Hi there , my name is Ruby, Ruby Turner. I'm a bit of a tomboy but that's never stopped me getting on in life. To be honest I have had quite a charmed life. I went through school with ease, loved every minute of university and found myself a good job. One thing that has always been missing was a boyfriend of my own . I've had loads of friends that have been boys , but not one to call my own.

I went through school with ease, loved every minute of university and found myself a good job. One thing that has always been missing was a boyfriend of my own . I've had loads of friends that have been boys , but not one to call my own. This is me at work. Yes, can you belive it this is my job. I work for a big computer gaming firm and most of my day is spent testing and actualy playing on computer games. See, I told you I led a charmed life... Thats Olly on the desk next to me . We went to Uni together and now work for the same firm. We share a house and spend most of our days together... Remember I told you I was a bit of a tomboy . Well I also play football for the local ladies team. This is us having a warm up before the match. Olly is our trainer so he sits on the bench and encourages us. I love all kinds of sport and I think that's one reason Olly and I get on so well . He says I'm the only girl he can talk to about football and rugby... I work out most days... Olly comes with me some mornings... We also try and work out in the evening especially after sitting at our desks for most of the day. This is the house we share . Black leather everywhere and a little on the untidy side, but its home and has been for the past year.. Olly and I get on really well together , always having fun, always sharing a joke. Two good friends together. The day Arrabella came to work at the office my charmed life started to change. She was everything I was not , elegant, feminine and very pretty. Olly and Arrabella were always together talking and laughing. It made me feel funny inside watching them . I had never had these feelings before, could I be jealous of Arrabella. They spent more and more time together and one day she moved into the house with us... The house took on a new look. Pink walls , elegant furniture and flowers in everyroom. I spent more and more time at work as I felt a little bit in the way at home. I arrived home one day to see Arrabela down on one knee proposing marriage (well it was leap year) Olly had a look of surprise on his face but I heard him say "Yes" as I closed the door and went to my bedroom. The following evening Olly took me out for a meal as he had some news to tell me. Did I pretend it was a surprise or did I tell him that I saw Arrabella down on one knee! He told me he had some good news and bad news, so I decided to go with the surprised look. It was all bad news to me. Not only was Arrabella taking my best friend away from me she also wanted me out of the house by the time they were married. The following day I decided to look for a new flat and a new job. Ok I know I told you I had a great job, well the job was great but the money was lousy. If I had to find a new place to live I also needed a job that would pay the rent. Two hours later I was starting to get a headache. It was very depressing , the lack of experience I had was begining to make me think I would never find a job. And just as I was about to give up I saw it . " Wanted receptionist for busy estate agent. Applicants must be stylish , groomed , demure and feminine."
I could do the job no problem as my typing skills were ace after playing games on the computer, although I only used three fingers , I was fast.
But I think I needed a slight make over to fulfill some of the other requirements!

I think a make over is required ... dont you..... I headed off for town and went ino the hairdressers... Caprice understood my predicament and said she could transform me into a proper beauty!.. While I was in town I went shopping for a dress for my interview. Off with the Doc Martins and on with the kitten heels. I think the last time I wore a dress was to my fifth birthday party and even that got torn climbing a tree...

