dad again.

This didn't come a moment too soon for him. Dad passed away a couple of months later, as old age caught up with him.
We all took Dad's death hard. Maddy, now at college, came home to stay with Sandy to look after her during this sad time.

Travis was also badly affected by his death. He had been close friends with Dad since we were in school. Travis was distracted, then, when he shouldn't have been. One night not long after Dad's funeral, Travis was repairing our computer without paying enough attention. I was distraught when I heard the sound of electricity and ran in to find Travis slumped in his chair. Albert ran to call an ambulance, and he was whisked straight to the hospital.
Part Nine:

Travis was very lucky. The shock had knocked him out for a day or so, but after a few days at the hospital he was well enough to return home. He was meant to take it easy for a while, but I'm not sure how well he stuck to that!

We received more fantastic news at the same time. Lochie's latest tests had shown that the cancer was in complete remission! He no longer needed chemo, although the doctors would keep checking over time to make sure that it didn't come back. We threw a big party to celebrate, with Lochie and Lily's friends and family. Lochie could begin a normal life again!
After the party had finished, I was suprised to find Maddy crying in the dark. When we sat down, she opened up to me and admitted things that I could not believe I was hearing.

University was not going well for her. Instead of studying as she should have been, she was partying hard. She rarely went home with the same guy, and she suspected that her current boyfriend, Serdar, was mixing with the wrong people. She was about to be thrown out of the university for consistantly failing her subjects, and she was beginning to suspect that she was pregnant. She did not know who the father was.

I could not believe any of this. Still, after she plucked up the courage to tell her mother, Sandy, we came up with a plan. She dropped out of college, and we found her a house around the corner from Sandy's to live in. She would have plenty of family around to help her look after the child, and being back at home again would help her get her life back on track.
Part Ten:

Albert had been working at a local cafe, serving coffee. He had been going quite well there, but it wasn't to last. The local police, keen to explain a recent crime wave, saw the recently released convicted criminal living on their patch as an ideal scapegoat. Albert's mistake was letting his temper get the better of him. He was trying to make an honest living and get on with his life, but they weren't going to let him.

His arrest was dramatic and caused quite a stir among the cafe's patrons. His new lawyer, Elizabeth, successfully ensured his release again, but it still cost him his job. Despite the fact that he was innocent, it was publicity that the cafe's owner could not afford.

This still left Albert with a dilemma. He wanted to seduce his beautiful blonde lawer, but on discovering that there was someone else in his life, he did not know what to do. The old Albert would seduce her anyway, but now he was not sure that he wanted to go back to those ways again.
It was Elizabeth's gardener who helped him to realise what it truely was that he wanted now. She sat with him and let him know a few home truths about Elizabeth's own habits. It helped him to see that Elizabeth, or any random conquest, was not what Albert wanted or needed now. Rather, he needed companionship.

Still, from that moment on Albert was smitten with the gardener, Ericka. He wanted to get to know her as a person, which he had never previously felt any desire to do for his previous girlfriends. If he was to start a relationship with her, he wanted it to be one that would last.
So, he took a giant, courageous step - on their second date, he told her everything about his past, including how he used to regard women, his prison sentence and why he was there, and what had happened to Camryn and the circumstances of Lochie's birth. It was a big risk, as it could have ended any hope he had with Ericka there and then. But, he did not want her to feel like he tricked her in any way, or kept such important information from her.

But, it was the right move. Ericka appreciated his honesty, and could see that Albert was trying to change for the better, both for himself and his son, by admitting all of this. She wanted to be with him and help him through all of it, and from then on the pair were inseperable.
Part Eleven:

The kids were growing up so quickly! We held a joint birthday party for them, which was a big success. Amanda and Joseph were able to come - the four of them had become such good friends and were rarely seen apart when they were at school.

The party had other good outcomes as well; Ericka began chatting with Maddy, who's house had a big, empty yard, just waiting for someone to landscape. Ericka had always dreamed of running her own nursery and landscaping business, so when Maddy agreed to let her design her garden, Ericka was in seventh heaven.

The garden was completed in time for the arrival of Maddy's daughter, Christy, who won everybody's hearts the moment she came into the world.
Maddy, meanwhile, was keeping some bad company of her own. Albert and Ericka paid her a surprise visit one afternoon, in time to see the last person in the world that Albert had ever wanted to see again. Maddy's boyfriend Serdar had brought a friend over. It was Ira.

It took every ounce of self control that Albert had, not to storm in and punch Ira's lights out. Instead, rather than get Ericka involved, he came and told Travis and I. If Ira was there, it was bad news, and the bubble-blowing machine they could see through the window was not a sign that she was looking after herself.

