Elise woke up from the couch. Hank was standing over her with a glass of water.
Elise: Oh honey. You won't believe what an awful dream I had. I had just walked in on you and Jasin when he said that some girl he married was pregnant. Can you believe that. I must have been so tired from waiting. I must a dreamt the whole thing. What a nightmare.
Elise: Oh honey. You won't believe what an awful dream I had. I had just walked in on you and Jasin when he said that some girl he married was pregnant. Can you believe that. I must have been so tired from waiting. I must a dreamt the whole thing. What a nightmare.
But she could realize from the look on her husband's face that she was not dreaming at all. That everything she experienced was in fact true.
Hank: I think we all need to sit down and have a talk. With all four of them seated in the living room it was quiet for a long time. You could hear the ticking from the grandfather clock.
Then Hank broke the silence.
Hank: I guess I will start this. Let's start from the beginning will you.
Jasin: Well. It's kind of a hard way to explain dad. But you have to believe me that Sammi and I did not plan to keep you out of my life. In fact we came here for help.
Elise took a deep breath. Hank held her hand. Jasin: We did not intend for any of this to happen, Sam and I. But it did.
Hank: I don't understand.
Jasin: Do you remember my friend Chazz?
Elise: Chazz Delinger. Of course. He was such a nice young man. I remember when you brought him home last year because he didn't have any family. Jasin: Well. That's how it began. Chazz and I were stationed in China together. We were on a short leave when we decided to go visit some local shops. And that's when he saw her.
Hank: Sammi?
Jasin: Right. Jasin: Because Chazz was the shy one, I introduced myself to Sammi and started a small conversation. Jasin: I realized that she didn't speak much english, and tried to talk to her the best way possible. The little jokes I did know in french, she laughed and that helped break the ice. Jasin: I was able to introduce her to Chazz and the two hit it off quickly. Very quickly.
Elise: So you married your best friend's girl.
Jasin: No mother. It wasn't like that. Sammi: It was love at first sight with me and Chazz. He was so nice, sweet, and charming. I knew they were only there for a few weeks so we made sure we did as much as we could, when we could. Sammi: I was there as an study exchange student and was still learning the country. When I met them they had already been there for weeks and so he showed me around alot. I loved being with him. He was always warm to me. Sammi: We had many nights we spent together holding each other and one night that we wanted our love to be much deeper. Sammi: But our time did not last, and soon he had to go back to his country. It was a sad day for both of us. I did not want him to leave, but I knew that he must. Sammi: I tried to hold on to him longer, hoping that our one last time would be forever. But we had to let go. He promised me that he would come back for me. That we would marry and be together as we had planned for the weeks we were together. I knew he wasn't lying to me. Elise: So if you were going to marry Chazz, why did you marry my son?
Hank tried to hold her hand again, to calm her down.
Jasin: Back in the states, Chazz talked about his plans for him and Sammi. How he was going to send for her and marry her. But soon we were sent away again. This time we were not going to be together. Chazz made me promise that if anything happened to him that I would take care of Sammi. See to it that she was happy. Jasin: I knew he really loved her and cared for her. Chazz was like a brother to me and I would do anything was for him. So I promised. Promised I would take care of her. I didn't know. I didn't know. ......
Elise: Know what. Jasin: That when he left would be the last time I would see him. Shortly after we parted ways, his plane lost signal from base and he was never found. He never made it to his destination. There was a search party looking for him. But after a few weeks he was considered to be MIA. Elise: This doesn't explain why you got your best friend's girlfriend pregnant.
Jasin: I wanted to take care of Sammi, just as I promised. So when I finally found her I told her of the news.
Sammi: It was a hard time for me. I had just lost my grandmother two weeks before and she was the only one in my family left for me. That is when I learned she was alone and pregnant.
Sammi: I am only a few months.
Jasin: We just married a few days ago. Her citizenship is not here. So in order for me to take care of her and bring her here, with me...... we got married. Mom, dad. I had to do what was right?
Elise: What was right? WHAT WAS RIGHT? What was right was to never had gotten married. You are too young and you have no idea what you are getting yourself into. You should have sent her money to help. Not wisk her away and get married. You two are getting married like their passing out free tickets. There to it than just saying I DO. Hank: What your mother is trying to say son. Is that what about the long haul? You barely know each other and then decide to get married. The is a life long commitment.
Jasin: We don't plan to stay married long dad. Just long enough for her citizenship. Then once everything is fine then we will have a simple divorce and I can still be there for her and the baby. Elise: You are sooo young.
Jasin: I"m 25 mom. Haven't you taught me to look out for everyone.
Elise quickly shut her mouth.
Jasin: All we need is a place to stay until the service can find me a place to live here with her and the baby. Elise took a look at her son. The little boy that she wished would have stayed so young. No matter how much she was against this marriage, she knew her son was as stubborn as she was. And when he set his mind to something, that was it. She looked over at Hank, who nodded slightly at her.
Elise: How long is the stay? There was so much tension in the home for the next few weeks. Jasin tried to show his appreciation to his parents by remodeling their living room. Something Elise had always complained about since he was teenager. He hoped that this would be a way for her to come around. But she barely took a second look at it. She was in the kitchen as usual one morning.
Jasin: Good morning mom.
She didn't say a word.
Jasin: Look, you have to speak to me at some point in time. You can't keep giving me the silent treatment. She slowly stopped washing dishes as he walked towards her.
Jasin: How can I get you to understand that I have to do this. That I am doing this for my best friend. More his baby that is growing inside of her. For her. I know this is not what you want for me. But this is my choice. Elise: Jasin. No matter how much you try to explain your reasoning behind it, I still say that this is wrong. The two of you are not in love. You are just taking sacred vows and making them cheap so you can bring this foreign girl into the states. You can get into a lot of trouble. And I can't be a part of it. I don't want you to ruin your life. Jasin: But I am not ruining my life mother. I am making someone else's better. If it wasn't for me, she would be out there alone. Raising a baby by herself. I couldn't do that mom. You wouldn't have done that.
Elise: Just don't get yourself or this innocent baby hurt in the process. There is more than just you are her in this marriage now. I just hoped you would have found another way.
Jasin: But this is my way. After leaving the doctor's office, Sammi and Jasin went to the park on their way home.
She looked so peaceful as she sat on the swings, the wind blowing slightly through her hair. She closed her eyes.
Jasin: Do you ever think about him?
Sammi: All the time. Sammi: I never had chance to say how much I thank you. That what you did for me and the baby, no one outside of my family has ever done.
Jasin: I made a promise and I intend to keep my promise.
Sammi: I know. That is why you were his best friend. Chazz talked about you like you were his brother.
Jasin: He was mine. Sammi: I know your mother is still not happy with what we did.
Jasin: It's going to take some time but I know she will come around. She's like a mule.
Sammi laughed a little.
Sammi: I just don't want to break up your family. It is very important to me and I don't like it when people are like this. Jasin: She loves to be mad. It's how she starts her day.
They both laughed.
Sammi: I just hope this won't hurt you two.
Jasin reached for her hand.
Jasin: There is nothing to worry about. You just stay healthy for you and baby.
He gave her a small smile. He raised up and walked behind her swing.
Jasin: Let me do all the worrying for the both of us.
He grabbed the chains and pulled it slightly to give her a push

Good part to the story. I feel sorry for Jasin he's stuck in the middle of it, and alls he wants to do is honor Chazz'z wishes.
