Welcome to part 2.
Recap: we left off at the passing of Karen and the birth of Olivia. Enjoy.
Recap: we left off at the passing of Karen and the birth of Olivia. Enjoy. As he was sitting, watching his little girl play, he couldn't help but smile and laugh with her. She was so beautiful, so joyful, and so care free. Just being with her made him feel at ease.
He loved Olivia to pieces. It had been about 5yrs since Karen passed away. And a day doesn't go by that Bobby doesn't think about her. But as each day passes, the loss becomes less and less. He knows there is no point in dwelling on the past, especially since there is a little one who needs him here & now. During the first years, Olivia was his only comfort. She gave him hope for a better tomorrow and helped him to keep going even when he didn't want to. So aside from God, Olivia saved Bobby from falling apart. "Olivia! Do you know what day is coming up?"
"My birthday!!"
"Alright, you guessed correctly! What is something you really want?"
"Just one thing??"
"Possibly more... depends how much of a good girl you are."
"Well, I want a really pretty bear, an easy bake oven, and some more toys!"
"hmm... I dont know, I was thinking of just giving you... TICKLE FIGHTS!"
"Not the tickle monster!!" she giggled. As he set her down the phone started to ring and he felt a small shiver run down his body. It was a bad reaction he developed towards phones ever since the phone call he recevied that one night. He answered, talked for a bit, then hung up. It was another person just rsvp-ing for his surprise party. He'd been planning Olivia a small birthday party for about 2 weeks now. Since then, the phone had been ringing constantly with friends & relatives saying they'd come, they'd help, or how they could help. Either way he'd been extremely busy and was thankful the party was only a few days away. As the day arrived, Bobby put Olivia in for a long nap, hoping she wouldn't wake up until everyone arrived. He walked out of her room and pulled out all the decorations and got to work. His parents arrived early to help with the food. His mom cooked, his dad grilled, and Bobby baked Olivia's cake. While he was stirring he began to make a quick runthrough of the guests. "Lets see, my parents -"
"What honey?"
"Nothing mom..."
"My sister, Becca, and her family. Karen's parents, Karen's brother Nolan, Karen's sister Casey and her family, our neighbors, and by Nolan's request 2 friends."
"Oh its good Karen's family is coming. But is Nolan trying to set you up again?"
"I don't suppose so, but- oh darn it! He is, I knew it!"
He quickly realized what Nolan was trying to do, again! A couple months ago, Nolan had set him up with a variety of dates. But Nolan's choices weren't exactly his type. He kept trying to explain to Nolan that these ladies just weren't for him. But Nolan really is persistant and just keeps on trying. When everyone began to arrive, Bobby went to go fetch Olivia and get her ready. "Daddy? why do I have to get dressed up?" "Well you see, I'm throwing a party downstairs and you have to look all pretty." "Is it for me?!" "I don't know.... lets go see what the cake says." "I hope its for me since my birthday is today." He just smiled to himself and went on. While they made their way downstairs, he saw that Nolan's two friends had just arrived. His eyes met with one of them and a smile came across his face. She smiled back but quickly looked away. Even so, Bobby still noticed her face turn into a brighter shade of pink. He chuckled to himself as he was handing Olivia to his mom.
"I guess I still have it..." :]
Although, he couldn't help but notice the way she looked at him.
(A possible interest, I think so!) He searched the crowd, spotted Nolan and made his way over to him.
"Nolan! I see your two friends have just arrived."
"Yea, have you met Ashlen and Jaslene yet?"
"No but I'm sure I will." He said annoyed
"Oh Bobby, I'm not trying to set you up this time but..."
"But.... you are."
"Well okay but just with one, this time, I know you will like her!"
"Alright, then what about the other one?"
"She kinda invited herself, I was a little bit afraid to say no.
But rumor has it, she has a huge thing for you! Congrats man."
