The story of Jade and Pheonix.

The story of Jade and Pheonix. I decided to try an autonomy challenge- meaning that I would give them a fully furnished house, and let them live out their lives with little to no interference on my behalf. I created two parents, Katrina and Damien, and gave them twin toddlers, Jade and Pheonix. Oh, and a little dog called Tilly. Was that a bit cruel? No, thinks I, the naive simmer, they're two competent adults, I'm sure they can take care of two kids. I made Katrina a family sim and Damien a fortune, two aspirations who generally dote on the kiddies like crazy in my experience. However, I found that these two were no ordinary sims. Will this family survive? Read on to find out! Their very first act as parents is to go straight inside, leaving poor Jade stranded outside. As you can see, they're proving to be very competent already. Ah, how sweet. The dog at least isn't ignoring her. 'We have each other Tilly!' Look at that, the first dog I've ever seen who looks happy in a toddler's arms. These two are gonna be firm friends, I can tell. Katrina! What am I going to do with you? I don't care if you're the next Mozart, get off that piano and take care of your kids! And she's the family sim too! 'Hey, I'm hungry too buddy!' Damien seems to prefer to feed his own face rather than the three dependants in his care. Aww, Pheonix, it ain't that bad. Wait, they've put you in the pink crib, it IS that bad! 'Took you long enough Daddy'. And it did too. I'm starting to regret making him a neat sim, as he chose to wipe the counter down rather than tend to his hungry, dirty son. Decided you'd prefer NOT to have that visit from Child Services eh? Good choice. From where I'm sitting though, it seems not to be a question of if but when. We'll just have to see. It seems Jade's getting hungry again too. Mmmm...yummy... She actually had to ask him to change her diaper. What kind of a parent is that? Poor Jade is reduced to drinking from the toilet. No, hang on, she's just playing with it. Haven't I bought you enough toys? Do my eyes decieve me? Are they both actually coming in to take care of their children? Is there hope for survival yet? Yes! Damien is actually giving Pheonix a bath, of his own accord. Guess he got sick of the smell, :P. And Katrina is giving Jade some much craved attention. Things look like shaping up. Hurray! Maybe they're not quite as incompetent as I had them pegged to be. Although the place is rather a mess. Two clean, non-smelly toddlers play together and share some pine flavoured cuisine. And look, dad's even come to watch, all on his own! 'What's that giant green cloud on Mummy?' Pheonix seems to wonder. 'Oh Daddddyyyy....' Get off your butt and look after her Damien! Oh, I see, you're watching that dance channel again, aren't you? Hey, if you want a clean house Katrina, you're going to have to clean it yourself. You're getting no help from me. Finally, it's come time for our little babies to grow up. They're actually wearing clothes for the first time since their arrival. 'Look at us! We have hands!' Yes...well observed there kids. 'At last, we can reach the fridge! No more relying on our parents for sustenance.' That's the spirit. Aww....look at that! The very first thing Jade does is run off and clean up all the spoiled bottles. And she's not even a particularly neat sim! I'm gonna like this girl, I can tell. And Pheonix plays with the dog. On the road I might add. Out with the old, in with the new. I really like the way everything matches. Decided I'd better bend the no interfering rules a tiny bit and get Damien a job, so the family will have an income. I won't be helping with promotions though, he'll have to work for those himself. It's your own fault you're tired, did I tell you to play on the road with the dog all night? That's it Tilly, because the middle of the road is just the perfect place for a rest isn't it? Does this whole family have a death wish or something? Uh oh. Take one guess what everyone's main fear is right now. A skunk getting Tilly. Never mind. Katrina copped it instead. Aw, come on Mr. Skunk, she just wanted to be friends. Poor Tilly's so hungry she had to knock over the garbage can to get some food. She even tried asking a walk-by neighbour to feed her. The skunk looks like he wants some too. Damien and Pheonix were so exhausted after work and school they both went straight to bed. I don't think Pheonix has been assigned his own bed yet. How sweet that he decided to share with his dad. At last! The poor little thing nearly starved! I was so tempted to intervene. Two sleepy heads. Tilly may as well have Pheonix's bed, he's a little night owl anyway. Ah look, it's a friendly local wolf. I'd be careful if I were you though Damien.... Off to school again. There's their homework from yesterday. Tilly has an ear for music. She ran out to greet the mailman! What a good dog. 'No! Take me with you!' Hmmm...interesting things to be seen through the telescope, eh Pheonix? Aw, how sweet! Pheonix is actually in his own bed, and his dad has come to tuck him in. 'Um, mummy, is there a reason you're putting your breakfast on your stomach?' Jade wonders. I wonder about your mother sometimes too Jade. Told ya he's a night owl. Hey look, it's a flying horse! But where are the horsemen? So far we've been lucky and there haven't been any fire problems with this family. Just the occasional burning. It's ok Katrina, it'll still be edible. Hope you like your meatballs well done! Awww...the first romantic interaction those two have performed all game! What a happy family scene. Don't you feel like a peeping tom watching from this angle? The wolf has come for a return visit, and Jade's a bit more wary of it than her dad was. Eh? Guess first impressions don't last. The homework piles are growing; and they're certainly not showing; any signs that they are going. Poor Pheonix crumples his report card in disgust. Well, do your homework and you'll get better grades, won't you? Poor Jade isn't too thrilled about failing either. I'm considering 'helping' them do at least one day's homework. There ya go kids. That'll at least keep the social worker at bay. Aww... The first time that the whole family have all been asleep in the early hours of the morning. A momentus occasion. At last it's come time to grow up, and not a moment too soon either! And there we have it! Our innocent little toddlers have survived to become two independant teens. 'Congrats bro!' Jade exclaims. And this is where we'll leave them. That's right Pheonix, by some miracle the social worker never did take you away. I'm even more astounded than you, believe me. Yes, I'm in need of a good holiday too Jade. The End. Ok, can I go back to cheating now?

Making it through on a wing and a prayer!

In answer to Katrina putting the plate on her stomach, it kinda got stuck to her hand as she was talking and she started waving it around with her arms :P. The kids came so close to being taken due to bad grades- so I had to let them do one days hw. I wasn't losing all my hard work over one measly thing \;\).