We tried our best to warn Maddy of the dangers of who she was associating with, but with no luck. We spent a lot of time at her place, playing with Christy and taking Sandy across to visit, in the hope that Maddy would wake up to what Serdar was doing to her. It only resulted in a strained relationship between us as Maddy would not hear anything said against Serdar, who she insisted was looking after her and loved her.
Time wore on, and Albert's life took a big turn for the better. He found work as a manual labourer on building sites, and he came up with a plan.

He had found a place that he and Ericka could turn into a nursery, for her to run her landscaping business from. And he thought that, maybe, she would want to do this with him as his wife.

Ericka was astounded, and said yes immediately. They made each other so happy, and Lochie too, who liked Ericka a lot and wanted his father to be happy.
Part Twelve:

Sandy's death marked a time of big change in everyone's lives.
For Maddy, the last person connecting her to her family had gone, in her eyes. The event caused her to turn to Serdar, and he finally succeeded in taking her away from us.

I discovered that Serdar had a nasty streak when provoked. In the days following Sandy's funeral, Maddy had refused to entertain Serdar's friends. It seemed he was running his own little sordid business. Maddy had been thoroughly brainwashed by him into thinking he had her best interests to heart, so when he took his frustrations out on her, she blamed herself.

Maddy and I argued again about Serdar when I discovered this, and it broke our relationship. Maddy refused to talk to me from then on, and broke off all contact with her family. It devastated all of us, as we could see what was happening while she could not.
Other happy events distracted us for a while as we tried to come to terms with what had happened to Maddy.

Albert and Ericka had made good progress so far with their nursery. The flat upstairs was renovated and they were now living there. Lochie also began spending much of his time with his father, so he effectively now had two homes. With the outside area started, it made the perfect place to hold the wedding as soon as the snow had melted.

The ceremony was followed by quite a big party, so it was into the small hours of the morning by the time Mr and Mrs Wilson were left to themselves!
Part Thirteen:

Time passed, quite quietly for the most part. The nursery was well on schedule for a late spring opening, and it kept Albert and Ericka quite busy. Travis and I even had some time to ourselves again, so for a while we were able to relax.
In contrast, Maddy's life was not going so well. A chance meeting allowed us a quick glimpse into what her life had become. She was pregnant again, apparently to Serdar, which she took as firm evidence into how much he loved her.

It was not the case, however. Serdar and Ira were conspiring to make as much money as they could. Their plans had Maddy close to breaking point. When we found her she was not truely aware of what was going on.

The discovery that she was pregnant had infuriated Serdar, who had reacted in his usual way. Out of desperation she had cut her hair, so that maybe Serdar would stop and realise what she was going through. It did not have the effect that she hoped, however.
We were desperate for a plan to help her, and her daughter Christy. It almost felt like we were betraying her when we decided to get the social services involved, but we needed Christy to be safe and if taking Christy ourselves was the only solution, then we had to do it.

Help came from an unexpected source. Ira's oppressed girlfriend, Arachna, came to our aid. After years of following Ira and being kept in the background, this was the first time that she had been confronted with the effect their dealings had on others. She was not happy, and my respect for her increased no end when she decided to do the only thing that she could about it.

She knew enough about both Ira and Serdar's pasts to get them both sent to prison for a long time. In the process, however, she would be incriminating herself and would likely suffer the same fate. But she could no longer stand by and watch Maddy's life being destroyed, so she made the monumentous step of doing something about about it.
Part Forteen:

When the time came, a small army of helpers arrived at Maddy's place, each with their role to play. Lochie and Lily were to take Christy back to our place and babysit, out of harms way. Albert and Ericka then accompanied Arachna to the police station. Arachna would confess to her crimes, taking Ira and Serdar down with them. Albert was to finally tell his side of the story about what had happened to him, to support what Arachna said. For the first time, thanks to a recent change of staff at the police station, Albert was listened to and sympathised with.

The rest of us remained at Maddy's place. She had gone out with Ira and Serdar, and Arachna knew where to. The plan was that once Arachna told her story, the police would go and arrest Ira and Serdar, and bring Maddy back home to face the social worker with our support. We waited for most of the morning. Albert returned, as he had finished his interviews for the time being. Arachna had been arrested and charged, and so far so good.
Like many good plans, though, this one backfired. Ira, Serdar and Maddy had changed their plans, and instead all three returned to Maddy's place. The police raced to get there, but not before Albert's frustrations finally came to the fore, especially having just spent hours reliving his past. When the police ran in, Albert and Ira were in the middle of quite a fight in the corridor. Both were arrested.

