Welcome to the conclusion of our story/documentary. I hope you have enjoyed it thus far and since you have waited much too long for this final volume, I will hand you directly over to Haley.

Welcome to the conclusion of our story/documentary. I hope you have enjoyed it thus far and since you have waited much too long for this final volume, I will hand you directly over to Haley. I could hear Cireking clicking away at his keyboard when I entered the foyer. I decided to wash my face before stopping in to see what he was working on. Good thing too, it was obvious that I had been crying. I wondered why Sabrina didn't notice, or did she? "Haley, come take a look at this," he said as I entered the room. He proceeded to open up a file. "I just finished this new design tonight. It's a modern job. I wanted to use that new Glamour Life series of furniture and art. Actually, I mainly wanted to use all that Pop art." "That's cool," I said. "It looks like a factory. In a good way, I mean." He laughed. "That's what I was after. It's a big home and it's meant to look like an industrial space that has been converted to an art gallery. It has plenty of wall surface space for art collectors."

My mind started to drift as he went on about the new design. I couldn't get Beck off my mind. I felt like a person split in half and the really p'oed half had taken control. I walked around Cireking and stated simply... "I want you to make me over." He turned and stared at the screen without saying a word. I sputtered as I tried to explain. "Well...it couldn't be too difficult...you did such a great job on Malina..." He still didn't say anything and didn't seem too keen on the idea.

"Oh, com' on, why not?" I said, frustrated He got up from his chair. "Haley, there is nothing wrong with the way you look. Why would you want to subject yourself to that." I then explained everything that happened at P.U.R.E. West "If he was blind enough not to see what a beautiful person you are then you really don't need him. Don't make a decision like this when you're feeling upset," he said.
I walked away to sit down because he was making more sense than I. "This isn't something that just came up tonight," I said. "I've always felt this way. I'm a very lonely person and I like making other people happy because I get to live off some of their happiness. I was content with that, but tonight...tonight just blew it all up in my face. ...I want a new face." Cireking sat down saying, "This doesn't sound like you at all. It feels odd hearing you talk about the superficial like this. You can see beyond the surface."

I got angry. "You weren't with me tonight! You didn't have to stare in that smug woman's face as she made it quite clear how the superficial can affect your life. ...My life. And don't you, yourself, deal in the superficial: your homes, your graphics, don't you revel in beautiful surfaces?" He seemed taken aback at first and I felt a little guilty for going off like that.

"Well, there is some truth in that, but those are objects, not people, they have no soul, as hard I try to give them one, they're just things." he said. "Malina has a soul; she's not a thing. You helped her," I countered.

"But people were treating her like one, and as sad as it is, people may still treat her like a thing-- a beautiful 'thing'." I had nothing left to say. I could only sit there.

"OK, ok, I'll tell you what. Go upstairs and get some sleep and we will look at all your options after you have had some rest. Don't set the alarm clock, just let your body take all the rest it needs. OK? "Yeah, let's do that," I said. I was feeling really tired. "Thanks for listening to me rant," I said on my way out.

"Anytime." ... ... I woke up late that afternoon. That bed felt so comfortable. I didn't want to get out. I headed for the kitchen for something to eat. Nothing heavy, I just wanted to take the edge off my hunger. I didn't notice Sabrina and Malina below, sitting in the living room. ... ... I was going to have some cereal, but even that seemed too heavy. I settled for a liquid breakfast. I took in the view. Not much of a view, really. Hey, a tree! Ooh, blue sky! Nice, grass! A bit stark, but calming, I guess. I heard a beep and clicking coming from the next room. "I hope you got some sleep, I said."

"Nope, not a wink. I will pay the price later," said Cireking. "What on Earth are you doing now?" I asked.

"I have a little simulation that I want you to see," he said. "Does this have anything to do with last night?" I asked.

"You guessed it." An image of a girl appeared on the screen.

"Who is that? I asked. "You, if you really want to go through with this."

