What happens behind closed doors? What sort of things are the families of Oasis Valley trying to hide? A newcomer to the neighborhood may be the one to unearth it all.

Welcome to the prologue of my new series. The prologue is meant to introduce you to the characters before Chapter 1 is released. I hope that this new story will have some of the mystery of my Chronicles of the Carr Family series and some of the drama of my Saga of Pleasantview series. Feedback is always appreciated. Enjoy the story!

Oasis Valley sits on the outskirts of Strangetown. Strangetown is well-known for its encounters with the supernatural. Oasis Valley is a new community that started developing a few years ago. People come here to enjoy the desert without all of the supernatural stuff that goes with Strangetown. This is the front door of Chip and Rebecca Zoler. Let's take a look at their lives to see what sort of things they have going on. Chip and Rebecca are the newlyweds of Oasis Valley. They were married a couple of months ago and the newness of their marriage has yet to wear off. They can often be seen out and about spending the day together. Rebecca likes to spend much of her time shopping. They have enough to make a modest living but Chip doesn't know if their income will be able to support Rebecca's spending habit. Rebecca also likes to flirt with anything male in town. Chip tells himself that he's the one she married and flirting does not mean anything. Chip prefers keeping to himself and reading a good book. Though he prefers keeping to himself, that doesn't mean he doesn't also enjoy visiting the nightclubs with his wife. They can dance all night if they have to. They still know how to show some public affection. And are even starting to create a name for themselves when it comes to their limits in public. It seems that nothing and nowhere is off limits when it comes to woohoo. Since Chip spends a lot of time to himself, reading and working, Rebecca has started making new friends in the neighborhood. She's hoping to soon take Moonshine in as a pet. But for now, they are just friends.

This is the front door of Brad and Gloria Knight. Let's take a look inside. Brad and Gloria are probably the oldest of the couples in town. They have twin teenagers who couldn't be more different. Robert is popular and enjoys spending time playing games and talking on the computer. Rebecca on the other hand is studious and interested in making a good name of herself before heading off to college. Gloria hardly pays any attention to her children anymore because she spends all of her time worrying about her marriage. Brad works all day long and she only sees him at night. And there's a room in the garage that no one is allowed in but Brad. She can't figure out what he does in there. Robert may be a slacker when it comes to school but he can tell that his mom is unhappy and tries to help out the best he can. Rebecca has started doing a lot of the cleaning and cooking in the house to make up for their mother. The twins can tell that their mother is going downhill quick and have tried finding help in the neighborhood. They asked Carla Ranger, the social butterfly of the town, to try talking to their mother. Gloria and Carla have always been good friends, but lately Carla has found that she can't pull Gloria out of her slump. The only time Gloria sees Brad is at night in their bedroom. He has taken on a sickly appearance and Gloria is concerned for his health. Brad promises her that he's perfectly healthy. There is still romance in their marriage, although it's only at night under the cover of darkness. As morning dawns nearer, Brad gets up for work and Gloria gets out of bed saddened. She wishes that Brad would take a day off from time to time to spend with her in the daylight.

This is the home of Jasper and Marlene King. They have been married for a few years. It was always the great wish of their mothers that they one day be married. After getting married, they are starting to wonder if there was ever love in their relationship. Marlene spends most of her days catering to the needs of Jasper and Ron (their son). She feels as though she has become a personal slave. She does all of the cooking and cleaning and still manages to work a full time job to make up for Jasper's unemployment. Jasper and Ron sit in front of the TV all day playing video games together. Marlene is glad that Jasper spends time with Ron, but wishes it were in a more productive manner. The boys will come running to the kitchen when it's time for a meal though. They love to eat almost as much as they love their video games. Several visitors have disappeared in the past month around their household. There was the nanny and maid that Marlene hired to help around the house while she's working. There was the headmaster that Marlene invited over. She was trying to get Ron into private school. She left Jasper in charge of the tour and was told the headmaster had to leave before dinner was on the table for him. There's the fenced in area beside their house that only Jasper can enter. Marlene is beginning to wonder if this is a piece of the mystery of her life.

