This is my very first story, so any help on how to improve is welcomed.
Meet Arabella, she just moved to Pleasantview after falling for Grant "Mr. Big", the only other person she knows in town is her cousin Kiley.
Meet Arabella, she just moved to Pleasantview after falling for Grant "Mr. Big", the only other person she knows in town is her cousin Kiley. After falling for Grant (Mr. Big) I decided to invited him over for a visit after I got settled into my house.
Arabella, "Hello Grant, it's Arabella. I was wondering if you wanted to come over to my house to visit?"
Grant, "That sounds great, I'm bored out of my mind here. I'll be there in a few minutes."
Arabella, "Great see you then." I loved Grant and I thought he felt the same way about me, he came over to my house to visit and we started chating and then one thing led to another and... ...... A few weeks after what happened with Grant, I called my cousin Kiley to talk.
Arabella, "Hey Kiley it's Arabella."
Kiley, "So what happened with what's his name, Grant??"
Arabella, "Nothing good happened, I let things get out of control. Now he's avoiding me and everywhere I go women are whispering about me behind my back. What should I do Kiley?"
Kiley, "Well I think you should move out of that house and closer to Eric & I."
Arabella, "You mean live in the suburbs??"
Kiley, "What's wrong with that? The women of downtown don't hang out here so they won't bother you as easily."
Arabella, "I'll move to another part of downtown for now. Has the gossip about me reached the suburbs yet?"
Kiley, "No not yet and I'll call you if they do. Arabella I'm sorry about what happened with Grant, you know that I'm here for you right?"
Arabella, "Yeah I know you are. I better go now and try to find a job here, I'll call you later, ok."
Kiley, "Ok, good luck with the job search." I moved out of my old house and into this small cozy house. I didn't need anything too big right now since it's just me, that and Kiley was right I needed to get out of my old house since everyone knew that I lived there. This cozy little house was available and cheap, so I bought it as soon as I saw it on the realator's website. I started a job search a week after I moved in, but I couldn't find anything that was going to pay the bills. I looked everyday and every place I applied said I wasn't good enough. I finally gave up hope of finding a job, so I started writing a novel casue my cousin Kiley suggested that I do something in my spare time. With the extra money that I had, I bought a some new clothes, and it was time to change my hair. I got tired of it being up in a ponytail so I started styling it this way and I really like it. One night while I was watching the yummy channel on tv my phone rang.... It was Kiley...
Arabella, "Hello..."
Kiley, "Arabella how are you doing?"
Arabella, "Hey Kiley, I'm doing alright still looking for a job. What are you up to?" Kiley, "Not much really. I was about to go to my flower shop, would you like to see it?"
Arabella, "You have your own flower shop? Of course I want to see it."
Kiley, "Great meet me there in a few minutes, it's on the corner of Main & Oak, see you there." After arriving at the location Kiley gave her, Arabella noticed the sign out front said "Kiley's Flowers & More" she waited outside until Kiley came out of the store...
Arabella, "What's going Kiley? You wouldn't have asked me to come out here just to see your store."
Kilet, "Ok, I need another cashier and I know that you've been stricking out with every job you apply for. So I was wondering if you would like to work for me?"
Arabella, "Well.... alright. Sounds like fun working with you every day."
Kiley, "I'm also making you manager of the store, because Barb, Penny & Jasmine have enough to worry about without being manager as well."
Arabella, "You worry too much has anyone told you that?"
Kiley, "Eric tells me that daily. So see you tomorrow then." On my first day working at my cousin Kiley's store I met Nicholas, everyone warned me to be carefull around him. So I think I'll talk to him and let him know that there are some nice people in this town...
Arabella, "Hi, I'm Arabella..."
Nicholas, "Hi, I'm Nicholas. Why are you talking to me? Don't you know that the whole town avoids me?"
Arabella, "I'm talking to you because I'm just trying to be friendly. I know that everyone avoids you but I don't really care what they think."
Nicholas, "Well it's good to see that there are some people in this town that are actually nice."
Arabella, "Well I better get to work. It's my first day and I don't want Kiley to fire me on my first day."
Nicholas, "No I wouldn't want that." After the store closed and everyone went home and the shelfs were restocked, Arabella pulled
Kiley aside to talk...
Arabella, "Kiley guess what, that guy everyone has been telling me to avoid, I actually talked with him this morning.
Kiley, "Why all he's interested in is money and nothing more, he only talks to the rich sims in town, probably because he's a rich sim himself. There are some really bad rumors going around about him and his family, I don't recomend that you talk to him anymore.