"Oh great, another one... just what I-"
"Look, here she comes now." As soon as he saw the person walking towards him, he let out a sigh of relief. He really didn't want it to be the one he met eyes with. Now Bobby wasn't the kind of guy to laugh at a woman, but as she got nearer he couldn't help but try to stifle his laughs, she was trying so hard to impress him and get his attention. "Hi.. I'm Jaslene." She said seductively. "Uh. Bobby." he said.
They continued to talk, but only for a bit, the whole time she kept trying to flirt with him making everything even more awkward. Until finally he felt so uncomfortable, he pushed her away and excused himself. Making sure to walk all the way to the other side of the room. He sat down on the sofa for a few minutes before he realized who was sitting next to him. He turned and faced her. "Hi, I'm Bobby." "I'm Ashlen." she replied quietly.
"I wonder why she is so nervous, usually its me" he thought to himself.
Suddenly Bobby remembered when he first met Karen, he too had been quite shy but luckily she did most of the talking while he just tried to keep it together.... with that thought he pushed aside his nervousness. He stood up, turned around, looked at her and asked "Would you like to dance with me?" She took a pause and then nodded her head. "I'd love to!" she smiled. As they danced, they talked. Not anything in particular, but something to keep whatever was happening, going. So Bobby tried the best he could to make her laugh and make her feel at ease around him. Apparently, she did tried to do the same. But there was another girl who needed his attention and began to get restless. So he picked Olivia up and led her to her cake. "Look daddy, it says my name on it!" Bobby laughed and helped her blow out the candles. He sat her down and watched his little girl grow! And into a lovely little girl she grew! Cake was eaten, presents were opened, people chatted, but slowly the party came to and end. Everyone bid their farewells and left. Bobby wasn't able to see Ashlen out bit managed to smile & wave her way as she was leaving. But something else he hadn't seen was when she logged on to his computer and left him a note. Everyone left except Nolan, who was fast asleep on the couch. And his parents also stayed behind to help clean up. His dad kept Olivia busy while his mom helped him clean. "Did you have a good time Bobby?"
"I did, it was nice seeing eveyone here, espcially those I haven't seen in awhile."
"Oh well thats good dear... so, who was that girl you were all smiles with? What was here name... Adlen? Ashley?"
"Her name is Ashlen but what are you talking about 'all smiles with'"
"Exactly what I said, you spent a lot of time with her and well you were all smiles with her, you just seemed to light up a bit. And well to be honest, it was nice seeing you interact with someone." "Well to be honest with you mom, it was nice being around her. Nolan actually picked a right one this time. She seemed different and very down to earth, kind of like... well Karen."
"Oh I'm so glad dear! Please try to pursue this one, she seems so nice and friendly."
"But I just don't know mom, I'm not sure I am ready for a serious relationship. And what about Olivia?"
"Your whole life doesn't revolve around your girl. Its time you have some fun and try to be a little more carefree. And... its time you let Karen go." He felt sadden after she said that, although it was true, Karen was the main reason he never got involved in relationships. But he was just scared to lose her, lose her from his thoughts... he wasn't ready to let her go. "You know Bobby, I'll be here for you." "Thanks mom, I've always been able to count on that." He hugged his mom tightly and debated to take a chance with Ashlen. Afterwards he tucked Olivia into bed, said goodnight to his parents, and tried to wake Nolan up but decided to let him just stay the night. So he did what he always does, he tucked him in too! "Good night my wittle angel. " "yea good night mommy." Bobby smiled, Nolan truly was a character. Before Bobby went to bed, he decided to check his e-mail, pay some bills, and possibly some other stuff. Just as he moved his mouse, he saw the document Ashlen had wrote on his desktop. He blushed as he read what she wrote. At the end though
"Anyways I had a fantastic time, your little Olivia is quite a cute one. Maybe we could do it again sometime? If you feel like it, just give me a call at: xxx-xxxx Ashlen". He finished, changed, and headed to bed. As he lied there, he couldn't help but not think of Ashlen. Think of what each said, think about how close they were, how at ease they both were able to make each other.... think about how pretty she is....He made up his mind, he'll ask her out this weekend. The next morning after he awoke he still found everyone to be sound asleep, so he decided to make them all breakfast. He thought about yesterday and what he decided last night but began to have second thoughts. What about Karen? Would having Ashlen make me lose her? And again, what about Olivia? How would she take it? Its been only them for so long.... He had been so deep in thought that he didn't even notice Nolan walking into the kitchen.