This took me by surprise. I would have thought he would have collected all kind of reasons for me not to have cosmetic surgery. I didn't say anything. I just moved to the display to look at the simulation. It was a bit surreal to see her there, breathing and blinking, looking around every once in a while. I liked the outfit she had on. "How do I zoom in?" I asked.

"Use that scroll wheel on the right." She... I... looked so young. It was weird looking at her. I could see me in there. The shape of the face, the nose, those were mine. But the features I hated: my dull squinty eyes, my chipmunk cheeks, and my babyish lips were gone. He even covered up my bulbous forehead. "Why does she have blond eyebrows?" I asked.

"That's a little glitch in the program. I'll fix it."

Maybe that's what was bothering me about her. It was at this moment when I heard footsteps behind me. "So what do you think?" asked Malina.

Sabrina was with her and gave me a smile that seemed genuine. "It's very strange to look at. It's me, but not me. She is pretty though." I turned to look at the sim again. If I was going to do this, I should have no doubts about it whatsoever. I don't know why, but I just wasn't feeling it. I love the eyes, I love the mouth, I love the absence of chipmunk-ness, but something was wrong. Perhaps if she smiled more, or if I could see other possibilities..., but I think I would feel the same. I like me, the core of me, and part of what I have become is due to this shell that I occupy--the good and the bad of everything that I have ever experienced. "This isn't me. I can't do this," I said.

I heard a sigh of relief come from Cireking. That made me laugh. "Good!" said Sabrina. "I don't think you need something so extreme. There are better alternatives." "I agree," Malina added. "My case was extreme, and I felt I had no other choice, and even now I feel like I have a big identity adjustments to make. There is nothing wrong with you that would require this. I like you the way you are." "That said, there are other things you can do. I have a cosmetologist friend who is brilliant at bringing out the best of what is already a part of you. I've already made you an appointment," said Sabrina.

"Really?" I suddenly felt very excited about the idea. "When do we leave?" On our way to the car, I apologized to Sabrina about last night and she apologized about not being tactful in her suggestions. We both agreed that it was just bad timing and being tired last night. We rode in Malina's car. Pretty nice and sporty for a sedan and it had very clean lines. She called it an "Audi". Strange name. I asked if we had time to stop by my place. I needed a change of clothes. We arrived at a nice little beauty shop. I have never been one to visit them often. When a special occasion would come up, like a holiday or wedding, yes, but other than that, it's been the mirror and me. Sabrina greeted a lady with blond, hair. She must be Sheila, the owner. She and all her employees wore spiffy white uniforms. "The place looks great. I think you're going to do very well," said Sabrina. "This is the friend I told you about. I would like for you to work your magic on her." "So you are Haley. You're so cute, you've already made my job easier." "I don't know about that, but whatever you can do to deflate my cheeks and brighten my eyes would be greatly appreciated," I said. She led me to the chair while Malina and Sabrina sat in the waiting area. "I would like to brighten up your hair as well, a little redder, a little brighter. I like the cut as it is, do you want to stay with it?" she asked me.

"Yes", I agreed. I didn't want to go shorter, nor did I want extensions. "I really don't want to fuss with it. This is easier to care for." "Alright then, let's begin." ... Hellooo. All right, no wisecracks about my new look. This is as good as it gets, OK! I'm really happy with my decision.

Whew! So much time has passed since this visual blog started and so much has happened. Several new homes have been introduced that we haven't covered. A new dormitory, a profile of CC cars and Glamour Life, and a tutorial on making humanoid Servos--I enjoyed that last one, but those Servos...what a headache! But a bit of bad news, simmers; this little experiment with the visual blog is over. At least for stories, that is. Stories will be separate from the visual blog. I loved being the narrator for the Makeover of Malina, but if you read anymore of our stories, you can imagine my voice if you like. And speaking of stories, we have a new series: University Life!

Heh! [Groovy Citrus didn't stand a chance.] "What was that last part you whispered, babe."

Oh, nothing important, just a little something for the simmers out there. ... So...do you want a little help brainstorming on your novel later tonight?

"Yes, I would love that. You definitely make writing more fun, hon'." ...
