Yup, that's me. Sweet, naive little Makenzie. I wish I knew then what I know now, maybe I wouldn't be in this situation. But it's not his fault, I can't blame him...he feels terrible. Maybe I should back up a bit and explain myself. I'm Makenzie Monroe. Rich girl from the right side of the tracks. I never did care for the perfect way of life so I decided to strike out on my own. Maybe it wasn't the best idea but then again hindsight is always 20/20. I'm Makenzie Monroe... and I'm a Vampire.

Maybe I should back up a bit and explain myself. I'm Makenzie Monroe. Rich girl from the right side of the tracks. I never did care for the perfect way of life so I decided to strike out on my own. Maybe it wasn't the best idea but then again hindsight is always 20/20. I'm Makenzie Monroe... and I'm a Vampire. At first it wasn't that bad. The crowds at the Card Shack were pretty low key and I became a regular, making friends and winning money. But that was during the daytime. Once dusk broke it was another story. It's where I met my best friend, Sebastian. He warned me that a place like that wasn't the right place for a girl like me. Of course I ignored him. Probably not the best idea. I seem to be saying that a lot these days. I saw him from a distance one day and I just knew there was something about him. I needed to know him better. He was the infamous Count... I couldn't resist. Of course we hit it off right away. We would go out every night and weeks later I would still get those little butterflies in my stomach when I saw him. Sometimes he could be a little crazy... he'd get this look in his eyes and he'd start acting weird. Usually he would leave at that point and I wouldn't hear from him again until the next night. He would always apologize and make some excuse. I believed him, I mean why wouldn't I? He seemed sincere and didn't seem like he was in control of his own mind. I figured that must be what it's like to be a Vampire. He asked me one night about Sebastian. He wanted to know if we were dating. I told him that Sebastian was my best friend but there was nothing else between us. I figured I'd take a chance and I told him that it was him that I cared for. Needless to say that was the answer he was looking for. We went out to dinner that night and I toasted our new love. That was when he said he had a confession for me. He said he didn't always feel like he was in control of himself. I told him I knew that already, but he told me he wasn't done. It was like something had taken him over occasionally and that there were times when he would wake up and he couldn't remember anything from the night before. He'd been told by the Gypsy that he was evil and he'd hurt too many people and that she wouldn't help him. He never knew why; he said there was no way he would ever hurt anyone. I guess it was his way of telling me that I could get out now if I wanted. I didn't. I would be by his side until the end. I was getting cocky and whenever I went out, people knew it. I was dating a Vampire, no one would dare mess with me now. He was so much fun to be around even if he was a little crazy. I mean, that's why I decided to go out on my own, isn't it? To be a little crazy sometimes. I never told Sebastian. He never would have understood. Being in love with a Vampire was unheard of, even in these modern times. I felt bad keeping secrets from him, but what could I do? I wouldn't betray my heart. One night at dinner I figured I'd take my chances. I asked him if he'd like to come back to my place. He said he would love to. Our first kiss was amazing. There was nothing else that mattered, only us. I didn't care what might have been going on with his blackouts. I would be here for him. I loved him. We talked and cuddled all night. For the first time in a long time I knew I was where I belonged. I was totally in love... and I knew he was too. Things started to get a little steamy from there. But then it happened... he started acting strange again. He got up and started speaking in a different language and he got that crazy look in his eyes. I went over to him and he came over to me with this funny glow around him. I thought he was going to kiss me... so I let him. Then it happened. He bit my neck; how could this be happening? I was going to be a Vampire too! I must have passed out for a few seconds because I don't remember much. Next thing I remember is being in the air in pain with him cheering in that strange language he was speaking before. I was so scared. He felt awful. When he saw me crying, his trance ended. He started crying too, trying to console me. He said he didn't know what happened. He was afraid for another reason too. He explained to me the myth about the Elders and how he thought they were the ones controlling him. He said that I needed to get out of here, that now the Elders know about me, and they'll come for me next to control me. He told me about a commune of other Vampires living in an old abandoned Church. He told me I should go there until I hear from him again. He said he wouldn't be able to see me there until I was able to convince the others that I am trying to start a revolt against the others. Go now and wait for me to contact you. I love you and please, be careful. I knew this was the hardest phone call I would ever have to make. I couldn't risk hurting Sebastian too. I knew that whoever controlled the Count would do it to me too. I told him I could never see him again. I don't think he accepted that... I just hope he doesn't do anything stupid, like come looking for me. It was time to go. I would miss my home and my old life, but most of all I would miss the Count. I was afraid. I didn't know what the rest of my life would bring. I will just have to take it one step at a time. We needed to challenge the Elders, whoever they were. We needed to stop their tirade and stop them from ruining people's lives. I would help the Count with that and once we've succeeded, we can be together... for eternity. That's the end of part 2. In part 3 Sebastian and Makenzie will meet up again and join forces. I hope you enjoied it!!
