This is the third part to Child of the Night. The first and second part is in my profile. Well it was late one night after our final planning that Prudence went into labor in the backyard. We all rushed out to her screamings shocked. None of us had witnessed a birth and didn't know what to do. She had a healthy beautiful boy named Eric Tylor. He was the sweetest thing I had ever seen. Prudence was the best mother in the world. She doted over her son constently and never left his side. The night had finally come to turn the other vampires back to humans and I was outside the house taking Prudence's place. "Grandpa, I'm so nervous are you sure this will work?" "Of course it will work," he said gruffly. We went inside and I got out our glasses and drinks. "To a beautiful new friendship with our neighbors!" I toasted. We drank then waited. The first girl we watched finished her drink then smiled. A couple seconds later her smile changed to a grimace and she cried out in pain. Her body started twisting and there were odd purple sparks emitted from her. My family stood back terrified she was going to attack one of us. Then the rest of her coven started twisting and a purple haze was engulfing them too. When it stopped the three of them were back to normal. We left quickly satisfied that nothing terrible had happend. I was last to leave, but as I was going I heard someone behind me. It was another vampire. I was shocked nobody had thought that there was a forth girl. "What happend here?" she whined, "Where's my coven?" As she spotted the humans she grew angry and started yelling. "You! You did this to my coven. I can't believe you would try something like that! You wait I shall get revenge for my coven." With that she changed into a vampire and took off out the door. When I got home I was disraught. If I hadn't been so slow to leave that one vampire would never have seen us or known what we did. It was all my fault. A week later we heard a knock on our door as a girl entered. We went to greet her interested in the new stranger. "Hello my name is Wanda," she said, "I came here because I heard that this was a safe place for lone vampires." Suddenly she started sobbing. "There were these vampires, they took my baby girl with them. When I tried to go after them they bite me. I tried to follow them, but I was so distracted by the pain from the bite I couldn't concentrate." "There there it's okay. We will let you into the house, and look for your daughter if you want," my grandpa told the poor woman. I felt so bad about for her, but something was strange. For some reason I didn't quite belive her story. As I gazed at her I grew worried. What if she was the vampire we had missed from the coven? It had to be her I knew it. I took my grandfather into the next room and told him everything. About the one vampire we left and my feelings about Wanda. "I think you are being too cautious," he said, "Wanda is obviously sad over the loss of her child, and I don't think she made the story up. Just because this happend you can't throw out every vampire in need." I accepted my grandpa's explanation, but rarely left Wanda alone. Something about her made me edgy and I didn't trust her. Too soon Prudence's little Eric grew into a toddler. She loved him even more if that was possible.