Albert spent the night in the police cells, before being charged and bailed the next morning. Beaten at last, this was Ira's one way of getting his own revenge on Albert, who now had to face trial for assault. Albert was verbally chastised by Detective Cunningham, who genuinely was trying to help Albert, before being left to the wrath of his wife.

This was also a large blow for Albert's future plans. When he had previously been released five years before his sentence finished, one condition was for his good behaviour. Being arrested again might mean that he had to finish the remaining 5 years of his sentence.
Maddy, though devastated that she could not get Christy back until Social Services deemed it safe, had made a big step towards recovery. After long discussions with Nicole, the social worker, Maddy had agreed to go into a rehabilitation clinic.

I was so proud of her. It was the step that she needed to take now that Serdar and Ira were gone, and with a lot of hard work on her part, she could have a normal life back again.
Part Fifteen:

Albert pleaded guilty to the assault charges at his court hearing, partly because there wasn't any point trying to deny them with all the police witnesses, and because it indicated to the court that he was willing to take responsibility for his actions.

It apparently helped; although he was sentenced to three months in prison, the judge was prepared to wait until the outcome of Ira's trial before deciding if Albert should complete the remaining part of his previous sentence. He also allowed Albert to be released on bail until after this decision was made, giving him breathing space and time to set his affairs in order first.

This gave added incentive to finish the nursery so that it could be opened before Albert went away. With a lot of hard work, it was done and the opening day had arrived. The nursery was a huge hit with the local gardening scene as people flocked to see it. Ericka was in her element, offering gardening advice and winning customers' hearts.
Maddy's rehab clinic invited me to come and visit and participate in a group session after Maddy had been there for some time, regaining her health. They had invited the close family members and friends of several of their current patients. They asked me to talk about how Maddy's addiction had affected myself, and our relationship, as addictions never only affected one person.

I didn't know how to begin, but once I had I couldn't stop. I told Maddy everything about how her addiction had made myself and her other family members feel, and just how close it had come to destroying our friendship. Maddy was astounded; her addiction had affected how she had seen the world, so much so that she had no idea about any of this. As far as she had been aware, we were still OK.

The session had big benefits for both of us, as I got a lot off my chest, and Maddy made a stronger resolve to recover and get back her old family life.
Part Sixteen:

The three trials of Arachna, Ira and Serdar became one big blur, and looking back it is hard to remember which was which. Arachna pleaded guilty to all the charges laid against her, and was sentenced to 7 years in prison. She could be released after 5 of those.

Ira and Serdar, however, both pleaded not guilty, so their trials became a parade of witnesses in front of the jury. I received a new-found understanding of what my brother had gone through after being cross-examined myself. The defence treated me as if I was the one who was lying and on trial, rather than Ira and Serdar. It was awful, but I had only been treated like that for the better part of an hour. Albert had been treated like that since he was first arrested all those years ago.
The guilty verdict was handed down for both Ira and Serdar, so it was the cause of much celebration among us! Serdar was sentenced to ten years, and Ira to twenty. We all went out for an expensive dinner, and it was the most relaxed I had seen Albert for a long time. With so much off his shoulders, it seemed that the only time he was more relaxed and happy was at his wedding.

It was a wonderful dinner, and we all thoroughly enjoyed it before allowing Albert and Ericka to head home for their last night together for a while. Albert was to begin his own 3 month sentence the next day, but whilst hearing the judge's final decision, Albert was formally cleared of his previous wrongful convictions. It was a bitter-sweet victory for him as he again headed back to a cell.

At least this time he had the love of his son and, as we recently discovered, his pregnant wife to look forward to! Another shot at fatherhood was to be his next big adventure when he was released!
But, in the meantime, we had another new arrival immenant.

Maddy was allowed to go home from the rehab clinic, and shortly after she gave birth to a son. Bryce Wilson had entered the family!
So, that's where we are up to! Part Seventeen is being uploaded at the same time as this story, so if you want to find out what happens next, go and find it!

Oh, and as numerous people have asked when I'll be growing old. Well that would be telling. But, I am now about 45 years old, and as the wonderful world of the Sims doesn't have a middle age and I don't want to be a hunched over, greying old woman just yet, I'll be looking like this for a while yet. I've heard our director, Thea Didia, is going to be trying to find a way of making me look a little closer to my age, though! I wasn't entirely happy to find that one out!

Lily and Lochie are very close to going to university, so they are at the end of their teenage years at the moment.

Happy reading, everyone!