Arabella, "I'm not talking to him because his rich or to find out if the rumors going around about him are true or not. He looks like he can use a friend since everyone in town seems to avoid him like the pleague."
Kiley, "Ok Arabella, I hope you know what you're doing." After she got home from Kiley's store, Arabella started thinking about Grant for the first time in weeks. Just before the phone rang Arabella was also thinking about her conversation with Kiley about Nicholas. Was she wrong about him and everyone else right??? Or was it something that Kiley told her about him that got her thinking this way? Scared out of her thoughts she answer the phone, expecting it to be Kiley... but it wasn't.... Arabella, "Hello..."
Nicholas, "Hello Arabella, it's Nicholas. I was wondering if you would like to come over to my house for dinner..."
Arabella, "Are you sure? I'm sure that you've heard the rumors about me."
Nicholas, "I have but rumors are just rumors, if I was worried about rumors would I be calling you? So about dinner?"
Arabella, "I don't know..."
Nicholas, "I promise it's just dinner nothing else." Arabella, "Well I guess there's nothing wrong with having dinner with a friend, right?"
Nicholas, "Right, see you in a few minutes then?"
Arabella, "I'll be there in a few." Nicholas had dinner ready when she got there, he made Lobster Thermidor for dinner...
Nicholas,"So Arabella, why are you working for your cousin instead of having a normal job?"
Arabella, "I'm working for my cousin because I couldn't find a job and she needed a manager for her store. How is it that you live here all by yourself?"
Nicholas, "Well my parents left it to me when they died a few months ago and I haven't found anyone who will say more than a few polite words to me before hurrying away from me."
Arabella, "I'm sorry I didn't mean to pry, I was just wondering is all. It's such a lovely house."
Nicholas, "Well I need to get to bed soon because I have to be at work early, maybe we can continue this another time?"
Arabella, "I'd really like that, goodnight Nicholas." A few days after her dinner with Nicholas, Arabella noticed that she was gaining weight. That's when she started thinking about that one time with Grant, could she be pregnant????? So Arabella started going through her dresser drawers and found some baggy clothes that she could fit into, then went to change her hair yet again. Arabella called her Kiley to talk... They talked for a few hours before Arabella had to go so she could get some sleep...
Arabella, "Kiley I'm not sure why I'm gaining weight, I haven't changed the food I eat."
Kiley, "Well maybe you're pregnant Arabella. Have you seen the doctor yet?"
Arabella, "No I haven't seen the doctor yet, I'll go tomorrow."
Kiley, "Well call and tell me what the doctor says, ok."
Arabella, "Ok goodnight Kiley."
Arabella went to the doctor in downtown, he confirmed what Kiley had been telling her. After coming home from the doctor's office Arabella's belly was showing a small baby bump, so she calls and invites Kiley over for a visit. Arabella, "Well Kiley you were right, I'm about 4 months pregnant with Grant's child. I'm not sure what to do here."
Kiley, "Have you told Grant yet? If you haven't you need to, he has a right since he is the father."
Arabella, "I'll call him after you leave. I agree he does have a right to know but I don't want his help since he's been ignoring me all this time."
Kiley, "How do you think Nicholas is going to react to this news?"
Arabella, "I'm not really sure how either of them are going to react."
Kiley, "Don't wait too long to tell either of them. Even if you're just friends with Nicholas now, it could be a problem if he wants to be with you."
Arabella, "Trust me I don't want to mess anything up with Nicholas, so I'll ask him over for dinner here and tell him then."
Kiley, "Well I better get home, Call me later and tell me what happens, ok."
Arabella, "I will, see you later." So Arabella called Grant and he actually answered the phone...
Arabella, "Hello, Grant..."
Grant, "Hey Arabella, how have you been?"
Arabella, "I've been fine Grant. Can you come over there is something I need to tell you and it's better if I tell you in person."
Grant, "Sure I'll be over in a few minutes."
Arabella, "Ok see you then." Arabella watched Grant walk toward her house with mixed feelings. Not really wanting to see or talk to him at all, but he needs to know about this. Grant, "So what's up?"
Arabella, "You don't noticed that my belly is a bit bigger since the last time we saw each other?"
Grant, "So it is. Have you let yourself go or something?"
Arabella, "No I haven't let myself go Grant."
Grant, "Did you really need to tell me something?" Arabella, "Yes Grant I need to tell you that I'm pregnant with your child."
Grant, "How did this happen??? No don't answer that I know how but I thought we were carefull."
Arabella, "Apparently not carefull enough. Look I thought you should at least know about the child, but I don't want your help at all, ok."
Grant, "Well why not?"
Arabella, "You'll say you'll be here for the baby and then not show up at all, so I'd rather save myself and our child the pain."