"Mornin' sir!"
"Huh? oh hey. How'd you sleep?
"Pretty good, pretty good. Thanks for letting me crash, I was wicked tired from the party."
"Yea I'm sure, chatting away Brandie Broke over there, A LOT of hard work."
"You know how I do. Anyways is breakfast ready yet? "So I saw that Ashlen left you her digits?" He said boastfully.
"Alright, fine. I like her and yes you were right and other stuff... your dumb." he laughed.
"I'll take it anyways, so when are you calling her?"
"I don't know. I'm not sure if I even want to."
"You just said you liked her! gahh... men with kids, so complicated."
"Tell me about it." "The thing is, I'm just afraid that Olivia won't take it well, and then there's Karen."
"Yea okay that does make it a little harder but look, I'll watch her and you go, go out and enjoy yourself man, its been awhile sine you have."
"Hey, I do enjoy myself!"
"I mean without your kid, really you have nothing to lose."
"I know, I guess I just like to get her input too. And spending time with her reminds me of Karen, since they act so alike. But I'll go, I do need a break from parent life." After talking with Nolan, Bobby felt more confidant with his decision and felt Olivia would take it well. What he hadn't noticed was that Olivia had been against the wall the whole time. She heard every word and didn't like the looks of things. "Daddy doesn't need some girl, he has me!" She thought fiercely. The week went on and Olivia had forgotten about Ashlen and her dad getting together, that is until she heard him on the phone. He was smiling, laughing, he looked really happy. At first she didn't think much of it until those words came out of his mouth: Alright then on Saturday, bye Ashlen! That was all she needed to know. Bobby had decided to go with Ashlen without even discussing it with her. She quickly ran out of the room and up the stairs into her own room, hoping her dad hadn't seen the tears that were forming around her eyes. Why did daddy need some girl? She was here! She made him laugh. She made him smile. And she was pretty sure she made him happy as well. Was he forgetting all of that? Was he forgetting her? But before she could think anymore, Bobby knocked on her which startled her.
"Hey Olivia! I've got some exciting news!"
"No, go away, I don't want to hear it."
"Olivia? what's wrong?"
"Lots of stuff! Now go away!"
Bobby paused for bit, he really hoped this wasn't about Ashlen... he really wanted to go.
"Hey little one" he said softly, "will you please let me in?"
She could never say no to her dad, no matter how much she wanted to. But right now she could also use a hug from him. So she opened the door and let him in. "Are you alright?"
"No daddy! I'm not alright!"
She started crying again but this time, Bobby was there to console her. He hugged his daughter and let her cry. He held her as long as Olivia needed him. As the crying subdued, Olivia told him what was bothering her. She didn't want him to go. She didn't want Ashlen to take her place. She wanted him to spend time with her! "Oh honey... no one. And I mean no one, could ever take your place. Just like no one can ever take mommy's place, that's how no one can ever take yours. I love you and if you don't want me to go.."
"Its just, I'm not ready daddy to share you... I'm not ready for another person to come into our lives."
"I understand... well we will need to talk more about, but not right now. Grandma & Grandpa want to take you out for the day, that was my surprise. "
She leaned up and gave her daddy a kiss. After she left, he had a lot to think about.
Now he wasn't sure of what to do.
He could go, but Olivia would be get upset...
But Ashlen, he really wanted to spend time with her...
He wasn't sure what to do. FIN! :]
I hope to bring part 3 far sooner.
Possibly in like a week.

Please, say what you liked and what you didn't. Well I was going to explain this at the begginning but decided against it.
After all the lovely comments on part 1, I was encouraged to continue on.
So I am! I would've brought them out faster but the graphics card... is a pain.
Because of that, we bought a new one, nothing too fancy but the game looks really good!
