Once Apon A Dream.....
"I wish I lived in a real castle!" Cried Karen gleefully as she tried to build a turret.
Jane looked at their dismal attempt at a sandcastle, "Let's dig for buried treasure!" "Great idea!" Cried Karie. She began digging in the sand eagerly. "Ouch!" She cried, she pulled her hand out of the sand to reveal a massive crab attatched to her finger!!! Undeterred, they continued digging in the sand, "Look what I've found," said Shirley, "A shiney pink shell!"
This discovery spurred everyone on. The girls began digging again. Karen was so busy digging for treasure she didn't realise how far along the beach she had travelled. Her friends were just a glint on the horizon. Suddenly a strange sound made her jump up! There was a beautiful white horse stood right before her! The horse neighed again and nuzzled Karen's hair.
"I'm glad you're friendly," she giggled. "Wow! You are the most beautiful horse I've ever seen!" Karen said. The horse was pure white with a silky mane and big knowing eyes. "You look like a fairytale horse," she said, "you could be a unicorn!" "Or you could be the mighty stead of a knight in shining armor, coming to rescue a trapped princess! I wish I was a princess! If you were a unicorn you would be magical and maybe you could grant me a wish?" Karen closed her eyes tight and put a hand on the horses head where a unicorn's horn would be, "I wish... I wish... I WISH... that I was a real princess!" Nothing happened.
The horse nuzzled her again and wandered merrily on its way. Oh well, thought Karen, it was worth a try. She was very tired after her long day and she couldn't wait to settle down in her Cinderella bed and go to sleep. Shirley and Jane were already tucked up in their princess beds... ...and Michelle was fast asleep! Only Karie was wide awake and full of beans! She was bouncing on her Ariel bed and singing at the top of her voice!

"Be quiet, Karie!!! We're trying to get to sleep!" The others chorused. Soon they were all fast asleep. Karen was suddenly wide awake!
Where am I? She thought looking around.
She was on the beach in her nightclothes, in the middle of the night! Had she been sleepwalking?
I must be dreaming, she thought. Then she saw a glimmer of white further along the beach. At first she thought it was the horse again but as she got closer she realised it was a centaur!!! "Hello Karen," said the centaur, "don't be afraid. I'm your fairygodmother!"
"My... my... fairy godmother?" Karen spluttered. "That's right! And I'm here because I know you've been longing for something with all your heart and you can never be truly happy unless your greatest wish is fullfilled! "I wish I was a princess and I lived in a big castle!" Karen cried! "Then I'll grant your wish," replied her fairy godmother, "I love a good, old fashioned wish! Too many of my girls wish to be a pop star these days!" "Oh, thank you, fairy godmother! You don't know how much this means to me!" Karen threw her arm's around her in a big hug! Suddenly there was a brilliant light that seemed to surround Karen and lift her into the air! She felt herself spinning around and around, then the world went dark again. Karen woke up slowly... had she been dreaming? She felt very refreshed, she must have had a good nights sleep! Her bed seemed much more comfy than usual and her pillow was so soft! What was that strange lump? It felt like a pea! Wait a minute! That wasn't her bed!!! Startled she sat up and looked around. She was in a strange room... it looked like a princess's bedroom! And she was wearing a beautiful long nightgown! And she felt different somehow... taller... SHE WAS A GROWN UP!!! Her wish had come true! She hadn't been dreaming, she was really a princess!!! AND SHE LIVED IN A REAL CASTLE!!!!!! I have to check out my wardrobe, Karen thought. Her wardrobe was full of beautiful silky dresses. She picked out a pretty pink dress with bows, perfect for a princess! Perfect! Time to explore her new home! Karen found herself in a big hall where an elderly couple were sat arguing. They looked very rich and were dressed like royalty!
"There you are, Cinderella! The lady cried when she saw Karen, "Why are you wearing your new glass slippers? You don't want to ruin them before the ball tonight!"
"I'm wearing them in," said Karen, thinking quickly, "ummm.... tell me more about the ball?" "Don't tell me you've forgotton about THE BALL!" Boomed the old man, "How could my own daughter be so forgetful? You would think the King's daughter would have a better memory! THE BALL is in honour of YOU my dear! The PRINCE of ARCADIA is coming here tonight and we are HOPING that he will ask for YOUR hand in marriage!" "Don't get yourself worked up, dear" the Queen said turning to her husband. "Of course Cinderella remembers, don't you dear?"
Karen nodded quickly.
