note: the photo editing is different It had been a few months since Adam had last seen Claire. He hadn't
bothered to reach her, see her, or talk to her. He wanted nothing more
than just to move on and forget her. And apparently Claire had felt the
same. She too hadn't bothered to call or try to contact him in any way.
So Adam decided it was alright to go and meet new people. That is when he met Rebecca. They worked in the same area but had
never really got to talking. But one fateful day, Rebecca had asked
Adam out and since then, they've been together. Adam felt sure of
himself around her. She calmed him down and helped him to relax.
Adam never knew he could feel as good as he did with Rebecca. After dinner at some restruant, Rebecca and Adam decided to come
back to Adam's place for desert. "When did you get fish Adam?"
"Oh just yesterday, I had that tank forever but never stocked it."
"haha... well thats just silly. Why would you have a tank and never
fill it with fish?" "Well I have a tank and now its filled with fish."
She gave him an odd look and he returned it back. Then they both
started laughing. "Oh honey! This Layer Cake tastes wonderful... you really outdid yourself."
"Thank you, I worked hard. But I think I got some eggshell in mine."
They both started to laugh but were interrupted by a knock at the door.
"Were you expecting someone?" "Not that I can remember. Especially not
at this hour of the night." "Well go answer it, I'll be here." But just as soon as he got to the door. He knew it not something good.
There before him stood Claire. Darker and longer hair but none the less
it was still her. He didn't want to let her in. He didn't want to see her.
She didn't look him in the eyes. She stared straight down at the floor. Rebecca looked out the window from the table. She saw Claire and
turned to look at Adam who started walking away. As much as she
didn't want to, she knew she had to open the door for Claire. Besides,
Adam was with her, not Claire. She would make sure to make that clear. "What can I help you with Claire? Adam seems to upset to talk right now."
Claire turned around and didn't face Rebecca. It was apparent that he
had moved on, making the news she was about to break to him, and
only him, much harder. "Look Rebecca... I'm not here to get Adam
back if that is what you are thinking. I have something personal to
tell him and only him. Now please, may I enter?" "I guess...." As Claire walked into Adam's room, Rebecca stood against the wall
to make sure Claire stayed true to her word. She was frightened that
Adam would leave her and go back to Claire. Or that Claire was once
again in love with Adam. She felt uneasy about the whole visit. As she entered Adam's room she found him laying down on the bed.
She walked up next to him and stared straight into his eyes as he
looked back up at her. As she stared, a thousand feelings ran through
her. She loved Adam... that had never changed. But was angry that
he was able to move on so quickly. If only he knew then maybe....
"Take a seat Claire. I imagine this is going to take awhile." She walked around and sat down. "Sorry Adam I had to ruin your evening."
"Save it. Just tell me why you are here? And don't start with a sorry."
"Well.... I have some news and it involves you too. And how could
you move on so quickly!? How can you easily forget what we shared?!"
He didn't feel anything towards, he made himself forget everything.
"Because. What we shared was a lie and it was based on more lies."
"But Adam! I love you and I haven't moved on... I can't move on." "Sorry Claire... I don't love you. I have moved on, I have Rebecca now."
"But you just met her! You can't tell me you love her just like that."
"I didn't say that. I feel something for her far different than I ever did."
Claire kept her back to him. She warned herself not to cry.
"Well... if that is how you feel than fine. But guess what?
I'm pregnante with your child. 3 months to be exact. Yep."
She made sure to make her words sting.... Rebecca couldn't hold it in. Adam was going to be a father? What?
That meant he would have to take care of Claire and then would have
to take care of the baby... He would leave her. He would move on.
But what hurt the most was he didn't say that he loved her. It wasn't supposed to happen this way. None of it was supposed to
happen this way. Why did Claire have to be the mom of his child?
They had only been "together" once.... and he had done that in spite.
This child was concieved for the wrong reasons. "Why did you barely tell me?"
"I have my reasons Adam." "Claire, please answer me honestly."
"I wasn't sure if I was truly carrying a child or not." He stood up and was unsure of what to do. He knew Rebecca was listening.
"I.... I need some time to think Claire. I'll call you another day."
"Adam... I need to know now though, will you care for me? And for the baby?
I don't have anywhere to stay now and I need your help. Please Adam..."
"Its time for you to leave Claire. I'll call you another day." After she left... Adam went to go and check on Rebecca.
"You heard everything did you not?" "I did Adam... I heard it all."
"I don't know what to do. I usually would have done the right
thing but now if I do, does that mean that I will lose you?"
"Sometimes the hardest thing and right thing are the same." He pulled her close and held her tight. Not wanting anything but her.
She held him just as tight and soaked in what she could. She took in
his intoxicating smell. She ran her hands through his hair once more
and felt his tears run down her face.... she felt him tremble and cry.
She whispered his name over and over, trying to calm him and herself.

"I love you" That was all for now.