Grant, "Fine I'll go, don't ever ask me for anything."
Arabella, "Trust me I won't." Arabella worked throughout her pregnancy on her first novel, she doesn't care if it sells well or not. It's something to do during the long months of her pregnancy, since Kiley put her on maternity leave. A week after she turned her novel over to the editing office she received a call from her editer saying that her novel was selling great and Arabella received a $2,658 simoleon check for the royalties on her novel. Waiting patiently for her child to arrive... wanting the pregnancy to be over soon cause she was always uncomfortable with an aching back everyday. She was glad that she hadn't heard from Grant after the night she told him that she was pregnant. She was feeling guilty for not calling Nicholas to at least tell him why she has been avoiding him, she was feeling ashamed and didn't want to see anyone at the moment. After having her favorite desert, berry pie, Arabella was cleaning up around the house and realising how much see missed just talking to Nicholas. She never did have a second dinner with him since that one, she just told everyone that she wasn't up for company. She decided that she was going to call Nicholas tomorrow after he gets off of work, until then she was going to get a good night sleep. She woke up to call Nicholas and forgot that he didn't get off work until later in the afternoon, so she was going to have to wait unitl later to invite him over for dinner. As she hung the phone up she started feeling sharp pains in her belly and thought something was wrong with the baby, the pains came and went. With the sharp pains coming closer together Arabella realized that she was in labor... Exausted, Arabella held her son Cody.... He took after her in every way but with Grant's skin tone, she gave Cody her last name. She may have thought that falling for Grant was a big mistake but as she held little Cody in her arms she realised that if she hadn't fallen for Grant she wouldn't have Cody. After putting Cody down for a nap and chaning her outfit Arabella looked out the window thinking back to her conversation with Kiley about moving to the suburbs of Pleasantview. The more she thought about it, the more she realized that Kiley was right about moving closer to her & Eric. First she was going to talk to Nicholas about why she's been avoiding him the past few months... Arabella finally called Nicholas on the phone...
Nicholas, "Hello..."
Arabella, "Hello Nicholas. I need you to come over to my house."
Nicholas, "Why? What's wrong?"
Arabella, "Nothing is wrong I just need to talk to you." Nicholas, "Yeah I can come over, just give me a few minutes and I'll be there."
Arabella, "No problem, I'll have some dinner cooked up as well."
Nicholas, "Sounds great, see you soon." After Nicholas got to her house Arabella called him into the nursey, and he just stood there looking at Cody.
Arabella, "Nicholas this is my son Cody. He is the reason for my hiding out, I was too ashamed to show my face to anyone but Kiley.
Nicholas, "You could have told me, we are friends aren't we?"
Arabella, "Of course we're friends, I tried to call you after I told Cody's father about him but I got your machine and a few minutes later I was in labor. I hope you understand."
Nicholas, "What is there to understand exactly, you got pregnant with someone else's child. May I ask who the father is?"
Arabella, "Well if you remember that guy Grant that I told you about, he's the father. I don't want his help which is what I told him, so don't try pressuring him into helping me out."
Nicholas, "I wasn't going to even talk to him, I just wanted to know. I want to ask you something though."
Arabella, "How about over dinner?"
Nicholas, "Alright, what's for dinner?" Arabella, "Lobster Thermidor is for dinner. Now what is it that you want to ask me?"
Nicholas, "Would you and Cody like to move in with me?"
Arabella, "Can I think about it? Cause I just bought a small house on Woodland Drive, and I want to live there for at least a little bit."
Nicholas, "Take your time thinking about your answer, I'm in no rush. I just wanted to offer it to you so that you know that you have some options."
Arabella, "I appreciate that Nicholas but I think that Cody & I will do fine on our own for now. If I do change my mind I'll let you know."
Nicholas, "I'm glad that you called Arabella."
Arabella, "Me too." This is the small house that Arabella bought, it's a five minute drive to work and it's close to good schools. It wasn't long before Arabella made the house feel like she's lived there her whole life, Cody seemed to be happy about everything. Meet Jewelle she's the cat that Arabella adopted, she was a bit pricey but worth it. Jewelle keeps Arabella company when she's not at work, and makes sure the nanny takes good care of Cody. Cute story! My only criticism is how you indicate who is speaking. Instead of writing something like "Arabella, 'What are you doing today?'" you could write "What are you doing today?" asked Arabella. When you do it that way, it helps the story to flow, so it reads better, and looks better. Other than that though, I really liked the story! I'm also really interested in what kind of rumors surround Nicholas and how Arabella will do raising Cody. Will look out for the second part