This is the front door of Matthew and Mary Anne Rogers. They are a notable family in community. Let's take a look at their lives. Matthew and Mary Anne are still very much in love after being married for ten years. There is no doubt in the eyes of their children that they love each other. They have one toddler in the house named Tommy. Matthew adores his children and spends time with them every chance he gets. They also have a daughter named Molly. Matthew doesn't believe in nannies. Instead, he works with Mary Anne to make sure that one of them is around the house with the children at all times. The Rogers only want the best for themselves and their children. They went all out to invite the local headmaster over. As usual, it was a success and Molly made it into private school. Mary Anne is an avid baker. She loves spending time in the kitchen making deserts. As an anniversary present, Matthew suprised Mary Anne with a bakery of her own. She named it Desert Desserts. The bakery has required her to work more frequently but it has become a family effort. Once the business is successful enough, Mary Anne will appoint a manager and have more time to spend at home with her husband and children. There are a few things that worry Mary Anne when it comes to Matthew. There is the building out back that stays locked to keep anyone from him but entering. She lets him have this though, especially now that she has the bakery. There's also the fact that he spends a lot of time with his telescope. She has heard about abductions in Strangetown, but that's not what worries her since she doesn't believe those stories. She's worried that he'll become obsessed with space and start ignoring his family.

This is the home of Rick and Carla Ranger. The Rangers are the social butterflies of the neighborhood. From the outside, their lives look perfect but let's take a closer look. Carla and Rick have been married for years and still believe that their marriage is the happiest in the neighborhood. They still make time for each other and show each other how much they care. Carla socializes with many of the wives in town and has heard stories that make her thankful for her husband. Rick's passion is gardening. They have a greenhouse out back that he spends a lot of time in. Carla is skilled in many things. She can play the piano incredibly well. She also loves to paint. Their daughter Jo is her favorite subject to paint. Jo is an amazing child. She gets good grades in school, has lots of friends, and helps with keep things straight around the house. She loves helping her daddy in the greenhouse. She often tells him that she wants to learn everything that he knows. He loves teaching her about gardening and uses their indoor plants for lessons in addition to the greenhouse. Jo is not the only one who helps out in the greenhouse. Carla enjoys spending time with Rick, even if it means pulling a few weeds here and there to keep their garden healthy. The table is almost always set for more than three as they never know when they are going to have a guest over for dinner. The family has lots of friends and they always welcome them for meals. Dinner is always a sit down meal for the entire family to enjoy.

This set of doors belongs to William Covington. William is a mystery to most of the town, since he keeps mostly to himself. Let's see what we can find out. He has the largest house in Oasis Valley, which has been nicknamed "The Mansion." One thing that is known about him is his love for animals. He has two dogs that are spoiled rotten by their master, complete with their own rooms. He was never really known for socializing with the ladies until Cathleen Moore moved to town. It was almost as though he fell in love at first sight. He started spending time with her as friends. Before he knew it, he was spending endless hours on the phone talking to her as well. He knew that he was falling for her, but he wasn't sure he was ready to let her be a part of his life.

These are the doors of Cathleen Moore. Unlike most of the people in town, she doesn't have anything to hide behind closed doors. She just moved to Oasis Valley from Veronaville, where she was tired of hearing about the ancient feud between the Capps and the Monties. It was time to move out of her parents' house anyways. She figured a small, quiet desert town would be perfect since there wouldn't be as many people around to create drama. Living on her own gave her th opportunity to pursue her passion of art. Well, at least her passion for now. She was still trying to figure out what to do with her life. She was finding that when you live alone, you also spend a lot of time alone. So, she decided to be the bold one and invite William Covington on their first date. The Quake had recently reopened in town and was the hottest night spot around. They spent time in the karaoke lounge belting out tunes together. William even picked out a favorite to sing and dedicate to Cathleen. She had never had a guy be so sweet on a date. As she drank the coffee that he bought her, she thought to herself that this guy might be the one. She knew she was thinking this a bit early in the relationship, but everything was there - the chemistry, the friendship, the attraction. It really could be him. As the sun began to set, he told her that he was going to have to end the date early. He gave her a quick hug, instead of a kiss, and headed for the door. She watched out the window as he ran down the street as quickly as he could. It was almost as though he wanted to get out of there before the sun went down.

Thank you for reading the prologue. I hope you have enjoyed it enough to continue reading the series when it comes out. If you have any questions, comments, or feedback, I would love to hear it. I am working on Chapter 1 and hope to have it out soon. Happy Simming!
