A short story to get us all in the holiday mood. All the scrummy yummy lots were made by estatica. Thanks to all the creators for the very festive CC....

A short story to get us all in the holiday mood. All the scrummy yummy lots were made by estatica. Thanks to all the creators for the very festive CC.... It was the day before Christamas and all was quiet at Santa's house.... Santa woke up that morning and felt as if he had been knocked over by a reindeer. He had been out to a party with some friends the previous night. He did not have an ordinary headache that one has after too many brandies . His head felt as if the drummer boy that played in the band had somehow got inside . His mouth was dry and his stomach felt out of sorts. What a day to feel ill! This was one of the busiest days of the year for him ,and he was unwell.

" Mary" he called " Mary come here I'm dying".... Mary came into the bedroom.

"Goodness you look ghastly this morning love. Did you overdo the brandy last night?"

"No dear" said Santa " I think it was the sushi."

Mary decided to give him one of her special massages, she had seen him in this state before and it usually did the trick.... Santa showered and dressed . He thought he would feel better . His stomach pains were getting worse. Oh how he wished he had stayed at home last night.... Mary persuaded him to have a cup of onoin tea, it usually worked wonders for her.
Santa pinched his nose and tried to gulp it down.... " Oh Mary that was revolting, I feel worse now. I think I am going to throw up....
And true to his word he did .

I think this might be a good time to leave Santa , its not nice to watch people hugging the pan! Half an hour later Santa walked gingerly into the toy room holding on to his head . When would the spinning stop .

He summoned the elves together.

" Listen to me" he said trying to speak as sofly as he could. " Due to unforseen circumstances , this year Christmas is canceled. I am not well enough to organise the gift list and unfortunately will be unable to drive the slay tonight . Christmas 2007 is cancelled" .... There was uproar among the elves. " Canceled they all shouted , you can't cancel Christmas".... "If you cancel Christmas there will be no presents , no christmas trees, no fairy lights. You can't cancel Christmas " they all cried.... "Santa there is no need to cancel Christmas . Go back to bed , let the onion tea do its job and you will feel much better". Mary said.

" But who will sort out all the gifts , finish making the toys, there is much to do. The list is endless".

"We will " said Mary, "Leave it to us, you go back to bed".... Mary was calm and collected, nothing flustered Mary.

"Right then" she said "If we want to save Christmas we have a lot to do so lets get on with it".... "You all know what needs to be done . If we want to save the holiday we must work together. We will meet back here at six o'clock .

" We have eight hours to save the day".... It was a hive of industry at the toy shop. The chocolate machine was working twenty to the dozen. It whizzed and whirled. The smell of sweets filled the air.... The older elves finished painting the toy soldiers.... The younger elves sat down and double checked the letters that Santa had been sent. It would not do if someone received the wrong gift.

Tony-- Well this IS a PG13 site so I can't repeat what Tony has in his letter.... String was tied on to colourful kites.... Tyres blown up and brakes and bells checked on bikes.... Books printed and read.... Toy engines tested to see if their lights and alarms worked.... Jack in the boxes cranked.... Teddies stuffed with soft wadding.... The elves worked relentlessly through the day. Checking lists as they went along.... Making new toys when necessary.... Until all the work was done.... Santa slept soundly through all the hustle and bustle.... At six o clock his alarm sounded . Santa jumped out of bed . He could not believe that he had slept soundly through the day. His aches and pains had gone , the onion tea must have worked wonders for he felt as fit as a fiddle.... He went outside and saw all the elves smiling .
"We have done it Santa , we have saved Christmas.
They looked as pleased as punch.... And there in front of Santa were hundreds , nay thousands of parcels all wrapped up and ready to go on their journey into the night.... Santa went into his office and checked the list.
The elves had done a tremendous job .

" Are you sure this is what Tony wants for Christmas, and didn't Pamela get a handsome prince last year? Oh well if its on the list it must be right, the list is never wrong".... All that was left to do was for Santa to practice his "Ho Ho Ho."

His headache had gone and he felt on top of the world... Mary packed some sandwiches and a flask of coffee as she knew Santa had a busy night ahead....

 As Santa sat in his slay surrounded by presents , the snow began to fall. "Perfect" he said . Santa loved this part of his job best of all. He was so glad that Christmas had not been canceled.... Presents were placed in stockings , others by the side of beds. Santa worked hard all night... He was always amazed at the little gifts that were left out for him and his reindeers. And always a little note to say thank you. Such good little children.... Soon his job was done. He made his way back home. Tired and weary after delivering his heavy load, but happy of heart.
He often wished he could stay till morning to see the childrens faces when they woke up and found their gifts.... Home he went to Mary.
A beautiful smell welcomed him home. Mary was in the kitchen preparing a feast .... Christmas had been saved .
Santa , Mary and the elves had a marvelous party to celebrate.... They had their full of turkey and christmas pudding.
Pulled crackers and played charades .
A magnificent time was had by all... Santa could not thank the elves and Mary enough.
They had saved the day. What a miserable day it would have been if Christmas had been called off .

Next year he vowed to stay away from sushi and perhaps the brandy.... * The End*
