As its nearly Valentines day I though I would write a short story to celebrate.
Don't wait until Valentines day to tell someone you love them remind them every day.
Once again many thanks for the custom contents and apologies for all the little gremlins that appear:)
This is just a fun story so don't wish too hard as I don't think there is a Valentine fairy .... or is there!....

This is just a fun story so don't wish too hard as I don't think there is a Valentine fairy .... or is there!.... Alfie had been lying on his bed for hours. It was that dreaded time of year again when all talk at school was , Who are you taking to the Valentine dance, how many cards did you get. Last year he was lucky as he and his family were away.
It's not that Alfie was unattractive or that he was a geek. Its just that he was very shy and when a girl spoke to him he either stuttered or just clammed up completly....
There was one girl in particiular that Alfie liked. Ella. She came on his school bus every day. She would hop on the bus bright and breezy, smiling at everyone. She would always stop by Alfie's seat and say.
" Morning Alfie , you ok today". Alfie would put his head down and just say.
" Yea me, I'm ok".... Yet when Alfie was in his room day dreaming he would imagine that Ella was there with him.
He could talk to her for hours in his head. Tell her his innermost thoughts, his hopes for the future, his dreams.
He was so anxious . "Why can't I talk to her like this in real life " He was so cross with himself.... He began to panic .
He would be the laughing stock of his class when in two days time he had no one to take to the dance.
He shouted out in despair.
"Oh wont someone help me find a Valentine".... The room took on a smoky haze, lights began to flicker and Alfie could see a vision in red in front of his eyes....
Next thing she was lying next to him, as large as life on the bed.
"Hello" she said as if it was the most natural thing to say when you appear from nowhere into a strangers bedroom.
Whooo , who are you" was all Alfie could manage to say "And what are you doing here"
"What do you mean, who am I , You, called me."
"Did I , I don't remember calling anybody" said Alfie.
" Yes I definitely heard you cry out , Find me a Valentine, that's what you said, So here I am your very own personal, once in a life time, Fairy Valentine. You can call me Val".
" I have never heard of a Valentine fairy " said Alfie as he got off the bed, pinching himself to see if he was awake.... "Oh yea of little faith " said the fairy. " Just because you have never heard of a Valentine fairy does not mean I don't exist.
Now then, do you want this girl called Ella to be your Valentine, because if you do there is a lot to be done".
"Yes , yes I do , more than anything else in the whole world , I do".
"First of all we have to bring her here.
Empty your mind of all thoughts. I said all thoughts young man! Now just think of Ella. Think Alfie, think Ella with all your might.... There was a rumble and at the opposite end of the room, Ella appeared. She was a vision in pink and white.... Alfie was overjoyed.
"Hey fairy , I mean Val, I'm sorry I doubted you.
I thought I was dreaming .
Won't Ella wonder what she is doing in my bedroom though".
"No, she is in a trance" the fairy answered" She will think that all this has been a dream. Now hold hands and say this Valentine Poem of mine".... "Are you ready Alfie"

Alfie laughed,
"I can't say that , especially with you looking and anyway that does not sound very romantic to me." Should it not be something about roses and moonlight.
"Are you doubting me again Alfie, say the magic poem before her trance wears off. I am a Valantine fairy. I should know what has to be said . Its important to get all the words right".
Alfie was very nervous. His palms were sweaty , his throat was dry. He was standing here holding hands with the one he loved. If only the fairy would look away. He had to get this right.
"Come on Alfie we have not much time left, say the poem , I promise not to look".
Alfie cleared his throat.
Be My Valentine
Dippy Dippy Doo....
"Noooooooo, I HAVE SAID THE WRONG WORDS"........
The Valentine fairy covered her eyes in despair. For there where Ella had stood was a .... BIRD
A pink and white feathered bird... "Oh Nooooo, said Alfie , what have I done."
"I tell you what you did" said the fairy . You have gone and said the wrong words and turned the love of your life into a bird , thats what you have done."
Alfie tried to make a grab for Ella but she flew up into the air.
"Close the door quickly he shouted before she escapes or worst still the cat comes in".
Yes.... you have guessed right.... The Cat By now Alfie did not know which way to turn should he leap for the cat or close the door before Ella escaped.
There were feathers flying everywhere.... It was too late Ella went out of the door and out into the night sky.... "Dont worry said the fairy running outdoors. I will catch her I am good with birds"
"Here pretty bird come to me" .... She tried in vain to catch Ella.... "Leave it to me" said the fairy . You go and clean up all those feathers then go to bed . I will cast a spell which will make Ella fly home .
Trust me all will be well. Now go Shoo, be off with you"....
There was nothing Alfie could do except go back to his room and wait for morning to arrive. He spent a restless night worring for Ella's saftey.
It was the first time he was happy to get on the school bus. In a few minutes time he would finaly know if Ella was safe. He hoped and prayed that she would get on at her usual stop.... The bus stopped and on jumped Ella . Alfies heart missed a beat. He could barely look up.
Ella was walking down the aisle in the same pink dress that she had worn the previous night.
She was walking towards him.... Hi Alfie , ok if I sit with you this morning."
Alfie looked up and mumbled.
"Yeah, no problem".... Ella sat down beside him.
"Do you have dreams " Ella said , Because I had the most weird one last night . I dreamt I was a bird in your room".
Alfie gulped hard. He did not know what to say " Perhaps you had too much cheese for supper, he timidly replied , and Ella laughed.
Alfie looked up into her blue eyes and all his worries disappeared. Why had he been so afraid of talking to Ella she was gorgeous , she was friendly and hopefully she would be his Valentine.... Alfie shuffled up closer towards Ella . Tell me more about your dream he said as he plucked a feather off the back of her dress.... By the time the bus reached the school gates, Alfie felt as if he had known Ella for ever.
He plucked up courage to ask her to the school Valentine's dance and she said Yes.... It was the night of the school Valentine dance and Alfie walked into the hall with the biggest bunch of roses he could afford. He could see Ella sitting at the table in the corner. He took a deep breath , pulled his shoulders back and walked across the floor. He had written a poem for Ella and was reciting it over in his head....
It seemed an eternity before he reached Ella's table....

Alfie suddenly stopped and remembered the poem Val had told him to say . What if Val was right. What if those had been the right words to say. Oh what the heck Alfie said to himself . I have survived this far , why not...
Ella I have something to say to you.

Tippy Tippy Too.... Ella looked up into his eyes. She had longed for this moment from the first time she had ever met the shy quiet Alfie six months ago on the school bus. Who could have imagined that such romantic words could roll off his tounge....
" Yes Alfie I will gladly be your Valentine".... They spent the whole evening talking about their inner most thoughts, their dreams and their hopes for the future. Alfie would one day tell Ella about the visit from the Valentine fairy, but not tonight.... They walked home and shared their first kiss together . The first of many Alfie hoped.... And the Valentine fairy, I wonder where she is now....