"Now there's nothing to worry about, Cinderella, just wear your best gown and be your normal, charming self and the Prince will adore you!" Karen couldn't believe her luck! She was a princess, her parents were a King and Queen! She lived in a castle and had 100 beautiful dresses! Better yet... she was going to a ball where a handsome Prince would be waiting to marry her! What more could a girl wish for? That evening the ball was running to plan. The King and Queen were entertaining the Prince who seemed to be enjoying himself. They were waiting for the princess to arrive.
Suddenly there was a fanfare and a servant announced the arrival of Princess Cinderella! Karen had picked out the biggest, most beautiful dress she could find. As she desended the staircase into the hall everyone gasped at how beautiful she looked... including the Prince! The Queen introduced them and everything was going smoothly until the Prince said, "Of course, when we are married you'll have to live with me in Arcadia and learn the language. And you'll have to learn how to use a spinning wheel, because it's a tradition. Don't worry about your blonde hair... we can dye it red, red hair is a sign of royalty in my country."
Karen was having second thoughts about marrying the Prince, he sounded awfully... BOSSY! Maybe she would feel different when she saw his face? After all it's hard to connect with someone when they're wearing a mask! Perhaps he would pull back his mask and she would look into his eyes and fall madly in love with him!
"Would you take of your mask?" she asked softly, "I would love to see your face!" "Certainly!" Said the Prince. He took off his mask to reveal an enormous nose!!! Startled, Karen gasped!
"Um... excuse me for a minute, please... um... I just have to... um... powder my nose!"
She turned and ran blindly from the room. She found herself on the roof.
Nobody will find me up here, she thought. "Oh, no! What do I do? I can't marry that Prince, he's horrible! I could cope if he was ugly but had a nice personality but he's so bossy! He's mean and ugly! Oh what can I do? If only my friends were here to ask for help!!!"
Karen felt desperately lonely, what good was a castle and lots of pretty dresses if she had no friends to share them with? "Help me, fairy godmother!!! Where are you when I need you?" Far below her came a gentle neigh, she looked down and to her glee she saw the beautiful white horse! "Fairy godmother!" Karen cried, "I'm up here! Wait there, I'll be right down!" "Oh, Fairy Godmother! I don't want to be a princess anymore! I want to go back to my friends! Please help me!"
But the horse just nuzzled her gently and walked off.
Karen covered her face with her hands and sobbed, what could she do? She missed her friends and she didn't want to marry the horrible Prince! The Queen was banging at the window, "Cinderella, what are you playing at?" She hissed, "look at the state of you! Go straight to bed before the Prince sees you! We'll sort everything out in the morning." Sniffling, Karen went to bed but she couldn't sleep. She lay awake in bed, worring about the next day. She began pacing. She had to get out, she had to find her friends. She would have to run away! Karen went outside to look around the grounds, there had to be a way out of the castle! She turned a corner and... ...she couldn't believe her eyes!
"Fairy Godmother!!!" she giggled in happiness. There was her fairy godmother, swimming in the pool, but this time she was a mermaid! "I hope you don't think EVERY white horse is enchanted?" her fairy godmother teased. "Oh, Fairy Godmother! I'm so pleased to see you! I made a big mistake! I love the castle and all my gowns, thank you for everything you've done, you gave me everything I asked for... but I miss my friends. Please... please... PLEASE..... send me back to TSR and all my friends!!!" "I'm glad you've realised what is important," said the fairy godmother, "of course I'll send you back to your friends. And who knows... maybe someday you'll have your castle, your HANDSOME prince and all your friends will be there to enjoy it with you!" She winked. "Oh thank you, fairy godmother! Whatever happens in the future will be fine with me as long as I have my friends!" With a wave of her fairy godmother's dorsel fin Karen was surrounded by a glow of light and once again everything went dark. This time Karen woke up in her own bed! She scrambled out of bed as fast as she could... she couldn't wait to see her friends again. She ran straight to the nursery and hugged all her friends.
"You seem very happy!" Karie laughed!
"Did you have a nice sleep?" Asked Jane.
"Do you want to play princesses?" Shirley said eagerly. "I don't mind," giggled Karen happily, "it doesn't matter if we pretend to be princesses or servents, as long as we're all friends I know we'll be happy!"
And they all lived happily ever after! THE END!
I hope you enjoyed my story... I know it was a bit soppy! And sorry about the spelling mistakes, I wish... I wish... I WISH..... we could spellcheck stories! LOL!!!
