Read on and Enjoy. :D She looked down. For what was supposed to be a special moment, it
sure didn't come out that way. She felt far more shameful than she
did before "their close encounter". Was it her that only felt like this?
"I want you to know that... that everything I do is because I love you."
He grunted. "Really? And what? you expect me to say that back to you?" He then heard her begin to quietly sob, but trying so hard to hide it.
He didn't mean it. Everything he has said and done in the past few
weeks, he didn't mean. He loved her so much that it hurt him to act
the way he was. But it was his way of coping, hurt her like she hurt him. "Claire. Stop, why must it always come down to this? Why do you cry?"
"Because" she said between sobs, "you know. You know and you made
me suffer like this. Why didn't you just tell me? Confront me about it?
I want to work things out but... I see that you don't want to anymore." "Make YOU suffer like this? What about ME! I'm the one who suffers!"
"But why... why Adam did you not tell me! Why did you act this way?"
"Oh was I supposed to say hey Clarie so you cheated on me right? Or
was there another approach to it? Because please tell me, tell me that
easy way to ask the person you supposedly love if they had an affair." "Adam... please calm down. Let us talk, please. Please Adam."
"What about? How I thought you loved me like I love you. pathetic."
"But I do! I do and I do and I just I need you and I want us to work!"
"If that was so, you wouldn't have done what you did. Plain and simple."
"Adam... I was confused and so upset and I didn't know what I wanted."
"Now you want what you lost. Just leave Claire. I can't look at you." "Adam.. I can't, because I know once I leave, we'll never speak again."
"And what is so wrong with that." He muttered under his breath.
"You have to believe me, I never thought you would find out."
"Oh and that is supposed to make it better?"
"No. Its just supposed to show how I made a mistake and I'm sorry."
He stared fiercely into the ground, trying so hard not to look into her eyes. "Look if I found out or not, the point is YOU never told me. And I think
that by doing that, you ruined whatever we could have gotten back."
"No Adam... please don't say that! I don't want to lose you..."
"You should have thought of that after you were with Him. Just go."
"But Adam, I never knew, I was in pain and confused and it just happened."
"I said leave Claire. I don't want your details or apologies. Just leave." Knowing she wouldn't be able to change his mind, she left as told.
She didn't bother to say goodbye, for goodbye would be too honest.
He watched her leave and knew she was right, he wasn't going to be
seeing her in a long while.... and that was painful to know and feel.
As soon as he was sure Claire left, he looked up and was sadden.
He never thought this would happen, especially not from Claire.
He felt foolish that he thought he actually could trust her, could love
her and be happy with her. She made him feel different from any other
and yet it was ruined in a matter of a careless choice. Sure he could
forgive her and move on, but it wouldn't be the same. His guard
wouldn't be let down so easy as he used to do. Now... it would be
harder to find love, trust, and commitment. Somethings happen for reasons. The following day, his nephew came over and had lunch with him.
He really could use the company, he didn't like being alone a lot.
"So... it was true. Well what I had heard. And well we are over now."
"Really?" he asked surprised, "I didn't think she was of that kind."
"I know right. But you never truly know people, sad to say really."
"Well.. sorry to hear that Uncle but a least you didn't get married
with her. I tell you, divorce can be really messy. But it still hurts."
"Yea," he paused, "your right. I honestly thought she was it ya know?"
"I understand. I would have thought the same thing you did."
"Your a smart kidd, glad I raised you" he teased, "or tried to at least."
"You're such a goof at times. But I've got to head out, work time." He got up and pushed his chair in and said his goodbyes to his uncle.
"Such a smart kid." he thought to himself. Nathan was young but was
one of his closest friends. He was far more mature and wise than most
his age and Adam appreciated that. Especially right now. He must
admit, this is far harder to deal with than he had expected it to be. Soon after Nathan left, he got on his computer to get some work done.
But he couldn't really concentrate. He had such an urge to e-mail
Claire. Or send her something or try to work things out, it was hard.
But quickly he made himself snap out of it. He needed to move on. She felt miserable enough as it was, she didn't need her friend to tell
her what she did was wrong. But yet, she listened on, maybe not
everything her friend was wrong. Probably worth heraring... or not.
"But seriously Claire. Sounds like you really hurt him. How could you?"
She sighed. Nope, not worth hearing or even trying to hear.

way. He was just too upset and didn't want to talk or even look at me
I tried to explain it to him, he didn't want to hear it. But trust me...
if I know him as well as I do. He'll come back to me. Our love should
prevail. If not then... I move on. I can't do nothing to fix my mistake.
McKayla just looked at her. For some reason Claire had a difficult time
accepting that she was at fault here, not Adam. He never did no
wrong. At times Claire was just far too ignorant for her own good.
"Whatever you say Claire. Look I have to go, maybe things will work out." McKayla left and Claire was left alone. The room suddenly felt large
and lonely and depressing. The bright cheery wall color was more
like revolting and annoying. She made a mental note to change it.
She had to face it. He was gone and she was the one to blame. Well it was just an intro. I felt like writing a short story. And this
seemed to feel right to me ya know? And as of right now.... You and Me
is thought about but not written, though I am wondering where to lead
the story into. But yea. As a usual asking, comments/thoughts are nice.