What do you think, will I pass as feminine and demure? I felt pleased with my apperance and if I,m not mistaken I'm sure Olly was flirting with me when I arrived home. He wished me luck for my interview the following day and went out to meet Arrabella... I was a bag of nerves at my interview. Mr Maloney was very plesant and I seemed to be making a good impresion... I was so shocked when he offered me the position and said I could have a three months trail starting immediately... I started work the following morning. I think the other staff enjoyed having an office junior . It was "get this" "go there ", "do this" all day long... I was still there long after all the other staff had gone home doing all their filing. Mr Maloney came into the office as he had forgotten his briefcase. He was surprised to see me there. He asked if I had eaten and when I said I had not he offered to take me for a meal to celebrate my firt day at work... I didn't think it would do any harm so I accepted and anyway I was starving hungry as I had not had lunch and had been too nervous to eat breakfast. He took me to a very elegant resteraunt , I was more accustomed to Pizza houses so was rather nervous about ordering. I need not have worried as Mr Moloney took care of everything. He was very easy to talk to and I ended up telling him all about myself and my flat hunting. He suddenly smiled and said he had the perfect solution. " Problem solved , I have some flats that are empty and empty flats tend to encourage squatters, I could do with someone to flat sit . " Well I was lost for words a new job and somewhere to live in one day, how lucky was that. We finished our meal and called a cab... I felt so excited going to see my new home , I couldnt wait to see what it would look like... I was so surprised when I saw that it was a little cottage not a bedsit as I had anticipated. I said to Mr Maloney " Are you sure I can live here , it seems too nice for me" . I also wanted to know if there were any strings attached , did I have to do anything in return ? He assured me that there was no ulterior motive that I was doing him a favour. He also said that if we were going to be friends I was to call him Tony. The following day I moved into my new home , it was heaven to get sorted and be able to play on my computer again... Later that day Mr Maloney rang ( can't call him Tony) to invite me out to dinner. I had no food in the fridge so I said yes... We went to his favourite restauraunt and he ordered some food. I had made an effort as I knew we would be going somewhere smart. I was begining to wish I had dressed diffrently as I was becoming aware that Mr Maloney was staring at me and I was feeling rather uncomfortable... I was so pleased to see Arrabella , she was there with Olly celebrating her birthday. She seemed to know Mr Maloney . She was keen to join us and asked if the waiter would put our tables together. I felt much more at ease with company and Mr Maloney and Arrabella seemed to get on well together. It was so nice to be out with Olly again . It felt so right , so comfortable... The following evening Arrabella came to visit. I was rather surprised as even though we had shared the same flat we didnt get on that well together. She wanted to know about Tony and whether we were an item, and how lucky I was to have such a rich boyfriend. I assured her that there was nothing at all between us and that I was looking after the cottage as a favour. She said that If I didnt want Tony then there was nothing stopping her going after him. I was so shocked , how could she talk like this when she was engaged to Olly. I tried to reason with her and she pretended she was joking but I could sense that she was lying. Should I tell Olly or should I keep quiet... The following morning I rang the office and made an excuse that I was unable to get in and that I would work from home that day. Something felt wrong and I just could not face seeing Mr Maloney. I also needed to sort out what I was going to tell Olly. Would he think I was lying to him because I was jealous of his relationship with Arrabella, what was I going to do? Later that evening my door bell rang and I was surprised and a little worried to see Mr Maloney at the door. I invited him in. That was my first mistake of the evening. He smelt of alcohol and was a little unsteady on his feet. He kept coming up close and asking me if I was ok . Perhaps I was being paranoid, perhaps he was only showing friendly concern. The next thing I knew he was trying to put his arms around me . I could smell his breath on my face and I jumped away quickly. I was feeling nervous now. Would I loose my job and my home if I rejected his advances... Somehow I came to my senses and I became angry. " How dare you come into my home and take advantage of me , get out now before I call the police" He looked at me, there was no smile on his face and he just shouted " You stupid girl , do you think I was going to let you live here for nothing , take you out for expensive meals and expect nothing in return. Its pay back time." Somehow I found the strength and courage to shout back at him and it was now his turn to step back in shock. I can't remember what I said to him as I was so angry but the next thing I knew he was out of the door, I quickly ran after him and locked it... I was so shocked I broke down in tears. I was so lucky to have escaped unharmed. I could hear a noise in the garden and I turned round quickly to see what the commotion was... He was staring through the window and shouting. "I havent finished with you yet"... I picked up my phone and called Olly , I didnt know what else to do, he said to hold on tight and he would be over... In less than five minutes he was there and I jumped into his arms. I felt so safe. There was no sign of Mr Maloney . He must have thought I was on the phone to the police and had dissapeared. How could I have been so gullable and naive . I went for a soak in the bath while Olly made some coffee... I felt better after my soak and I joined Olly in the kitchen, we talked for hours. I apologised for dragging him away from an evening with Arrabella . He went very quiet and said that Arrabella had moved out of the flat a few nights ago . She didnt seem interested in him anymore and he was begining to doubt whether he loved her at all and whether getting married would be a mistake. My heart missed a beat, was this the right time to tell him about my conversation with Arrabella. I decided to wait. I had enough problems of my own to straighten up in my head first... The following morning I went into the office expecting Mr Maloney to sack me and throw me out of the house. Instead he was very apologetic and blamed the alcohol for all the things that he had said and done. I accepted his apology and said that if he ever pulled a stunt like that again I would send the police after him.
He had decided to take time off work to give me some space and time to forgive him for his unacceptable behaviour.
That day at work went well and I rang Olly to invite him out for a meal to thank him for the previous night... We decided to go for a quick drink before our meal and boy was that a mistake. There was Arrabella as large as life down on one knee proposing to Mr Maloney. My poor Olly was distraught. Oh why had I not told him about Arrabella when I had the chance... "How can you do this to me I thought you loved me" Olly said with despair.
I thought they needed time to sort things out so Mr Maloney and I went up to the bar to give them some space... I left them to talk for what seemed like hours and decided I would go and find them . Olly was sitting down looking quite despondant and Arrabella was standing close by with her head hanging in shame. Arrabella had never loved Olly she was jealous of our friendship and wanted to come between us . She had realised from the start that I loved Olly and deep down without realising it Olly loved me . She had always wanted to marry a rich man and now she had found Tony nothing was going to stop her . She apologised and went to find Mr Maloney to explain her actions... Iv'e moved back in with Olly and we are taking each day as it comes enjoying our new relationship. I still work for Mr Maloney . His behaviour has been impecable since that dreadful night he came into my home. He has even promoted me to manager as he is never in the office now he is married to Arrabella!
 We still work out together and one day while we were out jogging Olly went down on one knee and proposed , well you will just have to guess what my answer was ! I told you at the begining I had lead a charmed life , I hope Olly and I will share a long and charmed life together..... Just incase you were wondering what my answer was when Olly proposed this is what we did twelve months later. It was the happiest day of my life... A Charmed Life...
